  1. Agree with most of this. But think your maths is out re holder/kk. It's surely a 1.5 point swing, unless u think kk will average 1.5 more than chris.Holder - starts 12.5 ends 11 Kk - starts 11 ends 11. Not sure there is anyway you can make that a 3 point difference. Unless u believe the 1.5 saved by not using holder generates an additional 1.5 beyond the alternative e.g. Rider a (with kk) starts 7.5 finishes 7.5 Rider b (with holder) starts 6 finishes 4.5. Though even then I'd argue that you can't really associate that swing to holder as there are other options that could have saved that 1.5 points.
  2. Pretty sure all those 3s are assessed. If they averaged under 3 I think you get their actual average, down to a minimum 2.That said, it's probably irrelevant as they all fit your remaining points
  3. Aces: Ross s moran craven mort pc smith k moran Dukes: Carter at 1 with "6 other w@nkers" making up the rest of the team. Can't argue with that swindon team, though I'd be tempted to put Doyle in there. Sheffield: S Moran p Carr k Moran n Collins l Collins Wilson barge.
  4. Shanes has never achieved a 3 point average in the PL, hence he is a 2. No loophole finding, that is how I (and most on here) interpreted the rule.I'd take it as a sign that kk will be signed more than holder. But I'd say that for most sides signing a 2 pter makes sense. Poole just smart enough to get in early and get one of the better ones.
  5. He sells the speedway star, id suggestvthat is the origid of the usernsme....That said, he's had a dig at people "hiding behind online names" so it may be his real name
  6. Doesn't fit into that line up.Does if u go with joonas rather than fricke. Which I would want if I were a bees fan I reckon, and if zagar isn't riding for aces this season then I hope fricke is!
  7. Depends on which 7 pointers. If you got batch and Schlein then that is the way to go. But if it was howarth and sedge, then you are better to go with morris + 5 pointer. If scb is correct and Morris is a 7.6 then problem solved! I think you might even have enough for a 3 pter and a 2pter. Would be a decent team that.
  8. Bjerre was in excellent form last year, one of the top 20 riders in the world in 2016 imo.One of the few riders in the league capable of maintaining or improving their starting average.
  9. I reckon if you could get joonas that would be a better use of points than fricke. I'd anticipate similar averages come end if season, but joonas ftom memory is on about a point less starting average.
  10. Klindt is available on a lower average than he managed riding as a hl in 2016. Most other riders are on averages 1.4 or more times higher than their 2016 averages, and many of those had inflated 2016 averages from riding as we'd string orc reserve.Klindt is by dome margin the best value signing available in the league. That is why Klindt.
  11. If they could add joonas garritty Schelin and bates plus a 2 pointer I think that would be a top side. Or swap garrity/2 pointer for a more balanced combination.
  12. teo good signings, though I would be amazed if king maintained his average - I reckon it will drop by a point. Bjerre could well be one of the few riders to maintain or improve his though.
  13. But surely thats what the point limit is there for. Bsck in the 80s I remember the points limit being 50 at one point, then the rich boys really did hoover up the talent - 83 Cradley the strongest team of the era, the 83 eastborne/swindon teams were appalling. The sport isn't being blackmailed. Clubs have the option to say no. But they may also figure it makes financial sense to have big names and get extra through the gate. And the likes of holder and Fred have been good servants of British speedway.
  14. And like swindon, I'd say it's a poor side. Swinton still have the opportunity to bolster their side with a good signing for the final top 5 spot. But that aces side might be ok at home, but will get hammered away as the bottom 3 will struggle to get 5 between them.
  15. Crazy robin was, funnily enough, talking about the Robins...
  16. Disagree. Surely your top 3 are good for 7, and reserves for 1. I reckon 8 down ;-)
  17. Partially agree.Kennett is a decent signing imo. He averaged more than harris or nicholls last year, and pre dominantly riding as a hl. Using your converted averages, he is better value than nicholls, albeit nicholls average was low due to his scores at home. Robson I agrew is guaranteed to drop a couple of points. That said all the rye fans seem happy enough, and weaker 2nd string is probably about right for him. I think it's a solid top 5, not going to be chsmpions but could be on the fringes of a play off place.
  18. That's also a weak team. Only two genuine hl, and r worrall/Jacobs would be one of the weakest 2nd string pairings on the league.
  19. Sclein and another would fill the spots on that team, but not sure why you are ruling out kk to Poole and king to kl.
  20. And that's solid side. Would be a real shame if garritty does not get a pl place, but for all the whinging out of Dorset about Ellis, it's the lukes of garritty that have ended with the really unappealing averages, as you need a 3rd hl on 8.5, which garritty could be, but certainly risky.
  21. Agree. But I can't see any reserve averages rider (possible exception Klindt) worth 7 rides, let alone 2 of them. Plus if you do manage a star reserve, they will be in the main body at the first set of averages. Reserves will be important, always have and always will. But can anyone name a realistic combination of two five point ish riders that would outscore a combo of buzz/joonas plus a two pointer? Buzz/joonas would be 7.5 men in this league, and a two pointer should be able to average 1.5. So 9 ppm. Most of the 5 point riders out there I can only see being 3 ppm riders, when you consider most edr in that range averaged under 3 last year in an easier format. If you can get two of bates Klindt rose clegg then great. But lykke plus another 5 pointer? No way can I see them averaging 9ba meeting between them.
  22. Tbh I'd be trying to be that first team, and be the side that manages to get JPB for example. I still think the 2 pointer route offers far more value than many of the 2016 edr and can see most sides signing at least one 2 or 3 pointer - so may as well get in first!
