Is that the weakest ever top flight side fielded? -
The FIM get a fee and that should be passed through to the respective countries. No idea what actually happens to that money.GP series is by far my favourite speedway, though obviously my nearest track being 10+ hours flight away makes a difference there - if I was attending the NSS each week I'm sure the Aces would be my number one focus. The GP series is though speedway as it should be- but agree there should be a better flow of income to federations and arguably riders as well.

Not convinced the GP series is the main issue. I'd say the Polish and Swedish leagues are the main problem, without them the top riders would all still be riding in GB and the only impact of GPs would have been to remove a number of Saturday nights from the British calendar. If British speedway was presented like the gps and of the same quality a lot of issues would also disappear.

Not according to speedway stats or proboards sitea. 8.84 Inc BP in 2011 seems to be his best season.I understand the arguments that the league is weaker now, but I'd say Batch is riding as well, or close to as well, as he ever has. It's just that he seems to annoy his home fans because he's a mardy aussie who doesn't like riding when it's wet. -
Somerset V Belle Vue. 4.8.17.

Which they can under the IRR rule so I don't see your point? In fact even before the IRR rule if someone was injured or fell sick reserves could take their rides -

OK. But according to sped way stats website average wise this is his best ever season? Or at least was as of end of June. -
At the start of each season, every rider without a valid average from the previous season in the UK, who competed in a European league should be assigned a converted average that applies if they join the UK.So as an example someone riding ekstraliga and averaging 8 might be assigned a conversion rate of 1.15 so would come in on a 9.2. Easy to do and would be totally transparent. Yes there would still be the occasional "bargain" but at least it would be clear to all.

Really? I'm pretty sure it's not new that you cannot get a replacement for a rider competing in a non FIM individual meeting overseas? SEC specifically the rule (no favility) has been the same for the last 4 or so seasons

Those top tier figures seem low?

Batch is averaging 8.31 this year with BP or 7.94 without? Not sure where you get the 7 from?He sits 11th in the averages of those who have ridden more than half a dozen meetings, which is roughly where you'd expect him to be? You can accuse Batch justifiably of many things, but I don't think you can complain that his results this year are disappointing. Not good luck, it was a good move, and one that was 99% likely to have improved them.Of course the ridiculous rule which allowed Musielak to come in on that low average i's another story... -
Poole used the rule that was there legitimately - until of course hans ride again at which point they should have lost the facility. The facility to replace injured rider was removed to prevent any such abuse - it's just unlucky that we've had an injury. Though who are we thinking we would have got in who is better than rr? The rules which is more likely to cost aces the title and is the really stupid one is the rule that said at the start of the season a 1.4 multiplier was attached but once the point limit dropped to 42 NO multiplier attached. The only possible logical decision was a multiplier of 1.2 to apply. Fair play to Swindon for taking advantage but musielak should have had an average 20% higher which would have stopped them making the swap they did.

Greg Hancock Hurt?

Bruce Penhall still gets plenty about his actions 35 years on.Worst thing for me was Hanvock walking out of the meeting when sprung and subsequent lies gabout the incident. -
OK. Whatcwould you say is the "spirit" of removing the ability to make an injury replacement after the deadline? And how does that differ from the actual rule. Fans moan about too many guests so BSPA responded by reducing the scenarios in which a guest can be used. And fans whinge. Fans whinge about the year end changes last year. BSPA prevent such changes. Fans whinge. Aces fan and it sucks Fricke is injured, but the rules are the same for all and should be adhered to so let's stop whinging and just get on with it. I'd say both are equal blows. Zach is less easily covered but that impacts only rides per meeting. The new rule doesn't really hinder swindon, as ability to get a permanent replacement would be as limiting as getting guests. For Fricke a permant replacement may have been better than rr.

A range of ways, most of which have been proposed on here countless times. And none of which, surpising as it may be, is continually diluting the product. -
steve - can you confirm how you believe removing the rule which allowed injury replacements after the transfer deadline is in anyway related to Tai coming into replace Joonas at Wolves? As opposed to the post deadline injury replacement of Lindback for Hans?

Greg Hancock Hurt?
waiheke1 replied to False dawn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
he's also correct that greg has been a bot of a tw@t over the last 18 months or so, the "highlight" probably being the tantrum after being exlcuded in the GP, a display which would have shamed a man 45 years younger. But it's irrelevant to Greg's status as a legend, he has to be regarded as comfortably within the top 20 riders to have graced the sport. -

Well Kennett was signed before "that night" at KL, so unless Buster and/or Ford are psychic, I would say that that is unlikely -

you're back!?!? Did you spend the last couple of years recovering from meeting up with Sidney In all seriousness, welcome back, I for one have missed your postings. Hopefully the NSS has been enough to tempt you back to live speedway as well. i dont think its even a fallacy, i don't think anyone belives it to be true. And as Oldace mentions you would need a 100% increase not a 50% increase. What it does show though is that speedway has the potential to significantly improve attendances, and that there is some element of price elasticity in terms of demand, at least on a short term basis. And people attending a 50% full stadium I would say are more likely to enjoy the experience and want to return than those attending a meeting with a 30% full stadium. -
yep, and there were many other "xxxracing" or "yyyFan." The obsession seemed to swing between Aussie and Scandinavian riders. Possibly there was a JasonBunyanracing at one point. Arya as well I think.
-
and therefore in absence of a top rider being available he was willing to settle for Holder and Batch instead? don't see how they would have fitted though - you'd have had to ditch Andersen and Kennett or something like that?
-
not true Steve. There are two rule changes this season: first one is the early deadline of 31st July for any changes. That one is brought in to prevent moves like the Wolves Tai for Joonas swap. However, the rule change which impacts Belle Vue is the removal of the provision for changes after the deadline in case of injury. That change is clearly brought in as a response to last year, when Poole replaced Hans with Lindback due to Hans's "season ending" injury, which proved to be a misnomer as he raced again overseas. well obviously you don't get it, as he explained what would happen in that situation but you've asked the same question If you had two injuries you run RR and a guest. If you have 3 injuries, you run RR and two guests etc.
