  1. Peterborough decent value at 8/1? Holder hampel and nki all look good value @ 10/1 for the world title. Dirty nicki surely a better chance than the 18/1 available. Tai at 5/1 not too bad either - all the above look even more appealing if emil were to withdraw.
  2. Have to agree with that, there are four teams that I can conceivably see as champs ( poole kl bv and coventry) and while realistically I can see any team other than brum leicestet and lakeside as potentially making the play offs, I cant see the champ s being anyone from outside that four (without major team changes).
  3. I think some confusion, by so high scb was meaning so highly favored (I.e. surprised odds so low). Lukasdryml agree ing and saying 10/1 a fairer price. Consensus seems to be eadtborne have a good draw (I.e. meeting teams when those teams are understrength).
  4. Yes your right who on here has never been before the courts on serious sex offence charges who are we to say its wrong to shove vodka bottles up drunk fans who hasnt tried to escape the police while under the influence I oppologise on behalf of all the mother theresas on here for dsring to suggest that any of those actions are wrong god nos no ones perfect
  5. Really? Which season was it that most teams had two of the top three riders in the world in their line up? I understand the point you are making, but you are significantly overstating your case.
  6. Aces at 8/1 look best value Kings lynn decent vslue at 3/1 also
  7. No one is saying that the pl isnt as entertsining as the el.Just as you can watch a lower leahue football game and it provide more end to end excitement than a premiership match. However, prices are tied to the quality of the sports people, and the wages they earn relative to those at lower levels. On this basis, the pl speedway should be around 40% of yhe price of the el (basically the conversion rate for averages). So if el charges 15 quid, 9 or 10 quid would be about right for pl. Of course neither vleague could afford to charge ten quid, unless they can increase the quality of overall entertainment package to attract at least a 50% increase in paying customers.
  8. Would you say most people have inserted a vodka bottle into an extremely drunk teenager? Fled from the police on a motorbike while under tge influence? I would suggest 99% of people on here have not done nothing like this.Im a big fan of ward tge speedway rider, and disagree with those who say he doesnt use his head - to me he has a superb racing brain seeing options other riders do not - BUT I can totslly understand those who dislike him because of his behaviour outside speedway
  9. And under gp scoring he wouldnt have won the title. But he is clearly one of the six or seven riders with a genuine world title chance.
  10. Are you forgetting that a barely fit tai battled his way to the world title last year?
  11. Favourite for me this year, but like others have said, not attractive at those odds. Was tge best rider in auckland last year, despite a poor draw with two heats off gate 4, so will be interesting to see how he goes this year and may put a small bet on him winning that.
  12. Because bill Buckley was willing to front the cash, and it enabled an extra gp to be run very early in the European season.
  13. Have been no tac subs in the el for a number of years now.
  14. I think its reasonably obvious that you'd charge more for rights to host gps in a country where a. There are a lot of tracks keen to host them and a good attendance is guaranteed, than in a country where neither of the sbove applies. Thats not anti polish, just common sense.
  15. Surely in that case the team would just get the rider to fske an injury before the meeting and get a guest or r/r (if rr is allowed this year).I still think this is a good rule, it jyst needs wording well to svoid manipulation. The first r/r ride should need to be taken by a rider with a lower average. I disagree with those suggesting that the facility should only be available to riders not at fsult - imagine the controversy ifctwo riders crash in the firstvheat, both ate injured but only one side gets to use r/r, and its the wrong team cos the ref makes a shocker of a decision. Also perhsps stste thst only injuries resulting or aggravated in a crash during the meeting render a rider eligible for r/r - claiming tummy ache or a sore fingernail would require replacement by reserves.
  16. In what way have bsi got themselves into this? They have a contract with fim, what other business can you nsme would say "I think we are making too much profit, and the company we pay our license fee to doesnt seem to be shsring it sround equitably, so lets just pay out some extra money? The only way I can see an argument thst bsi is perhsps to blame is by asking too high a fee to host events, as pz alludes to. However, surely the answer is for cities to say"no thanks not at thst price." Yet Bsi dont seem to be lacking in venues willing to pay to host events though, albeit the large losses in nz making it unlikely to continue here beyond 2014.
  17. Surely the msin point is that bsi pay 1.5m quid a year to the fim to have rights to run the world champs and swc. If one sport want to run a rival/parralel competition/s ( euro champs and world psirs) surely they should be paying fim an almost equivalent amount. Possibly you could argue a smaller fee as there are less meetings, but then others seem to think bsi make too much money and have therefore been undercharged? And then people would stop the ridiculous claims that this is an anti polish thing, and instead ask the important question, what do fim do with the money.
  18. It was Henderson I was referring to, not luckhurst. Apologies, was not clear, but per responses below it seems my recollection was right and he found god snd became a social worker.I think iam thomas said something like "if he wants to help the needy, he can get on his bloody speedway bike and help us."
  19. Was that the aussie kid who found god and quit speedway?
  20. Yes. Blrc winner in 80, inter continental champ and world number 2 in 82, I definitely rank him ahead of cox. Do you dissgree?
  21. It was before - its league cup from about april. There are a couple of better meetings from hyde rd 82 on youtube, bv v cradley and england v usa, both featuring penhall. But its not a case of amazing racing each and every heat. I'm condtsntly amazed at people bemoaning the quality of the racing in the gps, I think they are consistently good. I watched most of my racing at hyde rd, and while it is the best racetrack of sll time imho, you still got poor races and poor meetings.
  22. Surely they must be a bit thick if they cant understand the home and away scoring? Its not rocjet science, and no more complex than that used in various rugby, cricket etc. Comps.
  23. Do you really think a newcomer cares about the nuances of race formats, averages and team building? I think they couldn't care less, and its only the die hard speedway fsns who do. Newcomers imho just want a good nighrs entertainment in a stafium with decent atmosphere, for a reasonable price.
