  1. tbf to Starman, I kind of agree with him here. Surely for this season at least, the Bees racing at Leicester is better than not racing at all? And longer terms, for speedway to survive in the UK, track/stadium sharing may be the way to go. I can totally understand the emotional reluctance of fans to do so, especially to traditional rivals, but for a sport with major financial issues, the way to survive may be the pragmatism of the reduced costs by sharing a track/stadium. Yes, I'm sure crowds would be significantly lower than at Brandon. But surely it is better than no speedway at all, those who are interested can go and those who don't want to can stay away. Surely having another promoter sub-letting off DH (or whoever ends up promoting at Leicester), may also provide the driver for the neccessary track alterations to be made at Beaumont Park, which would surely make it somewhat of a win win?
  2. Could any side afford 350k per year to run? Even assuming half can be recouped via sub-leasing, it's got to equate to 10k per home meeting. On a crowd of say 1000 with net receipts of 15k, that would leave 5k to cover all other costs, for both the home fixture and corresponding away meeting. Really sad news for bees fans. Could they track/stadium share with Leicester for a season while the sh%t gets sorted? Is Horton liable for the lease regardless of whether speedway runs at Brandon?
  3. Klindt will improve his average. Would be very surprised if Holder or kurtz do, though I think kurtz could get close to his starting average -suspect kurtz will average just over 7 and holder just under 7.
  4. How is Klindt a risk on a 5.4 starting average? You're even suggesting he will average 5? How is Klindt a risk on a 5.4 starting average? You're even suggesting he will average 5?
  5. No. Been confirmed it will be on 2017 only, must have 4 home and 4 away.hasn't been confirmed how "new" riders with existing El or pl averages will be treated when part of a redeclaration
  6. But current averages will be understated. For example holder averaged 9ish in a tougher format, in a tougher league. Would be ridiculous if he came in on his 2016 average. But a conversion of 1.2 rather than 1.4 would seem appropriate.
  7. Klindt only rode 4 pl meetings last year. He averaged over 6 the year before. He is arguably the biggest bargain available, given he is on a lower figure than he managed as hl in the EL last season.
  8. Reckon it may be better than the 83 side? It's certainly not better than this year's Coventry team though as some have posted (in fairness until these two signings I thought the team was looking ok, and tbh zach is an ok signing). Emil and bellego, think there were much better options to spend 12 points on. Puts a heap of pressure on Ellis, presume he and bellego will be paired at 3&4?
  9. If I look at scbs site, he rode 10 pl meetings in 2015. Averaged 7.07 with bonus, 6.15 without (my mistake I took the 7.07 as without bp). Anyway I reckon he will be 6.5+ this year, not convinced bates/sarj will be above 5. Kerr may be, assuming some time as reserve, but don't see him being above 5.5.
  10. I actually thought the first signings for Swindon were promising. However, that looks an ominous sign and I'm going to have to agree that coventry look stronger in this case!
  11. I suspect this is a "rare" case of Phil the ace had it wrong!
  12. Assuming though he averages 6.5, a gain of a point. Most riders will lose a point. So that's a 2 point swing over comparable riders.
  13. Only successful teams (I. E. those who are averaging above 43). And those teams would still have the option of guests or r/r.I'd rather that than the current rule, which generally allows stronger teams to strengthen.
  14. He only rode 4 pl meetings last year, so his SCB weighted El average is a much better gauge. He averaged over 7 in the pl in 2015. Lets see cone end of season which of those 4 riders averages the most.
  15. Can see smoli getting the wildcard and Doyle winning it...
  16. But my propsal does stop teams replacing riders who get an artificially high average from riding at reserve with a better rider. As they still need to be under 43 points. Basically that rule would discourage teams from "tactical syrengthening" mid season. Tbh, back in the 80s you didn't have rolling averages and it worked fine. Well yes. That could be done. I recall Cradley doing it in 84 in order to fit simon cross in. But then batch did it with rolling averages in effect in 2015 for Swindon so ward could be fitted.Tbh I'm not sure how u avoid that though, without using rolling averages with a complicated conversion method.
  17. of his last 20 meetings, he rode 13 as HL, 2 as 2nd strong, 5 as reserve. Kerr/Bates/Sarj spent their time bewteen 2nd strong and reserve. I would say without a doubt Klindt is 2 points better than those riders, SCB's "weighted average" stats from last year reflect this. And of course, his average is in fact lower that both Kerr and Sarjeant. that said, Kerr was somewhat disapointing last year, having been arguably the pick of the draft riders the previous year, and Bates has a lot of improvement to come. I'd still be highly surpised if Klindt does not average 1.5 more than any of those others, even though i expect the others to spend much more time in the easier reserve berth. it may however make sense for Freddie to ride at number 5. agree, i would be amazed if Wolves signed another 10+ rider
  18. just say any redeclaration must be under a 43 point limit. That includes if you replace a rider with a lower averaged one. Job done.
  19. Agree totally on the first point. But a rider who can gate is still going to do fine at wolves or poole. of course pc made 5 gates that night in the wet in 77.
  20. He averaged 6 last year. Riding in the EL which was a higher standard than the Premiership. Riding pre dominantly as hl in a format which pitted him pre dominantly against other hl. He should put at least a point on his average this year, whereas most other riders will drop a point. Basically he's a couple of points better than any other rider on a comparable average. And always has been. That's why Ivan won the world champs 6 times and greg 4 times, whereas pc and gollob won it once each.
  21. If swindon sign a 3rd hl, then I think their top 5 is equal to any side, albeit that would mean rubbish reserves.Wolves have fred, Thorssel and I presume masters and clegg to follow, which is the core of a strong team in this comp
  22. Uninspiring but decent enough last set of signings. Looks like poole and wolves will be clear favourites. Leicester and Somerset haven't named anyone, but I would be surprised if either name a side cas good as this bees line up. Reckon the bees team is similar in strength to rye house and swindon (albeit those sides yet to be completed, the swindon team could still go either way ), and a shade stronger than the rumoured aces side. Kl could name a good, average or poor side. In summary, the bees sidecwont win the league, it won't finish bottom, it could make the play offs. I'm pretty sure it will have the strongest treserve pairing in the league. And 5 youngish brits has to be a good thing?
  23. I thoufht their achieved average, buy minimum 2? But could be wrong.
