  1. Trevor Redmond ran his 'holiday' meetings at St Austell through the late 50s using scratch teams called Cornwall, St Austell, England etc get Colin Pratt telling stories about his times riding in those meetings.
  2. An idea has occurred for teams for next year, clubs do NOT sign riders for the year instead all teams are allocated a meeting budget, all riders are in a pool and each promoter forms the nights team up to the meeting budget limit. Picking 7 from the pool. Idea inspired by CVS
  3. ASHLEY HOLLOWAY AFTER DOING A YEAR IN DENMARK WAS ALSO SADDLED WITH A 9 POINT AVERAGE THE AUSTRALIAN NATION, THE MOST BALANCED NATION ON EARTH THEY HAVE A CHIP ON BOTH SHOULDERS
  4. I REMEMBER TELLING MATEJ ZAGER AT HIS FIRST FE MEETING DO NOT MOVE AT THE GATE, HE IS TOTALLY CONSISTENT, MOVE AND YOU W ILL BE OUT, BIG MATEJ GRIN AS HE CAME BACK INTO PITS HAVING MOVED. I WILL REMEMBER NOT TO MOVE IN FUTURE. I BELIEVE FRANK STOPPED HIS REFEREE CAREER DUE TO A DIGITAL MEDICAL PROBLEM, ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE IN SPEEDWAY. BELIEVE HIS PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH RECORD WAS 52 MINUTES.
  5. Bandits could have asked one of the 'Devils on tour' to guest, they will be in town tonight
  6. yesterday I saw a van in Plymouth stickered up for Demon pressure washers heading towards Estover, got to be worth an approach fot some sponsorship, even if they just sponsor the under 19 championship meeting.
  7. not sure if he would be allowed under current rules, Stefan Neilsen would do a good job at BV or zummerzet
  8. according to speedway updates Robert Lambert is at number 5 for Plymouth!!!!
  9. travellers were originally in B and Q park, got moved out and fences erected, moved to park and ride, now moved from there to Marjon playing fields as I understand it.
  10. get there early on Friday B & Q car park is now fenced off and travellers have moved into the park and ride I am told
  11. Post Brexit Aussies will still need to get a BRITISH VISA to ride in the uk, it will not then give them access to all eu countries as it does at present
  12. peppermint capsules from healthspan at good in wind protection
  13. culd be a good idea to have a word with Brian ANNEAR at ST BLAZY MOTORCYCLES ABOUT HOW HE WAS ABLE TO TAKE 1/2 PAGE ADVERTS IN DAILY MIRROR BY PLAYING THE ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT, HE TOOK THE PART OF THE PAGE THEY HADNT SOLD AT PREMIUM RATES THE DAY BEFIRE PUBLICATION AND SO THEY DIDNT HAVE A BLANK SPACE ON THE PAGE THINGS MIGHT HAVE CHANGED IN THE LAST 20 YEARS
  14. as these days I am on a zimmer frame and hsvent been outside the front door in over12 months I have to rely on 3rd party reports to me this one came from one of the weekends workers who was feeling very disappointed at the turn out. Talking to members of Dads army, most of them have hit the wall where you are forced to admit you just cant do it any more.
  15. I understand there was a very disappointing turn out of workers on Sat, only 4 men plus a small group of ladies, who I am told worked their socks off and one lady even managed to get the rugby players to wash the mud off their boots BEFORE they returned to the changing rooms. Where were all the race night people who expect to get in free on race nights snd spend their time carrying a clip board around? Lets face it, in 17 Plymouth will effectively be a community club fighting to survive, it will need people who want to help and not lots of people who are only interested in getting in free se hse been the case for the past years.
  16. didn't the early plans for this circuit also include a 300 metres INDOOR apeedway track as part of the complex to be available as a training track.
  17. BT SPORT IS free with some Virgin packages
  18. Have you also tried the Mayflower 400 committee people for sponsorship, they need the word of the festival to be spread to as wide an area in the UK as possible it will be in 2020 the Donald I understand has been invited don't forget, if the dream team come over they could well be interested in backing a US team if not the devils
  19. there are various cafes around the city where CD goes for breakfast one in Sutton Road, Hoe front, and Cremyll ferry. I understand he WAS a regular visitor until a former promoter tried tucking him up. That ended ALL his sports sponsorship.
  20. couple of years ago invited CD to come to SBA any Saturday for a blast round, I would have provided my ex Emiliano Sanchez bike which at that time was immaculate no cost to him at all didn't get a reply BUT whether he actually got the offer is another matter since devils PL promotion folded bike has been robbed of all the good bits, returned with carb gone damaged frame parts, crap wheels,, unserviced engine thanks guys. Just watching Daytona 24 hours one car sponsored by Florida tourist board why not give Devon tourist people a go OR the Mayflower 400 promotion committee ring Plymouth city council 668000? and ask to speak to the office.
  21. sports journalists believe that because their collegues major on football they should too in order to get their names in the paper as the reporter at a prestige game. the tv companies seeing all this, what was originally club generated publicity have decided they must jump on the football bandwagon and offered mega money to get the matches away from the terrestrial tv companies I,e BBC and ITV. The excessive money on offer from the new tv in itself filtered through to the clubs and allowed them to get sports journalists in their pockets ensuring more publicity for their club in national and regional print media . Newspapers have a limited number of pages, so the sports other than football have been squeezed out of the pages because the journos have got used to the freebies and inducements that the football clubs are able to offer ans concentrate on the one that enhances their pockets. editors see all the copy coming in about football and think must get all these stories in the paper, therefore rugby, people racing, sailing, hockey, and all forms of motor sport get squeezed from the pages. One regional sports editor admitted that when speedway closed in his area, where there are no football clubs in the national league system his papers sales fell by 25% speedway needs what used to be called a fleet street journalist to adopt the sport, write good copy and get it into the national press on a regular basis, concentrating on the skill of the sportsmen involved before speedway can be taken seriously by the other media people who like most people are like sheep and will start to follow because they adopt the there could be a few bob to be made here mindset. talking of lights and doing things differently, anybody visit the Moto Parc in Cornwall with the cliffs around the track colour floodlit, the spinning wheel that rotated around the cliff walls as well and one of the best race tracks in the country at that time. Air traffic control had to be informed when using the SKYTRACKER because projected straight up it went 14 miles. Think it was the first track to feature weekly fireworks as well.
  22. I would hope that the commercial manager would already have leapt on this idea. Bandvulc tyres at Ivybridge have recently been bought out by the giant Continental tyres, they were probably the first ever major speedway sponsors at Norwich back in the 60s. nNOT SURE BUT I think they might own Mitas as well. The brothers who owned the company (Bandvulc) were not interested in sponsorship even when I suggested running one of their tyre shows at speedway tracks as suitable for the shows, parking for visitors, potential catering , large display areas and the visitors could even stay on for an evening match. With a change of ownership at the company and potentially a company who are Speedway savvy MAYBE they might now be worth a well thought out and put together approach for a sponsorship deal.
  23. IF Brandon estates is a limited company, most details can be found by doing a search on the Companies House website be careful you go to the ACTUAL Companies house site and not the rip off sites that charge for info you get free on the genuine site. racers company info posted while I was doing mine, clouds the info compared to uk companies info not a deliberate move surely.
  24. Stefan Neilsen would be top of my list to sign for the former PL Teams
