  1. I assume the fact they allowed non payment is related to the opening meeting and related insurance claim. From there, it seems the only way they could be paid back is ftom the play off "pot of gold."200k over say 20 meetings is 10k a meeting rent. What do other clubs pay? Obviously you would expect this stadium to be higher, but it should also attract the biggest crowds. 2000 fans a meeting means the first 5 quid a ticket covers the rent. don't know what the riders wages are but you'd have to assume the bulk of the next 10 quid per ticket is covering riders wages/costs for the home and away legs. WHICH means you really need sponsorship and supplementary income to be covering nearly all of the operational costs. what does it cost to run a speedway meeting, excluding rent and riders wages? 10k? SO 10k down a meeting with nil sponsorship, and some general stadium running costs. but then the play offs surely generated an extra say 100k of revenue. It's just hard to see based on those high level assumptions how things could be do disastrously wrong?
  2. agreed. unless the creditors thought it was such a risky project they required the directors provide personal security in case of default?
  3. you didn't hold your hands up, but you have now. Good man. Admitting when you are wrong is a good thing. i'm not so sure you were technically right though?
  4. but the money on the staidum has already been spent. Leaving it empty because you are worried the next tenants may default is hardly going to help the residents of manchester. they just need to do a good scutiny of any business plan, and insist on payments througout the season,
  5. King 9.57 Rose 5.8 R Lambert 8.76 Porsing 6.58 Bjerre 8.22 Huckenbeck 5.04 S lambert 5.25 49.22 I think KL should be able to put out a very solid team this year. I assume Batch will beoff to Poole, if not you could add him to the above line up, probably doing something like Batch/Morris in for Porsing/S Lambert?
  6. i have every sympathy for Chris Morton, the provider of so many happy memories at the great Hyde Rd, and this must be heart breaking for him, and his family if it is true he has lost his house. at the same time, there has obviously been quite high levels of incompetence. i really dont understand how both riders and rent can have gone unpaid for so much of the season - where did the gate money go? If it was servicing debts from prior to the move to the stadium, you have to wonder if the council was aware of these debts when the business plan was submitted. Is there still an ongoing insurance claim for lost revenues from the opening meeting - as presumably that would cover the bulk of the rental payments?
  7. ok, good that at least they thought about the impact. But you could work out now a suitable conversion method, would take a couple of hours. Waiting until mid season is a recipe for manipulation.
  8. who knows, there was no announcement made on how they treat riders ho did not race in UK in 2016. If you get him on that average well done, but it will be another example of Forsd being two steps ahead of the rest, and more incompetence from the governing body if they allow that. They need to be transparent, think things through and announce them before team building starts. just as they should have done for what happens for re-declarations.
  9. Lindgren 10.09 Howarth 7.18 Masters 8.88 Kerr 6.16 Thorssel 9.88 Clegg 4.04 Williamson 3.76 49.99 would look a decent team. Proba ly a better way to use the Howarth/Kerr points? For example, if Nicholls or HArris are available,, one of them plus a 3/4 pointer?
  10. this. surely any rider who did not ride EL last season, but did ride top flight sweden/poland, either comes in on a 7x1.4 , or that overseas average cnverted. but that should be decided now, prior to teams signing riders. if Milik comes in on a 5.6 x1.4 he s probably the biggest bargain in the league.
  11. I guess Carter never met PC when PC was at his peak - PCs peak was probably 74-80, and Carters 81-86. Head to head in my era at hyde rd (81-87) Carter had an excellent head to head record (approx 3-1 ratio) against PC, against Mort it was roughly 50/50. But Carter never had a bad meeting, won two BLRC (could easily have been a 3rd), the worst i can remember was 8 points from 5 riders against Denmark in 86, falling in his last two rides (possibly both broken foot rests). I the period 81-87, PC and Mort met KC most hear 13s and never got a 5-1 against him (excluding one meeting where he broke the tapes). MAybe a 76/77 version PC and an 83/84 Mort may manage to 5-1 KC, who know i think through to 82 KC had world class equipment. From reading his biography, it seems after that he lost a little focus and certainly 1983 didn't have the same standard of machinery. Evitts I guess rode with him 84-86, and maybe its a fair comment that he didn't have machinery as good as the Danes, but certainly in 82 his bikes were as quick as anyones in the world.
  12. Seriously, Gavan, you wonder why you get grief. Trolling on a Poole thread. Multiple posts where you blatantly mis-understood the rules, yet told people they needed to learn to understand/read. And when you finally realise you are wrong, you don't acknowledge it or apologise, but instead say you expect an apology?!? You sometimes post some decent stuff, but you really do pollute the Poole threads.
  13. If Ellis had ridden PL last year, what do you honestly think he would have averaged. Surely it would have been a point more than the likes of Starke/Newman. Howarth averaged over 7, R Worrall nearly 8.5. So his 7.8 EL conversion is about bang on.
  14. That's an awful team to be a top flight side. Surely you will want fred to spearhead it?
  15. What do most tracks pay to hire a stadium? Surely all teams either pay giraffe, or gave significant investment tied up if it is their own. Really? So a plumber with his own business needs to employ a fill time h&s for his business. the local corner shop does? the local pub? Can you point me to the legislation which mandates this, as I can't find it.
  16. Solid team and nice use of the pts limit, but surely holder will be at poole? K bjerre for holder and downgrade kerr/rose? Really? Can you quote the law you think is being broken? My employment contract prevents me from working for anyone else without my employers permission. A contractor surely has less rights. they are offered a contract for 200k with condition that they exclusively (or semi exclusively) work for that entity for a defined period of time. what do u think is illegal about that offer? If you take your logic to the extreme, it would be illegal for kings lynn to stop one of its riders signing a contract to also ride for poole.
  17. Opening night I guess must have cost them circa 100 or 150k? Which I guess would cause cash flow difficulties for potentially the whole season but assumed in itself that couldn't be the sole issue, given that the play off final must have balanced that out?
  18. You are the one who has been going on and on with the wrong interpretation of the conversion on this thread, not sure why you think you are owed an apology?!?PoOle will again have the strongest team. All El teams except Leicester will weaken Andersen j holder harris batch kurtz Newman 2pter? Kk Ellis batch j holder kurtz Newman 3pter?
  19. Holder and Doyle will be 10.5pt plus men given the change in format and weakening of the leader. Kurtz on a 7.65 does become appealing.
  20. Not sure about watt. but agree on Schlein, should have named him in my side ahead of Newman. Would still go harris/Bewley rather than watt/bates. though I agree bates is good value.
  21. Agree with that Phil. So is a key issue assumed non speedway revenues in the business case that have not materialised? And is the issue there with the person tasked with generating such revenues not being up to the task?
  22. So end result is a weaker top flight. Promotion and relegation that will be meaningless. More issues with odd averages The only good thing that I can see is the changing to conventional format. But, I can see the gulf between number ones and reserves being greater than ever, so maybe the previous format, with a sensible approach to weighting averages, would have been better?
  23. Tbh what they should have done is converted PL averages upwards so that there could have been a realistic limit of 42 points that could have been retained for the season. As it is, I dont see an issue with Doyle being on a 13.5. yes he will likely drop 2.5 points on that. But the average team will drop 8 points, and a quality number one is still worth investing in given they will take 5 rides The commonsense approach would be they come in on a 1.2 multiplier or something like that to refleck that the league is of a lower standard than last year.
  24. Harris Newman Lambert Batch K Bjerre Klindt Bewley. not particular inspiring at 4 and 5, but both should be genuine HL in this competition.
