  1. A side issue from this could be an imprvement in the quality of the fields for the Aussie state championships, increasesd gates as a result and maybe a revival of the solos in OZ above now
  2. Chris Julian for his sheer joy at being on track on a bike
  3. I will be paying it in CASH to the winners on the track, and contracts will have a no split clause in them. I have arranged enough split finals back in the 60s to put a stop to it. (I started when I was 14 doing that)
  4. PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH TIME TO ORGANISE GODFREYS GOLDEN SWEEPSTAKE CHAMPIONSHIP. I wanted to run it at Somerset a couple of years ago but GM (I assume) didnt like the idea. ALL entrants pay £500 Final winner takes £10000 2nd £5000 3RD £2000 4th £1000 5th to 8th £500 should make for a couple of cracking semis and final IF I live long enough and Plymouth are still around I WILL RUN IT IN 2020 as part of the Plymouth Mayflower 400 Festival
  5. I believe Gino won the Maryland state championship which is being run next weekend or maybe the Ohio State Championship being run next Monday Only one entrant in each Gino!!
  6. SIX RIDERSin a race, probably just as well Exeter has closed. They couldnt even start 4 sidecars across the gate.
  7. Thanks for the link to the Radio 4 programme. I think probably the most relevant phrase is the one where it is said that irrespective of which sport is involved a oncussion is a concussion and the item about footballer Geoff Astle who played in the days of often soaked and even frozen leather balls is both frightening and eye opening. A coroners ruling many years down the road that a death is related to someones empolyment as a speedway rider could have immense impact on the sport and measures should be put in place now to monitor both the short and long term effects of concussion in motorcycle sport.
  8. As others have said he will be greatly missed. A lovely genuine man I will miss him when I next go to Somerset and in his day was unbelieveably quick on a grass bike. R.I.P. Lew It has been a privelege to have known you.
  9. If you take a non EU rider on a 3 year visa that means he has to ride for the sponsoring club for the 3 years and the promotion has to pay each week through the winter a sum that is equal to his AVERAGE EARNINGS from a 12 week period during the season THAT IS WHAT WILL STOP NON EU RIDERS BEING SIGNED
  10. Sam Chapman doesnt have a PL average and so all the discussion about NL and age is a waste of finger poking
  11. the spotlight swung onto speedway because of the UKBA being disbanded and the UKVI being created. The BSPA, as the professional body for speedway , were asked to supply certain details of the body to the UKVI to keep their recognition by the government.. The BSPA office failed to reply to the requirement by the REQUIRED date set by the government , in other words they treated the government the same way they interact with everyone else in speedway, that was the start of greater diligence by the men iin sukits
  12. Back along Trelawny beat Wolverhampton, Skornicki was all at sea around the Cornish tiddler
  13. When you take on a work permit rider you are in effect 'adopting' a new member of your family with all the side effects that can throw up
  14. An important fact I havent seen mentioned, ALL Visa/Sponsored riders Must be paid the average of their previous 12 weeks points money, each week, when and if they are injured or dropped by a team. This is to prevent them claiming benefits from the UK Tax payer. This has been the case since at least 2001
  15. All existing tier 2 visas have been cancelled with effect from 1800 tonight, all sponsorship licences previously issued to promotions have also been cancelled. A rider on a 3 year Tier 2 Visa shou,ld only have ridden for one team throughout the entire 3 years. Promoters who have sold promotions and have failed to cancel their Sponsorship licence are facing large V and I fines for non compliance. Tracks have been failing to keep up to date required records on each and every visa licenced rider. All this traces back to the office staff not returning paperwork by a required date, think its time for an office staff cull.
  16. I dont have a mole inside the V and I agency, my mole is somewhere else
  17. Marcels engine has a very efficient oil pump system to ensure long life of the engine, its twin cam and is currently on test in France with UK importer Kelvin Tatum. It arrives fully built, not a kit, ready to go and eexpected to be GP ready standard straight out of the box. Marcel is a superb engineer and wouldnt put his name to anything that wasnt well engineerd, uniquely it hads been approved to be allowed to be called Swiss Made which means it has passed the tests that would qualify it as an ISO approved product in the UK. You know like all the Swiss watch makers. There are a lot of techniques borrowed from Formula 1 in its build, believe it comes complete with a very special ignition system as well BUT think availability MAY be limited at least at first.
  18. Expected to be available from January is a New Speedway engine designed by respected tuner Marcel Gerhard, however it is believed to be about £6K.
  19. oN dECEMBER 4TH the SCB issued new clothing regulations for Speedway riders From the start of the new season all riders have to wear leather pink frilly nickers, bondage gear and winkle pickers. Think I might have mis read the requirements, basically everything has to be leather or meet the protective levels that leather would provide, I think the kicker is you have to prove that your Gloves, boots, tops and bottoms meet these standards or they cant be used. Think this brings speedway into line with the conditions that the Grasstrack boys have known for some time. I am useless at moving stuff from one website to another the official bit can be seen on the Plymouth Devils Forum perhaps one of you could post a link on here.
  20. An off the wall question for Halifax Tiger, a couple of years ago there was talk of a possible return of racing to Hafilax, since then silence. Has everything gone dead in the area.
  21. Can I just pass our best wishes from here in the far South West for Christmas and New Year, how many more disasters are the Glaswegian people going to suffer. Our thoughts are with you all.
  22. Read the papers, they are full of stories regarding making immigration from non EU countries more difficult, can the BSPA really believe that a government who are trying to get re-elected on a ticket that says they are reducing immigration really going to roll over and reduce the entry requirements for Speedway. Dream on. More likely they will remember non EU riders used to come in on a 9 point average.
  23. probably because the BSPA office treated the Visa and Immigration people with the same arrogance and disdain as they treat everyone else the government department have been watching things very closely indeed. They know the averages of every rider in British Speedway and they arent going away, currently non EU riders are only allowed at all because the Natio nal League exists and is considered to be a training scheme to bring on BRITISH riders to replace (Eventually) non EU riders in the Premier and Elite Leagues. Thats why the National League is only allowed British riders, without the NL acting as a training league there would be NO non EU riders in British speedway.
