  1. Perhaps because they have designated race nights to avoid "doubling up" being an issue?
  2. Larry might have been the only member of the 80s Aces sides who could gate, but anyone who watched him round Hyde Rd on a regular basis would confirm it is very harsh (in fact entirely inaccurate) to say he was incapable of passing riders. Anyway for me G Kennett, Jessup, Schwartz, Andy Campbell, Richard Knight.
  3. TBF, the riders in the GP had I assume the option of going through the qualifying rounds. Id also say its fair to expect that the bottom 3 riders this tear (barring injury) wont have shown themselves to be in the top 15 riders in the world - alwys a hanful of riders who have a poor season, and others who have an unexpectedly good one.
  4. Surely not far off in the weeks Poole had two meetings?
  5. Out by a year, 75 is the year he could have done it. Personally I would have Holder ahead of Sanders,Crump snr and Wiltshire. I'd be tempted to include Darcy ahead of them as well, albeit on ability rather than achievements.
  6. Scrapping the 4 multiplier had zero difference. Basically you are saying if you are 4 or less you are a 4, 8 or less an 8 12 or less a 12. Effectively a grading system which would make a 4.01 rider unemployable.
  7. Unless someone signs him effective early June when the new averages come into force?
  8. No. Wigg refused to ride for England when it clashed with lucrative bookings in Europe. Tbf, I font think there is anyway taI would have got a wildcard in 13 ahead of D'Arcy. Most on here had him as finishing 15th and consensus was that he only got the we because he was British. Because she's neither a troll nor a moron?
  9. Hancock 20 more Vaculik 20 more Janowski 20 more Emil 20 more Zagar 20 more Bogdanovs 10 less
  10. Why is the redeclared team not showing on the speedway gb site? And did they really need the extra 0.02 heels vs tungate gives them to make it work? Have they redeclared under the 42 point limit?
  11. This. Thought nicki did very well to get the points he did - chasing rider was always faster but nickI rode good lines and was tough to pass, and of course got his leg into zagars path perfectly to get the exclusion. His aura has gone though, I reckon it's cos you can't consider anyone hard who has someone holding a fan to cool him!
  12. Really, can you provide a link? How did he qualify, doesn't meet any criteria that I can find?
  13. Just finished watching, absolutely cracking gp. Title race absolutely wide open, half a dozen possible world champa including Freddie who tbf I had finishing towards the bottom of the field. Last GP season for nicki and Greg? Nicki just looks slow, too early to write Greg off but hard to see him overhauling the young brigade.
  14. yes as I believe unlike TAi he could have qualified for dual nationality. But he chose Australia. Not sure how you think that proves you point rear Tsi? So to repeat - on what grounds do u think tao qualified to ride as an Australian?
  15. Don't know if you can say Collins was finished in 79, he did win two world titles, tip the averages and was one of the favourites for the world final in gotHenburg. But you are right in that he never looked like a world individual chimp after coming back from a season out, even though he was only about 28? in 1982. Agree from 77-83 Lee was capable of being world champion, even in his poorer seasons (82 stands out) he would have been capable of winning a one off meeting.
  16. But only one individual. Can't really blame tai for not winning a pairs title that doesn't exist. Or wtc titles when tai has been one of the outstanding performers but not had the team to support him. Tbf I would say there is still an argument that PC (either one) is the greatest British rider if all time, Tai the other candidate (I'll limit this to post war to avoid need to debate on Farndon etc). Bit no British rider has been more successful in the individual championship than tai.
  17. I notice you still haven't been able to explain on what grounds you think tai could have claimed dual nationality. .any chance of you admitting you were wrong?
  18. Don't reckon lee would have been in the series in 77. Even if he were it's hard to see past pc and ole battling for the title with Maurer 3rd. 80 and 83 lee would surely have finished on the podium, assuming he was in the 83 series.
  19. Imo 79 is the year when Lee would have been world champ under the gp format.
  20. But why enquire if they weren't going to select him?it's not as though there is any question as to whether he is one of the top two British riders.
  21. And back to the question of why Britain got only 5 places? Is there any chance lambert will get a wildcard for a later round? And good to see g laguta taking part.
  22. Dictated might be a word others would use. .
  23. My employment contract doesn't allow me to work for anyone else without my employers permission. And in my case it's unlikely that I'd pick up an injury that would hamper my ability to do my job. If I offered a builder 5 times the going hourly rate on the condition that he only worked on my house until it was completed, would that be unreasonable?
  24. Autrey could have been in 79. Probably not, but he would gave been one of half a dozen riders who could have won it. S moran obviously only a run off away. Kelly had the talent to have been but not the dedication.Lance king of course could have won it in 84. Sigalos certainly was good enough and but for injury could well have been a world champion. So many riders that "could have been" but for one stroke of bad luck or injury or one bad ride - jess up, carter, knudsen even les Collins. Whereas say Adams was a better rider than many who got close in the one offs, because to win under the gp system you need more than one good night. So while Adams may be one of the best not to have won it, I really don't think you can call him unlucky. Whereas Doyle could be considered unlucky.
