At those wages take your six point elite rider riding say 30 meetings. 27k a year before tax and significant expenses. Clearlyyou couldnt make a living on that alone, hence the need for riders to double up which everyone moans about. Yet the riders are also accused of being greedy. Yet if they turn up on slow equipment the fans would quickly want rid of them! And I have a sneaking suspicion that insurance, track and stadium maintenence costs are somewhere north of zero... as a promoter, if you've invested in owning a stadium outright, you'd surrly expect at least a 5% p/a return on that?

That's not the point. People aren't saying they should be in the four/five (except maybe lambert for the kl meeting). They are saying there are 3 or 4 slots in a ten msn ssquad for riders who are clearly not going to get a race, so why not give those spots to riders of the future rather than riders who are not, and arguably never will be, international clsss. -

Re-read drop a cog's post. Do you think that is really the width of the track they are planning to build? If you answer "yes" then you have won an amazing prize. Please send me ten thousand quid as a processing fee, and the prize will be sent immediately. Congratulations! -

On form, probably r worrall is the only one you can query, but he is young and with plenty of kl experience. The likes of lawson and stead are probably in the top ten brits on form, but surely spots 7-10 should have been picked on basis of potential. -

End of the day they are running a business. Your standard local business won't publish their turnover figures, overheads or profits, why should a speedway club? Some sports do have a salary cap, but there are enforcement issues, and tbf with the points cap speedway has an even better mechanism for ensuring a level playing field. Have they really got too greedy? In any industry workers will try to earn the market rate. If employers wont match their expectations, they need to accept a lower offer or take work elsewhere. If employers offer more than they can afford, they only have themselves to blame. -

Tbh I would probably have left out lawson too and had both. Realistically the four is going to be tai harris and they two from barker Bridger king and cook, unless we went with lambert at kl. So why not fill the remaining spots with the riders who are the future? -

In a ten man squad surely they could make room for the likes of r lambert and garrity. No disrespect, but why put a thirty something second string like stead in? -
Agreed. So the issue really isnt that the rights weren't the fims to sell, but how they distribute (or fail to distribute) those funds.

Wasnt the issue last year that the russian federation wouldnt pay ANYTHING - not eve n travel expenses?Real shame that what should be one of the most talented and exciting teams fielding such a weakened side. -

Yes. If I was leading the world title race I'd definitely decide to retire half way through the season.I think you csn probably find 14 other people who would agree that now is a good time for greg to retire... -
Im pretty certain the old tactical sub ride was officially sanctioned, and that is more of a "fiddle" than the double point rule? Darcy ward? Tai? Emil? Dirty nicki? Lots of sports have points for losing by ccertain margins - cricket and rugby comps spring to mind. Speedways point system that is hardly complex is it?I agree with your comment on world cup/ gps being a product, and that is what the el needs to aspire to being. A1: 80sA2: 31-40

Just to clarify: you would rather watch speedway at Leicester than brum because of the stadium. But you wouldn't pay an extra ten quid to watch the worlds best riders, riding eight extra heats, in a world class stadium and with racing likely to be better than you would see at bp? (appreciate there is extra travel cost getting to cardiff) I explained in my post how I came to my odds. You hadn't answered the previous questions about how u came up with your figures, and as scb had pointed out your methodology is "pure rubbish" as it is not one a bookmaker would use. This I do agree with. I found it so frustrating that you had the likes of tai and darcy chasing riders, having much better speed, but as soon as they went off the line to try to pass they went backwards. You know something is wrong when you are willing someone like ward to just consolidate rather thsn try to pass. -
Yeah, you never hsd riders seeded on basis of nationality in the old days...And never any "favours" in the qualifying rounds either. .. Would you say world cup football rights belong to fifa or the english fa? Dont have to imagine at all. Throughout the 80s no continentsl european (except egon) was in the top 30 riders in the world, yet 5 spots were given up every world final to them...Whereas now at most a couple of places are granted on ground s of nationality

Can u let me know who the winners of the next couple of gps so I can put some money on .Seriously, I'd agree standings would be useful, but it's not like that info is hard to find online if u want it

If he had eight rides maybe. With seven rides its approx 16000-1 on a rider doing it, if you take the simplistic assumption that a rider has a one in four chance of winning a heat. -

Where would u hold the british gp then? Nothing wrong with western springs this year. Think it comes down to individual track prep rather than a case of all temp tracks being bad. Agree that this is quite poor though -
And coventry have had hansen in and out of hl spot. Bech moved up at lakeside. Birmingham and eastborne and Leicester all had changes too im pretty sure. Just kl poole swindon and bv, all of whom have three genuine (ish) hl who haven't had a swap.
