I think those line ups illustrate why the idea won't work. The disparity between top and middle, let alone lower, riders increases so you've I'll see much more strung out racing. Crowds would halve I reckon. Plus no way you will get riders like holder and Doyle signing up to do 42 meetings a season in Britain.

next someone should ask if heat 15 counts towards the averages... -

Greg Laguta? Patryk Dudek Plechanov Listed in reverse order -
But he has been consistently one of the top 10 riders in the world, arguably until last season. I think he certainly deserves inclusion ahead of a number of riders listed here.

Double upping per Se is not the issue, it's the horrible scheduling. Why not say EL is two and a half nights per month (non GP Friday's being the half) and PL/NL the other 4.5 nights. Higher league always takes precedence except in cases of re scheduled fixtures, or a rider transferring clubs mid season. And get someone with a brain to plan the fixtures to minimise clashes. That should mean only facilities are needed for injuries . Restrict facility to the three hl, 4-7 can be covered by a designated number 8 (must have lower average than rider replacing) or a NL rider.
-
iThough what wouldn't make sense if that was the case was taking all 4 of his rides. Presumably he could have ridden one only, and then been replaced by reserves? And that would have meant ending with a higher average than he now has? 6.36 on latest green sheets? Not sure it changes materially. It was at 6.36 before the meeting, which is less than he had been averaging before the meeting this season. Don't have stats to hand but when the next averages come out I think it will be within about 0.1 of that.

Out of interest, what is your issue with Lambert? Clearly the day after the Lynn meeting he was racing while far from fully fit. Would you have been happier if he had raced for Lynn and scored 2 or 3 points, rather than being able to use a facility? -
Fully agree, Janniro should be ranked number 1. Though What amazes me more is that no one had Jason Bunyan ahead of mauger Moore and Briggs on the Nz thread. Tbh in the 70s you only had Autrey and in the late 70s Penhall and Schwartz racing in Europe of any note. And as I recall Autrey picked up a ban for not competing at least one year. The likes of Siggy Morans Preston Cook King Ermolenko etc only really emerged in the 80s (for the pedants, yes Kelly impressed in 79)

Belle Vue V Kings Lynn Wed 28/6/17
waiheke1 replied to hyderd's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not sure. Reckon the same people whinging would complain if he rode and scored badly, saying he shouldn't have ridden half fit, guest would have been better etc. -
Yes. My question then should have read when does Kk get an average of 6.5 per his current year displays. But probably I should just look up myself how many meetings ridden and when he will hit 4/4

Agreed. As comparison Im pretty sure that nz drew more every year, and nz is hardly a hotbed of speedway talent... -

6 rides as I believe can be used for a tac sub ride Yes to all three -
If Doyle is not fit, it is unlikely but not impossible that we could beat aussie. The real issue us that if lambert were at reserve we could take a gamble on his fitness, now I'm not so sure we can. Though should at least be capable of 2nd with Ellis taking up to 4 rides so maybe still is worth the risk.
-
to rephrase, an average based purely on 2017 not the random hybrid average currently allocated to him
-
Or use rr. Andersen, holder and starkex2 may do as good a job as any replacement. How many meetings til Kk gets a new average? Could Poole have any spare points then?

Speedway World Cup 2017
waiheke1 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Except in case of tape exclusion, injury or one of the squad having an off night... plus I presume reserve can be used if needed for the double point ride so having one of your two best riders in a position where he can be put into any heat is clearly an advantage. -

Happy enough with Ellis as u21 rider in absence of lambert. But imo lambert should have been named as the u21 reserve. Not a criticism of Ellis or any of the other u21 riders, but at this stage none are at the level of King or Nicholls or arguably Richie Worrall who would have been the squad candidates had rosco named lambert at reserve. -

The only way Robert wouldn't get a ride at reserve would be if the 4 were cleaning up. It's just an awful call And this highlights the bad decision. Lambert could have been at reserve and one ride may have been enough to show if he was race fit or not. Can't take that risk now with Ellis at reserve, but could have with king in the team.
