A Summary Of Problems
barncooseboy replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
you can all stop worrying about speedway, soon it and ALL motorsport throughout Europe will end as a result of a new EU rule that each and every powered vehicle irrespective of ehere it is used has to carry FULL insurance to the level of current car insurance. It comes out of a case where someone was knocked off a ladder by a farm tractor, because they couldn't get an insurance payout they went to the EU Courts system and the result, confirmed bythe European court that ALL powered vehicles, however and wherever they are used, including competition vehicles must carry insurance against ALL clams. Take a look at the American Hemmings magazine website for full details, unfortunately being computer illiterate I cant put a link here, it was one of their daily newsletters earlier this week. Because of the particular court that handed down the ruling THERE IS NO APPEAL. THE suggestion of this article is that EVERY CAR on a dodgem track will need individual insurance policies. on its own a good enough reason to leave the EU -
I believe that when on long track duty James Shanes has to be at each track for Saturday practice, travelling by van would have to leave Thursday, so could lose a lot of weekend fixtures. I seem to remember Martin Knuckey had a serious injury towaeds the end of last season and predictions at the time were that he might not be fit for 2017 season start

As for the race jackets need a local vicar to condemn them in a statement around about March 20 to get front page of The Herald and maybe a couple of the nationals as well, could rattle on for a few days in the papers Should make sure the opening meeting gets noticed.

Speedway Referee Numbers In Decline
barncooseboy replied to Dickie Head's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Have to defend Frank Ebdon, he was always consistent, move at the tapes and you were out. I remember warning Matej Zagar of this the first time they met, after Matej was excluded he came back to the pits with a big ear to ear grin, I should have listened no tantrums no complaints Frank was one of the nicest people I met in speedway. I believe he might still hold the record for a rain threatened meeting 52 minutes Bryn makes a good point, Refs aare considered by 'The Authorities' to have full responsibility for the conduct of a meeting and can be called before the court system to justify their actions, its a difficult job, without them there couldn't be any speedway -
Graham Hambly, announcer at Plymouth, Exeter, Trelawny, Bristol, Newport (Somerton Park) and Swindon over the years is being released from his stay in the hospital system today Good luck to him as his recovery continues.
-
It is actualy getting more difficult as the years pass to obtain good track material, a number of quarries have closed, so the choice from years gone by are no longer available.
-
Graham Hambly has been moved from Derriford to Mount Gould hospital and I believe he would welcome visitors as the very kind efforts of Brian Cave to take him a lap top have been thwarted by them being unable to get it to pair with the hospital wifi system

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News

I moved out of London in 2002, so have no idea abut any building in Plough lane since that time. Reads more like Cross Arthur than Arthur Cross -

TURN the PLAY-OFFS into a Golden Sweepstake each promoter has to put £500 or £1000 into the pot a week before the season starts, the league playoff winners take the accumulated pot. -
Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
barncooseboy replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Last motorsport event planned for Wimbledon is for March 27, tickets are currently on sale from Spedeworth office there will be NO TICKETS on sale on the night. Would be nice if Deene Wood would allow at least a token recognition of the speedway history by having a couple of bikes to do a token lap or two. Not many people know this, I was actually promoter at 2 Conference league meetings at Plough Lane to allow the normal crew to take advantage of a bargain basement cruise holiday, so think its conversion to football is criminal when there is a closed football pitch just along the road, or is that now built on? Another London problem is advertising, City wide poster advertising isnt possible due to \Various planning/environmental laws, most shops/petrol stations these days are company owned with policies inplace that will not allow advertising for third part services or events. Local Newspaper sales are low and advertising rates are high, similarly local radio. So it becomes difficult to get your event message across to potential new customers Commercial poster sites are also expensive because there are few of them that can be used, have seen a few sites where posters have changed after 2 days. Newspapers are only interested in FOOTBALL, all other sports get little coverage, however The Cornish Guardian lost 20% of its weekly sales when Trelawny closed.. -
I agree that the choice of an ink colour on a colour background sometimes make it difficult to read but suspect that 'onscreen' it probably looked fine it became less visible when transferred to print form. May I take this opportunity to offer my best wishes to longtime South West correspondent and track announcer over the years at Trelawny, Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, Newport and. I think Swindon, Graham Hambly who is currently recovering in Derriford Hospital Plymouth from an unexpected medical problem, GET WELL SOON mate.

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
barncooseboy replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
when they were analysing the referendum vote the TV pundits stated that less than half the residents of London were born in the UK, I was mere repeating that information. In the American election similar figures also apply to New YYork. TV pictures from India show more empty seats at the cricket than full ones. -
Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
barncooseboy replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
London these days is populated by over 50% of citizens who were born in a foreign country, many from African and Middle Eastern origin plus the Indian sub continent none of these countries have much if any interest in Motor Sport of any kind. This means that your potential target audience is vastly reduced and inevitably results in a great reduction of paying customers through the gates. This slewing of the London area population and the continuation of a reduction of WASPs means that audiences will continue to fall at all London Based sports events. -
IF a ref fails for some reason to get to a league meeting the Clerk of the course is empowered to take over as ref. To reduce costs for junior meetings why not have the COTC replace the SCB Ref for those races and meetings. something is nagging me that says this used to be done.

Itried to sign in to the Plymouth Forum, I received a reply that said 'You are banned from this Forum' what conclusion would YOU draw
-
Thought I would go to the Plymouth Speedway forum to see if there was any news to find I have been banned, obviously whoever is running the site doesn't want me to continue with my sponsorship of the Devils having put more money in than ALL the so called sponsors combined (Most of which reneged on their deals when it came to paying up) In view of the rumoured financial shock the new owners have had regarding new required equipment seems a strange course to take. Guess it will be Oak Tree from now on. understand that several members of 'Dads Army' have also been banned seems the web site runner doesntwant any help in keeping Plymouth running

when signing riders from Europe don't forget the massive advantage of Bristol Airport being less than 1/2 an hour away and EasyJet, and from next summer I think I remember WIZZ will be using Bristol with regular flights to and from Poland.

sorry to be referring to an old post, regarding floodlights perhaps someone could mention to the brothers that currently LED floodlights are available from a company online called LE they are offering 240 watt LED lights with 120 degree light pattern equivalent to 600 watt high pressure lights at a touch over £200 however they would reduce electric bill by 2/3 PLUS if new wiring also installed much cheaper cable can be used plus with these unlike high pressure lamps that need 15 minute warm up, LEDs are instant on and should have a 10 to 15 year life frgot to include they are 22,000 lumens per lamp

in the administrators accounts St Boniface are owed over 25k in unpaid rent for SBA, so a commitment to speedway cant be considered as nailed on
-
Brady K left Plymouth part way through last season because he had signed for a Friday night track in Poland, if that is to continue rules him out of reckoning for OTA
-
However, regardless of who the top bidder is to the administrator there are two more hoops he has to jump through. He has to reach agreement with the property board of the Catholic Church who have taken over responsibility for church property throughout the Plymouth area because the school needs every penny it can get. He has to be ACCEPTABLE to the BSPA, that is by no means a given in the current climate with all the problems that have piled up on the BSPA doorstep with a Plymouth postmark. REVELATION I was asked by a senior reliable BSPA promoter to buy Plymouth 2 weeks ago, however with my current health/mobility problems I just cannot do it. After a conversation we decided it was a nonnn r

The Russians at the dear old much missed County Ground Exeter was the most atmospheric speedway meeting I ever went to. A wonderful night, never forgotten by anybody who was there.

answering an early question, Zummerzet run on Fridays because their planning permission says so off nights allowed one Saturday a year and 4 or 6 Tuesdays the planning also limits the height of the lighting poles but no restriction applied to lighting at the golf range next door.
