I think he would fit as a straight swap for Sedgeman when the new averages come out.
-
Really? K Bjerre has been on fire. Kerr and bates good. King surely would have been better at Brandon. If anything I think this season has shown bees would have been just outside the top 4

So every nation bar one running with their strongest line up...

The Riders Who Never Took Your Imagination Over The Years.?
waiheke1 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
Certainly ermolenko let Hancock passed on the last lap of an early 90s final so that Hancock qualified. Far less common these days, between that and getting rid of the old tac sub rule speedways credibility must be improving. Surely treating fans as mugs is thinking they are so thick as to swallow your lies a la Hancock. And yes penhalls departure did tell us something - he was a winner. -
Why not just bring in tungate for gappmaier when the new averages come out? I don't think your proposal fits average wise? Edit: is there really no multiplier being used between pl and Cl? Surely even the bspa cannot be that dim?

I think the 7 may still be counted I don't think the calculation "freezes" at 4 away?

Yet Ole and Eric never get the stick that Penhall does for doing the same. And in both cases all that was earned for compatriots was a run off that they lost! -
thisSteve, when Starman is the voice of reason you need to ask yourself some questions mate

Yet a further 10(?) world champs not on your list would have ridden London tracks in the 80s/90s, admittedly more than a km from your homeAs a side topic: list of riders people have seen crowned as world champ? And riders people have seen riding while reigning world champion. I've seen just two crowned, Egon in 83 and Eric in 85. Riding while world champ then Lee, Penhall, Gundersen, Nielsen, Muller (if you include his victory lap), hancock, Holder and Tai.

Steve are you trolling or too thick to stop replying to the flange. Everyone knows he is a troll but your arguing with him is getting just as tedious. Stick him in ignore ffs

Chris Holder Average Farce At Kings Lynn

Think it would need one or two good meetings from porsing in order to lift his average high enough to allow tungate in as a like for like swap when the new averages come out

Chris Holder Average Farce At Kings Lynn
waiheke1 replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bit if a sweeping statement, given that no 4 and 4 averages have been released yet in the Pl! Cate to name the promotions that have "had a field day."Doyle was accused of fiddling his average, yet is 2nd in the averages. Holder and KK have been poor everywhere, and in KK case Poole are likely to be over 42 points so a high average would be much more useful than a low average. Any other riders been accused of deliberately dropping their average? Basically scb weighted rider averages from each meeting last year, depending on whether they rode as a hl a 2nd string or reserve. From their you could get a suitable multiplier for any rider who did not ride EL. And then apply another waiting factor to ensure that teams at the desired strength could be built to a 42 point limit.Averages would have borne a true reflection of performance and we would not have had the current mess where point limit changes during the season and it seems the rules on request declarations allow you to build a side 15% stronger than the initial team building rules allowed. -
I think expectations were high for this one because the SEC event at the same track last year was arguably the best meeting of all time.GPs last year were generally of an excellent standard, and clearly so too was the last GP. This meeting was OK in terms of racing, but I can understand people being a little fisapointed, and clearly the track could have been better prepared

At home it has to be the 84 Aces team, who routinely wracked up 50 point, and even multiple 60+ scores yet somehow ended the season trophy less, runners up in all 4 competitions. Never boring despite the scores, as Ross Courtney Mort Smith PC P Carr and Mckinna were all racers. But taking away form into account, has to be the 82 title winning side. Strongest BL side I saw was the Cradley side of 83, best WTC side the Denmark line up of mid 80s of Gundersen Nielsen Jan O and Knudsen. Some of the Polish club sides of recent times make that Heathens side look average though...
-
arguably Leicester, Rye, Somerset.. there issues are that there top ends are not strong enough. You can afford to carry a weak 7, its only 3 riders per meeting. But a strong top 2 is a must, as that is 10 riders per meeting. Lambert should mean KL have 7 riders contributing most meetings.
-
to be pedantic, Blixt rde only 4 meetings in 82 and Stenclund none. You missed our Kevin Smith. Tbf, there have been far worse sides than that one, which was really just an extra HL short of being a decent side. and in fact some would average over 11. But, that doesn't tell you anything about the strength of the league. The Polish league now is far stronger than the BL used to be, and only a couple of riders normally average over 10. In Britain, the key factor is the change in heat format. The introduction of heat 15 alone is likely to knock 0.5 off the average of an "old 10 pointer" and a point off an "old 9 pointer." The league has been watered down, but those figures in no way prove it (tight conclusion, false argument). The main driver is the much tougher heat format in use last season. That is also the driver behind the reduced number of macimums. Courney and Woods are both interesting cases. Both had superb "breakthrough" seasons in 1983, where they became true HL abnd England internationals. Courney had an ok 84 season for Belle Vue (great at home, pretty rubbish away) and then faded badly thereafter - recall an Aces programme in 84 bemoaning his lack of application. Woods from memory had an awful 84 season, and retired at one point? Returned, but like Courtney never got close to repeating the form of 83, depsite being pretty young at that stage. The shrinking of the BL to 11 teams may have been a factor, top HL maintained their averages, but a lot of others dropped markedly (thinking of the likes of Woods, Courtney, Campbell, Andy Grahame), I would say at least in part due to the talent being "condensed." To me, the two weakest teams I saw were the Eastborne and Swindon teams of 83. Certainly the Eastborne side that year was (on paper) eve weaker than the 84 side which Aces thumped 64-14. Weakest Aces side I saw in my years attending Hyde Rd was proably the 86 side - Morton was still a good number 1, Blackbird had a great season, Mckinn was solid, and Eccles impressed at reserve - but PC dropped over 2 points off his average, Andy Smith missed the whole BL with injury (eplaced by a lacklustre Courtney) and Barry Ayres was out of his depth - think the Aces finished 2nd bottom?

Grand Prix Challenge 2017
waiheke1 replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
understood, conceptually. However, so far this season there is no way you can argue that Lindback is the 15th best rider in the world. He's been awful i the GPS, and only 20th in the Swedish averages. No way imo you can argue he is better this season than say Prem Pawlicki or Kenny Bjerre. You could argue the same about Holder. -
Lambert is surely the best signing Stars could have made, certainly strengthens them at reserve. He'll be one of the better number 7s in the league, if he can score 3 from 3 heats, which he is quite capable of doing, then that is likely a 4-5 point swing per meeting. what Stars really need is for Holder to fire consistently, as the rest of the team (bar perhaps Porsing) have more or less been doing their job. If holder can add 3 per meeting, which tbh he should be doing, then between that and the resreve switch your looking at a 10 point per meeting swing.

Disappointing meeting after the incredible SEC round there last year. Championship is wide open. Anyone of the top 8 plus zmarzlik more than capable of being world champ. Great to see Emil looking close to top form. Relieved to see everyone walk away from that horrific looking spill. Tai abut unlucky I felt, looking as good as anyone and he'll be in the mix come end of season. Tai emil Doyle and dudek would be my picks for top 4 come end of season. Disagree. You will only fit 12k? at the NSS which would sell out for sure. I doubt it would impact materially on Cardiff attendance.

Is There A Need For Guest Riders?
waiheke1 replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Handy for all those riding for London clubs... just to confirm, for that price you can check two speedway bikes as your luggage? -
I'm not a Poole fan but I expected KK to be one of the top number ones in the league - probably only behind Doyle. I was wrong (so far) but not sure who Poole could sign as a replacement. People suggesting two 2nd strings to replace KK and Shanea - no way does that strengthen Poole.

Is There A Need For Guest Riders?
waiheke1 replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There is no viable alternative to cover missing number ones.Rr for other hl is fine (or guest if more than 1 misding). Fixed race nights (2 nights EL, rest for PL) would remove the guest for DU issue. Missing 2nd string/reserve should be covered by designated number 8 or local junior. Don't see a viable way to eliminate guests, but they certainly could be minimised. Remember back in the 80s of both sides were misding a number one they would agree to replace with a local junior. Today people would know in advance and attendances would be hit hard.
