If You Could Bring Back One Rider...
waiheke1 replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ronnie moore, because it would be great to have a kiwi challenging for the world title again. -
I dnt know, his post on the Echo was ok...

wonder what the nz state champs are? North and south island? Or if they are provinicial champs, being our closest thing to states (not that we have such champs to my knowledge). But id say the standard to come top 4 in manawatu or northland may not be too high!

Greg Hancock How Good.?

I'd also add that my view is perhaps somewhat colored by watching mostly at hyde rd, where eric was the most feared visiting rider (bar kc). Hans really only became dominant around hyde rd a little later, around the time he waa dominant on each and every track. -
with stronger reserves and 2nd strings this season I yhink the level is about right. They will meet the likes of cook pk barker bridger etc.no easy rides for the m

Not sure I agree grachan. Up to 80 hans was clearly ahead. but eric was far better than hans in 81 and arguably 82 as well. 83 hans probably regained the lead, and was certainly one of the favourites for that final. But eric won the blrc that year, and you had to be quality to do that - id day they were the top two riders in the world. 84 the favourite was prob Shaun moran followed by hans then eric. a long winded way of me saying I think both were picked as potential future world champs, though I doubt anyone foresaw how dominant they woulf be, albeit helped by thelloss to the sport of penhall sigalos lee carter and the lifestyle choices of the morans. -
Yeah definitely you not being a twitter subscriber will be the reason the echo can't take down your post...

Allright, who has posted as middlo on twitter whingeing about the lack of a decision. I mean noone could be that thick...could they?

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.

wait til you see the new belle vue track which is designed to be exactly four hsndlebar widths wide... -
I can see how "as soon as a decision is made it will be announced" can be taken as referring specifically to the darcy case. I bet most times when they make a decision they have to do twenty starjumps, seven laps round the field and then wait for the next full moon before they can make the announcement.

that's hardly unusual, there would be plenty of brits living in nz and aussie that have to do the same in reverse.I always fly to the uk and europe on my british passport, anywhere else on my kiwi. -

lucky there are no wacko cults in the states that blow things isn't it! I bet waco, oklahoma etc. were all cunning jihadi plots -
top notch journalism that! Tbf you can see why some poole fans think darcy is hard done by when they read bollocks like thst in the local paper.

I agree with your point, but in 81 most would have stil rated hans and eric ahead of knudsen. But equally many would have tipped carter to be world champ before any of the danes. tatum I dont think was ever really considered a future world champ, and the same could be said of handberg, louis and arguably even king. but go back 5 years, who would have tipped tai to become world champ before emil and darcy. -

I may well be an idiot, but you sir have a defective irony detector. -
Tbf while this appears an ott reaction from horton, likeing a post in social media which criticises your employer is not a particularly smart move...
-
you are right. There was a thread on here where people indicated what odds they would offer . I somwhow mis-remembered this as being real bookmaker odds. My mistake! Still, shows that people other tham robert72 regard leicester as outsiders.

I find it staggering that anyone on here, or middlo/darcys twitter pages, can still be unaware of the 45 days.or of examples from other fim disciplines (e.g. james stewart) which show that the time frame in this instance is by no means unusual.

you can't say that. Everyone who said it wasn't going to be built in time said it because they hoped it would fail and couldn't wait to gloat. -
yep, that's why he had the 10 year break from cricket!
-
penhall had 4 years out of the sport, came back to ride in the peter collins farewell meeting and beat pc 3-0 in times only a couple of seconds slower thsn the times a world class field were doing.in a different sport, jeff wilson had 10 years away fom cricket, returned and played well enough to regain his place in the black caps. so darcy could no doubt do the same, so long as it wasnt four years spent boozing. but in reality he should be back racing later this year or worst case beginning of 2016.
-
not really, the bookies have them at the longest odds of any team...
-
I would say pk is by some margin the best signing - thr only rider likely to improve on their starting average

just to be clear, I've liked this post as I assume u are being ironic and taking the piss out of darcy's twitter followers
