  1. A lot of work gone in here. But a marketing plan that doesn't mention online strategy and frankly seems 20 years out of date. Mention of need to develop riders skills by racing at the highest level, then proposes reducing the standard of top flight racing?
  2. Ahead of Pawlicki and Cook, same points per meeting as Vaculik. 6.5 points per meeting is hardly useless at that level.
  3. Right. Because the best rider in the world regularly failed to qualify for world finals. Tai is obviously nowhere near the quality of the likes of Troy Butler, Olli Tyvarrinen, Mervyn Cox, Trevor Hedge, Larry Ross etc. Chris Morton was a regular and much as he is one of my all time favourites, to say he was better than Woffy is laughable
  4. Not sure how that deduction of point from riders score but not team score would work? Surely the team would just pay the rider for the deducted point? And would be great for average reduction. Seems to give an incentive not to clear the track Would have to go bsck to the old start procedure rules.
  5. He may have been poor by his standards, but finished 12th and averaged close to 7pts a meeting which is hardly outclassed
  6. I'm not sure what your point is? Yes speed is a combination of ability and equipment. Noone has denied Woffy has good equipment. Has there ever been a world champion with poor equipment? Certainly not in my lifetime, and before thst Mauger is praised for his professionalism. The likes of Carter and Collins had supremely quick equipment. In one of Pcs books in reference to the 77 world final he makes a comment about his bikes being as quick or quicker than any of his rivals.
  7. Top 10 of all time is perhaps an unrealistic benchmark? By definition you'd expect only one such meeting every couple of seasons. There were 2 or 3 poor GPs , the rest were good to excellent imo. Personally think the last few seasons have been amongst the very best in the gp era, and better than most world finals from 69 onwards (can't comment on pre the recording era)
  8. Was definitely higher than 48 limit in 83. It may have cone down to 48 in 1984. It may even have been 51in 83.
  9. And the other reserve (Peter ravn) made that year's world final as reserve. Including Ravn they had 4 world finalists that year, the others would ride in a world final within the next two seasons. Aces still beat them in the premiership though! By far the best team I've seen, built I believe to a 50pt limit. A better side imo than the unbeaten Oxford team of 86 that was built to 45 with a compulsory junior.
  10. Tbf it's only Zmarzlik whose speed seems on another planet. Woffy is as quick as any of the other poles. Have to say in the final gp I was wondering how it was possible Zmarzlik could be so quick...
  11. But the the likes of Carter and Collins always had access to top equipment, certainly the equal of their main rivals. Let's face it some of those you have named are nowhere near the quality of Tai
  12. Pearson makes some horrible blunders. But generally they do a good job imo.
  13. The gp series has been dull? I can only assume you have always found speedway dull. Gp series has been excellent, as was the SoN. And pretty much everything from the NSS. Racing in ekstraliga has been typically good as well.
  14. Yet Zagar also missed a meeting and averaged more per meeting over the series - around a point more than Nicki and two more than Vaculik.
  15. Only disappointing in the gps. In the leagues he has had an excellent season. I struggle to see how Vaculik had a better claim...
  16. Agreed. So ending with 5-7 titles? Maybe would have got close 75-78 but likely to be the olsen/Collins years?
  17. 68-70,72-74. Any other years? But agree somewhat, for the top couple of riders in world the gp system would favour them. Everyone else had a better chance in a one off final.
  18. Not true. If BSI wanted more poles then surely Hampel and Drabik would have got wild cards. Reality is Poles are disadvantaged because they are rarely getting wc due to the number qualifying. If hampek/drabik was Danish or British I'm confident they would get a pick And the the Polish tracks and stadiums are excellent I wouldn't object to an extra round or two there- not sure it is massive home advantage when all the top riders race there. A bit like rounds in UK in the 80s.
  19. Yep. But in fairness havvy was closer to being the best rider in the world in 92 than Muller in 83, who was surely behind Lee,Carter,Morton,Sigalos,Sanders Nielsen,Gundersen - but was tipped as a potential champ due to the track.
  20. Well let's face it, that's understandable given how much easier it was given the heat format and lower standard compared to what Woffy races in Sweden and Poland...
  21. Relative to world standards, clearly it is lower. But i think you are missing the point around how the race format and number of teams in the league influences perception of riders ability.
  22. Yeah I hope a season out of gps does him good. Can't see him being world champ again but maybe challenging for top 3.
  23. Yep, this gp series has been incredibly dull, and clearly it is because riders like Woffy dont have a winning mindset...
  24. Correct. Because Woffy races the world's best multiple times a week (Actually per meeting, so often half a dozen times per week, or more than a dozen in gp week). Nielsen and Gundersen would face a world top ten rider maybe once or twice a week at most.
