  1. If not a peter craven memorial meeting at the start of 2016 would seem an appropriate way of opening the stadium.
  2. hans in 89 surely deserves a spot on that basis - utterly comprehensive, albeit agsinst a somewhat sub standard lineup.olsen in 71?
  3. an interesting anecdote, but I don't understand the clown smiley at the end?
  4. iirc the 75% is to be entitled to a visa. The work permit is needed because he doesnt fulfil those criteria, and hence approval was not a "given." but required special approval.Again iirc, and going back many years, I believe john cook was granted a work permit for racing in the uk, despite averaging under 5 in his debut season for Hull, when the requirement was 6. Exceptions to the rules can be possible by following the correct processes for such cases.
  5. he's 14 , so some way off legal Something a little bit reminiscent of the Morans in his style coming out of the corners.
  6. I'd find it hard to justify anyone being included in the top five ahead of mauger, briggs, fundin, nielsen and t rick.personally, I'd say craven may make the top 10 (outside the top 5 id say you have olsen craven moore pc x2 gundersen penhall j crump all battling for places), williams I would have behind all of those plus the likes of pedersen, hancock and possibly others.
  7. yep. Can you imagine the outcry on here if it was discovered a group of building companies had been breaking the rules by employing somalian builders in breach of their visa rules, and the "punishment" was making the firms attend a workshop. That would be tsken as evidence of the uks "open door" policies and what a "soft touch" the uk was.
  8. but the issue isn't with australians, or even speedway riders per se - its with an industry with seemingly systemic issues with breaching the rules imposed on employers.if the medical industry get permission to hire austrslian patamedics, but then also start hiring Australian orderlies and say they are fulfilking the same criteria, they may face issues.
  9. I think you undersell your argument.world champ, world pairs chsmp, wtc chsmp, blrc champ, danish champ, nordic champ, top of test averages, highest ever bl average. It's a pretty good shout, only "blemish" would be runner up to erik in the ic final, and I guess only considered a 50/50 chance (with erik) heading into final. I think it's a pretty good srgument. I assume tge 2nd query surrounds the methodology, as to why you would use a single season peak as opposed to sustained excellence as your criteria.
  10. If there is a systemic issue in an industry, it makes sense that there is a blanket ruling that all sponsors need to attend a course imho. It would seem this shouldnt ultimately be an issue, except for pl clubs who were planning to hire ineligible riders.
  11. a rider of ge uine potential should be able to achieve a top four placing in an aussie state championship.alternatively, a pl side should be willing to take a risk on them co.ing I on an assessed 7 average. remember teenagers such as jan o and prr jonsson had to join the bl on assessed 6 point averages, a d maintsin those to be elegible to ride. csnt see a ythi g in the rules stopping genuine talent from riding in the uk.
  12. I don't laugh when I hear that a new zealand rugby player plays for one team in the npc and another in super 15? I dont laugh when an nz crickrter plays domestic cricket in nz, england and the ipl. Why would a casual observer laugh at a speedway rider riding for multiple teams?
  13. why weaken the pl and reduce the earnings of british riders, when you could instead create positions by removing mediocre foreigners?
  14. why would a team only be able to build to 30?Belle vue and coventry would be weakened, but would be able to replace fricke and woidward with riders of a simikar average. Poole you mention would be ok, presumably replacing holder with someone like hancock as a short term measure. so can really only see swindon with batch and leicester with doyle with issues. But do u really believe the best replacement they could find would be a four pointer? Given that no rider last year finished on below 5? Worst case surely they may end a point or two below the limit at the start of the season, or just have to use guests. Even tai may make himself available short term if he could pick and choose meetings (or be allowed to "guest" even though not racing el). There are a range of options far more sensible and less drastic than chsnging the points limit or delaying the start to the season.
  15. iT is, and that criteria has been unchsnged for sometime. El the requirement is four points. Worth noting that no rider outside the ftr system averaged under 5 in the el last year.
  16. it should ultimately affect only some of the pl riders I.e. those who do not meet the quite lenient entry ctiteria, which I think scb worked out was about 7 of them. Fair enough to feel sorry forvthem, but ultimately both they and their club should hsve known they were not eligible.there are im sure 7 english riders who could fill these spots, perhaps not as well but not too far off. Would you feel simikarly sympathetic if it was a building company employing say somalian bricklayers who were not actually eligible for visas, on the grounds that they were "a bit better" than unemployed or underemployed british bricklayers?
  17. Anyone else think the clubs and bspa are getting off remarkably lightly if there have indeed been repeated breaches?
  18. would stuff any kiwis wanting to play in the uk.assume it would mean the likes of winston reid and chris wood would be unlikely to get visas renewed. In a non sporting context, the professional body I belong to sent out a letter regarding the tighter criteria for kiwis wantinng to work in the uk, though saying chsnces wrre still good as "highly skilled." Of course I yhink most of those who say uk immigration should be severely tightened have no issues with kiwis/aussies working in the uk, its more directed at those who are "visibly" immigrants or are non native english speakers (just as in nz the anti immigration brigade couldn't care less about poms coming in, its the likes of asians, somalians and to a lesser extent pacific islanders that are targeted).
  19. Again I like the suggestion sir h, but potential issue would be a) by half way through the season 80% of the match races would be meaningless as only a handful of riders would have a chsnce of qualifying riders letting their team mates finish ahead ofvthem.
  20. Back to the op. I think the idea of qualifying via domestic leagues is quite a good one, and would likely result in stronger riders qualifyingvthan the current gp challengevsystem. but could see issues such as riders not wanting to race in heat 15 for example as it id likelyvto drag their average down. I think also at least a couple of wildcard spots need to be retained to cover for injuries.
  21. no riders have been banned. Seems like all that is happenning is that the rules are being enforced, im sure the same applies to other sports.
  22. plenty ftom africa, south america and some from north America, asia and australasia. But they all need to fulful visa criteria.
  23. Being u21 champ I understand means he meets the criteria for a visa
  24. the first four on the list all average over 7. Fricke is national u21 champion.have woodward or north finished top four in a state competition?
  25. in the same interview as saying he's been punished enough?Either way seems to be a risky move by darcy's legal team - if all is found to have been done in a legit way, surely running the risk that fim will give him the maximum possible ban.
