Speedway Gp In Tatters !
Marmite replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not the part about forcing riders who reject a place to not allow them to participate again unless they qualify. -
Dream Team ? No- It's Tuesday In Vetlanda
Marmite replied to brandonbee48's topic in International World of Speedway
Yep, the Elite League is no longer so Elite at all.... I dunno about costs, but could British speedway survive operating just one night a week and have teams like that? I would go and watch more often than I do if I was seeing those calibre of riders every week! -
2012 Gp Wildcards Announced
Marmite replied to Fozzie4388's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Based on his last two GP appearances, he was the best rider bar Hancock, so I am glad he gets another chance, but he needs to show that GP after GP now. -
Sgp 2012 Wild Cards Now Clear?
Marmite replied to manchesterpaul's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thing is, at the end of 2010 and 2011 Harris as shown he is just as good as the opposition, the only rider to beat the World Champion last night. It would be hard to keep giving him a wild card, but based off the lack of other real British contenders and based off his superb form in the last two GPs I would offer him one final wildcard for 2012. When he is competitive, Chris Harris is as spectacular as Gollob used to be. -

When will the wildcards be offered to riders, and announced? -
Final 2011 Gp - Gorzow

Felt sorry for Harris tonight, he was unlucky in two races. Wish he had shown that form all season long, hope its not too little too late now -
Gp In Auckland 2012
Marmite replied to Bradford Ace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why is it in NZ rather than Australia with Australia having such a big speedway community? Or, is it that the NZ speedway have made it happen, rather than Australian speedway making it happen? -
Especially for a poxy early season Spanish football game.

I don't think he has done enough yet, but if he reaches the final in the next and final GP, then maybe he is worth one final wildcard shot.

I love it, Pearson is so stupid, he is so busy sucking up and waffling on about Greg, he failed to do his job and recognise that Greg was World Champion until he saw Greg's pit crew celebrating with Greg after the race. I really truly hope Pearson gets the F1 gig and we can get rid of this man from our speedway commentating.
-
Listening to Pearson talk about Hancock every single race, might as well rename it the 'Pearson loves Hancock' show... I better mute the moment Hancock does win the title, or Pearson's love for Greg will get so loud it will bust my speakers.

Vojens Grand Prix
Marmite replied to ImpartialOne's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think I must have been watching the wrong GP... Because in the first 20 heats I thought it was a fairly processional GP. -

I agree, Greg is not a rider that excites me. Nothing against him, he is consistent which is why he will win the title, but he just does not excite me when I watch him race. -

The problem is, some people think 'close scorelines' or 'close points scoring as in GP's' constitutes good speedway. For me speedway will ALWAYS be about the quality of racing and tonight's what's processional for the most part. Like you, only one, maybe two good GPs this season. -
I am a huge Harris fan for his racing style, and on his day (given the right track) he can match anyone, but last night showed that in general he is not consistent enough and therefore I think it would be hard to give him a wildcard. I would love to see him take a season out of the GP and then qualify on his own merit for 2013 and come back refreshed.

Biggest cheer of the night across the speedway community watching TV was when Pearson and Tatum lost their mikes and we just watch blissfully with the noise of the bikes and the crowd, love it. Because he repeated them so often I lost count of how many mentions by Pearson it was Darcy's debut, and how many 'it's all very tight' during the racing, I counted at least two in once race.
-
This man is really doing my head in. What's the point Pearson waffling on and on and on about how many points in front Hancock now is in front of others with still th4 5th ride, semi and final to go so it will all change in the next hour anyway.

Scandinavian Gp 2011
Marmite replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You're right, he just did not look himself at all. In the first race Harris had more or less blown it with that huge locker he pulled, and for a lap Harris was just sort of following, and then he seemed to realise if he pulled his finger out he could have Gollob such was the pace or lack of pace from Gollob. Not the Gollob I know and love. -

It really was a fantastic racing meeting, speedway racing at its best.. rather than just 'speedway riding' where the close scoreline is all that kept it interesting. I was disappointed in both Nicki and Gollob's performances, two men who usually love to mix it and race, but were just not at the part at all last night. -

Fantastic GP, couple of questionable referring decisions, great racing only slightly ruined by Pearson who again showed he can't see beyond his three favourites of Crump, Hancock and Holder.. how many times did he tell us 'three times world champion Jason Crump'? -
No, only the silencers were tested I think. Not all their equipment, which I think is the point the other poster was referring to.
-
Not how I read it.. I read it that the question should be asked if his equipment legal.

Oh the irony.. Steve Shovlar and a Poole fan talking about fair play!
