  1. i guess because of the kent posponement this seems to have been arranged at very short notice as i was at the last home meeting and nobody said anything about it . hope there's a decent crowd as some , including us , have made other plans.
  2. should be an comfortable win for the brummies so long as they've got their heads straight after last week . good luck to all the riders and hope mitchell is improving every day .
  3. as a newport regular at the time i remember it , it put him out for the rest of the season . i think the next year he did the same to his arm at home to stoke . as s4s says it still happens now although thankfully no where near as much as then , when it was a regular occurrence. not so sure it can be piled on the problems at stoke atm as it was a speedway problem as a whole back then.
  4. umm , would you settle for just beating them ? i don't want then taking it out on us on sunday .
  5. perhaps i give up to easy . but my jaw dropped when i saw the score , thought i.o.w might catch the fen tigers cold , well 4 of their riders anyway , wonder what the devil's riders and fans thought . as for weds , i can see myself sending for the dvd of that one.
  6. if tonight on the island is anything to go by the rest of us are fighting for runners up spot .
  7. i think the colts by 12 - 15 thats margin not score
  8. you'll be more upset with yourself in the morning if the colts give them a hiding and you could have been there , and it's going to be sunny ,
  9. i would say enjoy the 60 pt wins for now as i see another one next week . as a team the eagles are improving by the meeting and i don't see the same in the i.o.w team so can only see another hammering maybe even bigger than the cup . kent will certainly be no whipping boys and mildehall will really fancy their chances even though lack of meetings might count against them . can't wait for the return to covcester in the cup to see what they can do there when they haven't ridden twice and driven 1000 mls before hand. oops , just noticed mildenhall is away so they will definitely fancy their chances .
  10. don't see anyone beating morley tonight but only backed up by hopwood & campos so they've been playing catch up from ht 1 . should be a close one.
  11. even with the great start to the season for the eagles , not sure that counting up possible points isn't a bit premature . the bees haven't started badly themselves with a convincing home win and 2 decent showings at 2 of the leagues big guns . think this is going to be a good one and could go either way really. weather going to do it's best to spoil it though.
  12. was the buggy in operation to take people who can't make the walk up to the track from the clubhouse? reason i'm asking is we'd like to make the trip up next sunday only my friend has still got wrist and ankle injuries after a fall. if it will be used for bees fixtures can anyone let me know if it has to be pre-booked or you just turn up and wait your turn , many thanks.
  13. with o'keefe signing for stoke , will reading be allowed to sign another rider or can they use guests for the home meetings ?
  14. has anybody got the 2001 NEW YEAR CLASSIC on dvd or video that they could sell me a copy of ? it's the only ' individual/open' meeting from Newport that i haven't got . i'm also looking for a copy of disc 2 of the Simon Stead testimonial which plays all the way to the end as my and any copies now freeze just before ht 12 , thanks .
  15. nice to read so many level headed comments on a very emotive subject . i will be going a couple of times , admittedly to support the away side , even though i have to be up for work at 12.30 a.m. on a monday and will take me almost 3 hrs to get home after the meeting so i hope that more fans support it than don't.
  16. that wasn't very well publicised either
  17. in the early 00's wasn't there a reduction of something like 1.5 pts on a riders average if they were british ? why was that dropped ? or am i the only one who thinks this rule existed
  18. it could be done really cheaply as well , to upgrade the toilets on the 3rd bend would just need a bar of soap .
  19. thank you no1 , i'm after the dvd if it's available so it will be a great help to know what i'm asking for. thanks again.
  20. last season mark baseby and charley powell won a pairs meeting on the grass , can anyone tell me where it was ? thanks.
  21. nothing to do with s/star but try this one . a card delivered to my mother at 39 wood street in wales was addressed to 39 wood street , adelaide , south australia . it had an airmail sticker and been franked . brought it down with me to give to our postman , which i did and the next day it was back up at my mothers.
  22. i think mildenhall look slightly stronger myself , mainly because ayres had a lot to deal with last year so i expect him to have a better year , and he wasn't too shabby last season. out of the 4 reserves brooks is the only real unknown quantity as the other 3 have already shown what they can do. i can see georgie wood being one of the top riders next year . so slightly stronger probably , far stronger definitely not .
