Belle Vue National Stadium

haven't they all been incorporated into the stadium? So why would u get it back? -
Morris is no risk on that average. Expect hecwill average less than harris but comparable to nicholls or Kennett, though he is likely to rude more heat 15s which may put his average fractionally below the eye riders. Thinking about it, I actually think doyle/morris/Ellis will be good for 29 points a meeting, whereas I would see the rye trio closer to 27/28. I'd be happy with either set as my opening signings.
-
Wouldn't want garritty on an 8.5, already have an issue that the worrall are both 8.5 both of which are on the high side as neither is really a hl. No thanks to bridger as well. Ideally cook as one hl, plus zagar/fricke and Hougaard. That probable leaves room only for Steve of the twins.
-
Only one troll tbh. Gavan is making perfectly reasonable points. Starman has been absent for a few pages. Off season and seems Gater1 has extra time for trolling.I agree that Doyle/morris/Ellis will score roughly the same as the rye house trio of heat leader, albeit they are on a couple of points highwe starting average. Still think Swindon are best suited signing a 3rd hl (even if Ellis technically starts the season as 3rd hl due to higher average).

Good call, tbh I'd forgotten about those 3 post war years without world chsmpionships. Yeah, both of those would be in my top 20, not top 10 though.Top 10 for me would be Mauger t rick funding nielsen Briggs Hancock crump olsen Moore penhall, though order could change on a daily basis, and those latter two could be alternated with riders like tai, Craven, gundersen etc.
-
Collins and Mauger would surely gave been one-two in a gp series in 76, though Simmons could have made the podium for sure. Carter and s Moran were for me the vest riders of the 80s not to win a world title. And Morans definitely my favourite American riders of all time. All quality riders sid.But how unlucky was knudsen with injury. Initially in the 80s when he lost much of 83/84 with injury, the 86 final decision v nielsen. And then to have more injuries and come back, be superb in both 95 and 96 GPs but miss half of both series due to injury... Ricko and nielsen clearly the two best riders of the 90s imo, simply class.
-
because I would suggest someone like nielsen on a 5.5 or Williamson on a 3.8 is going to lose proportionately more of their average than a 2 pointer will. If you look at the 2016 edr, of those with averages under 6 points there is arguably only lambert, bates, rose and clegg who seem to represent good value compared to a 2 pointer who will likely average maybe 1.5.
-
Disagree with most of those being as good as Hamill tbh. Jessup could easily gave finished top 2 in a gp series, but Simmons, Louis, crimp, sanders I just can't see it. Sigalos and Jansson had the potential certainly, though neither got close in their prematurely ended careers. End of the day almost every season the world champ needed a lucky break of some kind, and that was arguably the difference between some one time champs like Hamill and those who missed out, like knudsen, Carter, jessup etc. Ultimately I'd rank Hamill somewhere between 20 and 30 on a list of best post war riders, not sure I would include any non world champs in that top 30. Think the answer to that is no sid, hard to believe penhall or a focused lee wouldn't have won more titles. That's before you get to what if Carter was there at odsal, what if sigalos/knudsen had not been hit by injuries, what if the Morans had loved the good life a little less.Watching the early gp series also reminded me how good nielsen was, he really would have cleaned up if the GPs had been in place a decade or so earlier.

Had a bit of spare time after some recent minor surgery so just watched the 96 series. Every bit as blatant as described by Rob above, though the commentator (tony millard) made no mention of it, instead enthusing over Lorams pass of Ermolenko. Without a doubt Sam should have been excluded. Recall him letting Hancock past in an early 90s overseas final to ensure greg qualified for the next round. As a side note, not sure you will ever see a better race than the 96 gp challenge run off, where Crump ended going first to last, and Smith ultimately beat Sam at the end of a fantastic battle for the final reserve spot. In fairness to Hamil I'd rate him at least the equal of other one time world champs like Havelock, Loram and Holder (the latter obviously world chsmpionship in similarly controversial circunstances) and ahead of the likes of muller and sckaziel. But I can see arguments for the likes of knudsen being regarded as equally good riders, even if for various reasons they did not become world champ.

Yes. Grachans point was that he is effectively on a 1.5 conversion so worse value than Doyle. I agree - 85% of riders are worse value than Doyle imo.And that is with tungate also having a deflated average due to spells at 2nd string and reserve And I still disagree with this.If I had free reign to put together whichever 7 riders I wanted, then agree I would not pick a 12+ rider (I'd spearhead with something like Lindgren, harris,woffy/masters). But reality is noone-maybe poole?- csn choose onlybtheir preferred 7 riders, and fsct is that 85% of riders will drop, so it's about selecting those that offer best value. Riders who ride exclusively as hl in the EL, or riders whose pl average is less than 1.4 times their EL average represent best value. So Doyle is much better value than josh g or tungate. Actually josh g isn't terrible value when I used your weighted averages (presume he must have ridden predominantly as a hl) but tungate certainly is. Would rather go with a rider who is certain to drop 15% than a rider who will probably drop 30%.
-
What are swindon fans thinking: Doyle Ellis morris sedge batch 2pter x 2? Doyle starke morris Ellis buzz 2pter X2? Both would be competitive I reckon. Or josh g rather than buzz more realistic? Nielsen on a 5.5, especially in the main body, would be wasted points imo.
-
Think I suggested exactly that team many pages back (possibly I had nicholls rather than harris), and that side is as strong as you can realistically put together undervthis points limit . Fred masters harris Klindt and clegg all excellent value on their averages.
-
I'd suggest apart from Cyfer it could be close. Cymer would no way be a 5 in any case. But throw in a different reserve, and with that line up you would be favourites again.
-
Excellent signing, good value on that average and should improve on a home track to his liking. Presumably Kennett will be signed as well, if they can name one more decent hl I can imagine them having a solid side.
-
But nielsen is unlikely to pick up too many third places, and on a 5.5 starting average you really need him to average wrllover 4. He'd struggle to do that ftom reserve, let alone in the main body.
-
He still averaged 6+ predominantly as hl, in terms if value on that average he'd be in the top 15 or so riders, and the best value of sny 2016 pirate. Certainly better value than the likes of garritty, worrals, tungate, Josh g who are on the same or higher averages . Ok so it seems there are multiple companies, BV arena and BV speedway being the main ones. Net position of those is current liabilities exceeding current assets by circa 350k, so not as bad as indicated above but still pretty awful. Morts "net worth" across companies he is director of is negative 380kish which seems pretty awful. -

Just looked up the belle vue speedway accounts. Seem to be a different entity to that which Phil the Ace posted an earlier link to. But those are for 2014 and showed zero current assets but 730k of current liabilities. Only have access to the abbreviated financials, but even so that is an awful position, and would seem to align with what has been staTed by some on here that the financial issues date back to the dog track. Which begs the question of whether MCC did due diligence, as relying on payments from an entity with that balance sheet position at the start of the new "project" seems dicey at best. -

Not to mention that the 150k ish was no doubt part of the business plan for the year. -
King and rose/huckenbeck for zagar and kerr more likely? Decent looking team.
-
Is Buzz nailed on for poole? If not he and Morris would be excellent back up for Doyle, with Ellis and someone like starke? as 2nd strings. No value in nielsen on a 5.5 compared to a 2 pter imo, as I reckon he will lose at least a couple off that average, more if riding as a 2nd string.
-
Surely you would upgrade r worrall to fricke/zagar/nicholls and downgrade Williamson to a 2 pter ? Better options than l bjerre as well surely?
-
Disagree. If you have 2 2 pters you reslisticslly hope they score 2 each at home and 2 each away. So over 2 team members you have dropped a total of 1 point off the starting average. If u go with 2 riders like nielsen or sarjeant on 5.5+ averages, or say Williamson on a 3.76, I'd be confident you ate going to drop far more points than that vs starting average, and have a weaker top 5. This season i think there is no right way to structure your team, every side will be weak somewhere. Clegg is excellent value. Williamson I'd be tempted to save the 1.76 to strengthen elsewhere. mBewley is a 4. I believe you are missing interpreting the rule around who can be a 2pter. I expect Blackburn would be, as he has not attained a 3 pt pl average.
-
Agree. IMO should be a minimum 5 converted at 1.4. Or ekstraliga average converted x 1.4.
-
solid but I reckon you are better getting a genuine 3rd heat leader and downgrading one other.
