Wildcards 2017.....

Yep. Much rather see Kenny bjerre in the series next year than Emil... -
Surely the BSPA can only stop riders currently racing in the UK from taking part? Accordingly, powerless to stop tai riding?

Well Done To Max Clegg.
waiheke1 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another example of edr being a success. Yes I'm sure he would have eventually made the EL, but without a doubt it has expedited his progress. If they do Dutch the scheme next year, hope they implement a minimum 3 brits per team policy, one of whom must be a protected (I. E. Remain reserve) u21 or u23 ridea. And revert to a conventional heat format. -
But the team built was always going to be strong at home and poor away. All the motivation in the world is not going to change that. Lakeside model is win everything at home and that should be enough to make the playoffs. And it worked. Tatum hasn't worked miracles, neither on the surface has he done anything disastrous. Though nilsson has arguably been your success story, so if he wanted rid that's not a glowing indictment of his abilities.

Aces team under the new 38.5 point limit 1. Tai 7.03 2. Emil 6.00 3. R lambert 7.08 4 G Laguta 6.00 5. C cook 7.37 6 s worrall 3.00 7 j Jacobs 2.00 Emil and laguta come in on 6 as non gp riders. Shovvy says Ellis should be a 3, which must make worrall the same and Jacobs a point less. If the limit is 40.5 you can replace laguta with lindback, fricke or zagar and still have plenty left over.

Tai hasn't either. He quit British speedway last season. In fact he returned to it this season.Or do you have a rider other than tai in mind? I recall in 1980, pc quit British speedway for the 81 season and was prevented from racing in the British final and the pairs/WTC. That worked out well. The "Grand Slump" I believe it was labelled.

Wildcards 2017.....
waiheke1 replied to Panthers89's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This. Is he one of the top 10 riders in e world? Yes. Would he enhance the series in terms of both quality and excitement? Yes Dies he diversify the series in terms of nations represented, without diluting quality? Yes. Would he enhance the series commercially? Yes. If he is available, he should be in. End of the day the series should be about the best in the world fighting for the title, and Emil is clearly good enough to do so. -
Both Smudger and foxy if I recall, perhaps Smudger was in the early years. Assume it was because he looked like the beano character of that name. Which certainly qualifies as a daft nickname, as cobber is an Australian term, and Ivan certainly wasn't an aussie.

Wildcards 2017.....
waiheke1 replied to Panthers89's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can't disagree with that, though Zagar also a candidate for the 4th slot given his regular top 8 finishes. Is Smolinski possibly an outside candidate (albeit an uninspiring one), given he was close to qualifying and Germany possibly a target market? -
But tai's was a "real" average. Anything more than 2 years old I would have argued should be re assessed in which case I would have said tai should be an 8.For lindback his elitseren average I would argue should have been the benchmark.but whatever benchmark he is clearly more than 0.3 better than harris. Lindgren, zagar etc. would be suitable benchmarks. Bit surely whatever criteria were used should have been set at the start of the season?
-
What is the 6.34 Shovvy refers to? Is it what he actually averaged over 11 meetings, or a rolling average which would have become official had he ridden one more meeting. And then how does the 4.15 fit in?
-
Tbf to take an average from 10 years ago would have been utterly ridiculous. An assessed average is logical. The issue is how was 7 arrived at? By any measure you would expect lindback -or any comparable rider - to be assessed higher. Look at the riders in the EL averaging around 7 - none are near his calibre. 7.5 or 8 would both have been reasonable. 7 I'd ludicrous, and I don't blame poole I blame whoever approved this.

You find the fact you consider Maori place names unpronounceable funny?Interesting sense of humour you have Beaver. -
Reckon you might catch a few with this one Mr Shovlar. ...

Holder and lindback would be better than magic and Kurtz. Better than gomolski available on that average. If the limit is 42.5 then Elliis should be 2016 rolling average. And if EDR scheme dropped surely there will still be requirement for minimum 2 or 3 brits per team?

Belle Vue Selling Season Ticket Holders Seats Again!
waiheke1 replied to GregoryM's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Is it only 2 people though? Or only 2 people have complained online? Neither of whom are being nasty about judging by the tone of post, just wondering if there is a wider issue and concerned about implications for play offs? -
If tai wins 5 individual titles I think he will be regarded as more successful. No world pairs title these days which gave Hans 7 of his. And tai's backup in the swc of the likes of Harris cook king etc. doesn't really compare with gundersen pedersen and knudsen does it?

Surely kk would be the first choice guest to cover aj at the NSS? After that though..guess king, lambert or tungate is about as good as it gets? None of whom are number ones. -

The only rob born in 72 was homer, who has been ruled out. The other suggestion was Robert jackson, who was 72 last year. But this suggestion seems to fit the bill on many levels. Suspect we can rule out lambert, pfetzing and the poles! -

In the 81 British junior Champ, the field did contain simon Wigg, future world longtrack champion. However, not sure Robert lightfoot won any races at poole, unless they were 2nd halves or junior league matches, given the bl record of 6 points over 7 matches.
