What a shambles the bspa have made of the rules for this year, and as chairman Chapman must take responsibility. We are in June and the rules are still not clear.

In what way would a draw have been the fair result? Again just going off updates but seems Aces were on the wrong end of a couple of decisions that cost them points.Agree seems really strange that Robbo was picked over King for heat 15. Very happy with that result -
The whole thing is a shambles. Anyone with half a brain could see the issues for each of the last 4 seasons, and each season the bspa surpass themselves with their ineptitude. The only positive is that after this season everyone should have a "normal" average. Can anyone else see Poole redecorating with a side where kk is a 6.5, zengota a 4.9 Newman a 3.5 and a rider like lindback on a 7? 42

Wow. So potentially none of the three bv heat leaders..that will pull the crowds in. Whereas a gp night , no riders would be missing. -

I'd like to know what the banking was at the Shay!?! I never thought of Hyde Rd as being banked, even though I sat 3rd bend every week, but the banking at the shay was immense -
Woffy got a spot because he was British. But how many continental riders over the years got a world final spot based on bring from the east, when they would have had no chance going via the inter continental route riders like starostin and ondrasik. I'd say Lee would have made the gp series in 78, so only a year later than he did. And remember Emil is one of only a handful of riders to have finished on the podium as a teenager. I'd say the riders that miss out are those who have one outstanding season. Someone like les Collins in 82 for example would never have been in the series, and had he qualified in 82 for the 83 season, would have finished close to bottom in 83 when he never got close to repeating the sane form. Agree with you regarding laguta, good to see him going through the qualifying rounds.

Biggest And Most Important Bspa Meeting

One lap dashes are not the answer imo. Speedway is at its best when there is overtaking, think mort or Pc or darcy stalking someone for three and a half laps then passing them on the last bend. Better fixture planning would get rid of most of the du issues Some good ideas on here, but not the one lap dash -
Mauger and Briggs wouldn't have been selected, they would have qualified by finishing in the top 8 the previous season. Mauger I'm sure would have loved the GPS, but only becuase they favour the best riders compared to the one-off finals. i will agree though that the GPs dont have the "magic" of the old world final. and i do miss the old qualifying rounds, remember attending several overseas finals and a couple of commonwealth and inter-contintenta finals, and they were highlights of the season. but on the plus side, it is more likely the best rider in the world will be world champion, the quality of field is higher, and the standard of racing much better.

apart from Ellis, i'm not sure your middle order or reserves are underperforming, i think they are doing as expected? But Tungate for Gappmaier would certainly strenghten you considerably
-
a little pedantic? i suspect Shovvy was rounding the 0.09, or may not have had the figures in front of him?
-
it does as soon as the new averages come out. if everyone had a horrible next meeting, you could also bring in newman for lambert, as it stands those 2 changes would be about 0.8 too high or bring in tungate and newman for Rose/Lambert, which of course would be very harsh on Rose
-
Nothing to exclude them? A number of double uppers are in the qualifying rounds. Obviously the ridiculously low number of spots for Brits restricts things, but if a 2nd tier rider won the British final they would be in with a chance (in fact at the time Danny King got his spot announced, he may have been a PL only rider)
-
But when the new averages come out he will be on a 6.5. Can you name anyone better on that average?
-
Is that a bad thing, given for example that this year has basically the top 15 riders in the world in it? It's hard to name more than 1 or 2 riders who would improve it, and none who would be contenders. In any case, there are 3 spots available for riders outside the top 8 in the world to qualify for. I'd say in many respects that is an easier task than qualifying for the world final via the old inter continental round.
-
When the new averages come out I'm pretty sure something like Kk Kurtz Andersen lindback (or other 7pt rider) holder Newman Shanes would fit. Starke vs Newman gives Poole a couple of points to play with for now, as soon as new averages come out Newman gives a point saving of around 0.5 I believe.
-
Would be amazed of it is too long before Newman is back on a pirates race jacket on a very nice 3.5 average. Can see a very strong Poole team come the play offs.
-
As someone who was a regular.at Hyde Rd in the 80s, with frequent visits to The Shay and Odsal, you won't find many with as much respect as I have for carters ability. But imho there is no way he can be ranked ahead of either PC, Woffy or Lee. Would struggle to see him ranked ahead of the likes of Williams or Price either. In terms of post war Brits I'd suggest carter along with Parker are arguably the two best not to be world champ, but I'd have Parker ahead of kc
-
And this is Starmanesque levels of irony
-
Swpuld tungate and Newman fit for porsing and lambert when the new averages come out? Not that I can see Newman being allowed to ride elsewhere, with a nice 3.5 average for later this season/next season.

Yeah, why would anyone want to compete at the pinnacle of their chosen sport? Why would anyone want to compete in the speedway event that gets by far the most tv coverage for their sponsors? This. And you can hardly blame the draw, given that two riders from this event are in the other semi. And none of the 4 are surprise qualifiers. -
I wouldn't be surprised if he's back before the end of the season, as his average of around 3.5 will make him relatively easy to fit in. I'd be sure that this move is done with an eye to further changes.
