First of all I am not suggesting he is guilty, but his words in the statements lead me to suspect he knew something about what was going on. However, guilt aside, if we assume he is guilty how does a ban serve to help anyone? It won't help Eddie, or the fans being deprived of a good British rider. Maybe if as some have suggested this is widespread within the sport, those in charge make it clear what the punishment is for future misconduct, i.e,. 1 month ban or whatever, but for now issues an amnesty for all previous offences. If Eddie is in the minority he does need to be punished, but I don't see how a ban helps anyone. What about some kind of speedway community service for a year, he has to work with the BSPA to promote the sport, go into schools etc weekly. Or if it is legally allowed, a percentage of his earnings from British Speedway is donated to charities voted on by the fans. I don't know what the punishment should be, but a lengthy ban serves no purpose to the sport or Eddie.

I was actually saying earlier in the week that people should wait to hear all the facts, especially Coventry fans who seem to have short memories about his Winter loyalty to them. That said, Hatchem, you can blame the fans all you want, we are all responsible for own actions, and we have to face the consequences. So before you get all high and mighty. maybe you should express your disappointment to Mr Kennett himself...
-
Pearson would be too busy sucking up anyway to ask really hard hitting journalistic questions.
-
Exactly my point, at this stage all we know is that it was a 'mistake', strip of his captaincy if it makes you feel better, but for Coventry fans to be demanding he be sacked for a 'mistake' when he was one of few riders that stood by you lot in your winter of disconnect shows how fickle and disloyal Coventry fans are. If it is proved to be a clear case of deliberate cheating fine, he can take his punishment but until that is proved all we know is that it is a mistake.
-
Amazing, Coventry fans never cease to amaze me! Kennett stood by Coventry in the close season, and now their fans are turning their back on him by calling for him to be sacked without waiting to hear his side of the story. Don't condone cheating, but all we know is he used a tampered with silencer.. does not mean it was intended to cheat or that he knew it had been messed with.

Italian Gp Terenzano

The point is, the race was not rerun and in that race Holder messed it up... that is the point. -

Yep I said the same earlier in the thread. Holder messed his start up, Harris who we know is the worlds worst gater was greater disadvantaged but still gated better than Holder. Holder messed it up, simple. -

I have always pretty much considered a rider, rather than a racer. By that I mean when he is leading, he looks fantastic, nice, smooth and positive, but once he hits third or fourth he just does not seem the same positive rider. -

Please no, save us from having Pearson screaming like a fool if he wins. -

Yeah but at first most of us never saw it, we only saw it with the replay. The point is that Pearson who clearly has a love-in for Hancock, Crump and Holder was so blinded by his Holder love-in he failed to point out that the tapes rose unevenly with Harris being the most hampered yet Harris still out-gated Holder. The fact is Holder made a hash of the gate, and decided to use the uneven tape rising as an excuse to push for re-run. -
Swc Final Line Ups
Marmite replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sure is, although may not be as exciting now you know the score, but heat 25 is fantastic considering the situation at that point, but I would mute your sound at heats 9 and 10 because Pearson really lost it again and was screaming way beyond is usual shouting and screaming, not to mention the embarrassing singing. -
Swc Changes Needed ?
Marmite replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The only thing we need to change is the Joker.. other than that it is a good format, although we can get used to seeing Poland and maybe the Aussies ruling for years to come. The only format change I wondered about I think they tried years ago, but where in each race they have 3 nations, two riders from one nation, then one rider from two other nations. This way it might lead to good team riding and a true team world cup. Sure it was tried, but not sure why it didnt work out. -

Ok did you see something I didn't????? The only ones appearing to 'bend the rules' were the Aussies when Ward 'appeared' to decide if he could not score more than the Polish rider to make sure he lost. -

Only as it turned out, and whilst Poland are worthy victors, the joker is just that, a joke. Can you imagine in football if a team goals 2-0 down they are allowed to play the joker that if they score in the next 5 minutes their goal counts for double. Was a great meeting and best result, but the joker rule is a joke when a rider 'appears' to lose points on purpose just to use it. -

Trouble is, no other nation as the talent coming through like they do. -

The Poles used the stupid Joker rule fair and square, for the second consecutive Saturday the Aussies seem to be manipulating a race to use the joker, LEGAL CHEATING. Come on Gollob, stuff the Aussies. -
Swc Final Line Ups
Marmite replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
or in speedway in general. If a team climb several points clear, they should not be then penalised for doing their jobs.. stupid rule... can anyone offer a good reason for this rule, someone try and defend this rule to me, does anyone actually like it? And Pearson is screaming worse than ever tonight, looks like mute button for me again. -

My god, how many times is Pearson going to keep repeating what a shock it is for Poland to be 4th at the moment, the guy is so repetitive, he won't say sheathing once he says it a hundred times. -
Swc Race Off Confirmed Line Ups

Wow, that does not paint a good picture of this boy. If Middlo knew all this with Ben and Eddie already in the team you have to blame Middlo for selecting Bridger. -

Who gives a toss if it is Team GB or Team England, surely you should all be debating the future of Team Whoever and how we are going to compete with those in the final on Saturday? I know Lyons got loads of abuse on here last season, but what did he actually do wrong? Did he step down, was enough done to keep him? Middlo I am afraid made some baffling decisions with the Joker and selection of Bridger. Options are limited, but I am still not convinced about Bridger. And is there any truth in what Pearson indicated last night some of the riders don't get on? -
Swc Race Off Confirmed Line Ups
Marmite replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why is Emil riding? If he could not be arsed on Monday, why should he be allowed to ride tonight? Plus, it means we have to put up with Pearson creaming himself over him all night... will be bad enough he does it with Ward and Holder. -
What you on with? You mean like football and cricket who don't announce their line-ups until a hour before?

Speedway World Cup Team Line Ups
Marmite replied to Ben Alderton's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was pretty packed from what I could tell, but what does always make chuckle is Pearson made the comment 'the crowd goes wild', the camera pans the crowd and all you can see or hear is the odd clap... Reminds of that film, 'Escape to Victory' where the German radio commentators play the 'crowd noise' into the radio'. -

Agreed, not many riders in the world will pass Gollob once he has his nose in front, what Chris did last night to pip Gollob was fantastic racing. I know Harris as his gating faults, but he is a pure racer so I don't understand why some people give him such a hard time on here.
