Should be comfortable home win. Aces by 12+ -
By the time silver rode for Eastbourne I don't think he was still viewed as a future world champ?

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
waiheke1 replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The reason tai released the press release was because he was getting hammered via social media for not riding? Which is bizarre when there was no clash of meetings for him. Is this part of the reason Rosco was so pissed off? -
Leicester V Coventry 9th May 2015

So you'd be fine with say tai missing the British final to ride in a danish club meeting? -
And if bomber had ridden, Coventry would get no facility to cover him. Or they could have used a guest and bomber got a 28 day ban

Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad

You'd jeopordise a 200k job to participate in the 3rd round of a meaningless invitational event? -
Tbf to woffy team GB has only been entered in the final round - may have been different if they'd been in all 3? Whats the story with Nichols, surely he should have been picked for this with the hope of him becoming available for swc?

Wembley. Another of those temporary tracks you hate. You must have been delighted when world finals moved to a permanent track at odsal. -
Poole Pirates Vs Belle Vue Aces 29/4/15

Badly worded on my part, but clearly what I meant was why didn't worrall take one of Nielsen's rides (I.e. why give Nielsen 4 rides). Same issue v Swindon last night. -
Why did aces not use s worrall to replace Nielsen in his third ride?

Thats great news tmc, I'll definitely be buying simmo when releases on kindle. Thoroughly reccomend the Kenny carter book to anyone who hasn't read it.

Speedway World Cup Team Gb Squad

Tbh inclusion of both tai and Lambert is for both now and the future. To join them, both Harris and Nichols are miles ahead of anyone else - they are prob not "the future", but both could ride 5+ more years. Those 4 are a no brained if available. If Scott won't ride, there's not much between the others. Lawson is prob the inform rider so would likely go with him - he's not young, but is improving and again could ride 5-10 more seasons. Think its a couple of seasons too early for garritty, howarth etc. Tai Lambert and Harris likely to fill 3 spots on merit until bomber retires -
This has to be one of the most poorly written sentences I've ever encountered in an official document - looks like they got Sid to do the punctuation! Exceptionally this rule is amended in order to permit the calculation of MA’s to incorporate a slight system variation be issued for May only to be effective from 5th May 2015, Instead of being effective from 1st May, for Riders affected by the change. On first reading I thought the change meant that averages were effective only from 5th May rather than 1st (and that was the only change), but you are right in that it appears there is an undisclosed variation to the calculation method. It's also unclear in the subsequent paragraphs whther the calculation method revers to the original one for subsequent months, or just the fact that new averages will become effective on the 1st of each month (I assume it's the latter) I wonder what on earth the "slight system variation" is? The rule also says that it recerts from the next set of average, but does that mean the calculation method reverts to the original one, or purely that averages become effective on the 1st of the month?

What was the basis for GB spots? Trying to work out how Newman and worrall were picked ahead of say Lambert and cook? -
Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

But most of those tracks were utterly unsuitable to house GPS.if you are so against temp tracks where would you hold the British go if up to you? -
Or rosco could have followed up with the bspa to see why Pk wasn't showing as declared in the Swindon squad on their website. Either way good to see them win if only to stop Steve brums gloating. Remember last years "top of the table and staying there" rants?
-
If they didn't know an email had been sent how would they know to check. I presume after pks injury Swindon reverted to miedzinski, so unless bspa knew that this was the meeting Pk was available for to make his debut I can't see how they can be blamed. In this day and age its pretty rare for an email to "vanish" so I presume there was a stuff up somewhere rather than technological issue?

Western Springs is a car speedway track, but apparently that surface is totally unsuitable for bike speedway so it needed totally re-laying at a pretty huge cost (and then converting back afterwards) - one of the reasons Bill Buckley lost so much money! I think Western Springs definitely belongs in the "temporary trck" category, and produced good racing 2 out of 3 years, with the 2014 GP being excellent (2013 was very poor bar a couple of decent races). It;s a super venue, a shame that Auckland council seem intent on driving speedway out, I think 2017 will be the end of motorsport at the Springs, as the council seemingly aim to destryo both motorsport and Rugby League in Auckland. -
Mads for Porsing would pretty much assure KL a playoff spot. Would be very similar to Coventry with a stong top 4, stronger at second string with Lambert > Robson, though weaker at reserve,

Out of interest KL fans, if Rob Lambert said I'm fed up with the team underpefroming, I'm off to ride for Poole, would you support that decision. Or is loyalty only expected to work one way. I just remember Wolves fans calling for Tai to be dropped last year when he was struggling for form, yet this year fans are criticising him for turning his back on the EL. . -

But it’s not a few thousand less seats, in this case a 15000 seater would have been 40000 less seats. If you got rid of Cardiff you’d drop from 40000 to what – can’t imagine any British track holds more than 6000? There simply are not sufficient permanent tracks with large stadium capacity. You must have been delighted then when Wembley was lost to speedway, and instead the World Final’s could be held at a permaennt track at Odsal. Only around a 50k drop off in crowds too. OR maybe there is something about holding meetings in world class arenas, with huge crowds – perhaps why so many name the 81 World Final as their favourite meeting, despite the fact that the racing at Odsal in 90 was better? Using world class stadiums is the way to go, and temporary tracks have shown they can produce top racing . The issue at Warsaw wasn’t the track – it was the combination of track, allowing a full meetings worth of practice to be held on said track on the morning of the meeting, the tapes failure (and lack of backup) and inept officiating. If everything else had been ok, the meeting would have completed despite the track, and we’d have been talking about what a success the event was despite a somewhat dodgy surface. Weatherwatcher - where would you hold the British GP? What about the Australian one? Wheer would you have held the NZ GPs if not on a temporary track at western springs? -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
waiheke1 replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Sorry, but that’s simply not true. A handful of elite All Blacks (notably Dan Carter) have been allowed a season in Europe, and then been selected for the All Blacks upon completion of the sdabbatical. Others, such as SBW, Troy Flavel and Jerome Kaino, have had overseas stints and played their way back into the All Blacks upon their return to NZ domestic rugby. But no All Black has been selected in recent times while playing club rugby overseas. Notably, It’s why Carl Hayman wasn’t selected for the Abs after moving to France, despite being arguably the best prop in the world during that time, and why Nick Evans wasn’t called up to the All Blacks when Dan Carter got injured heading into the 2011 world cup, despite the Abs dearth of no 10s at that time. That said, to repeat, it would be ludicrous for GB not to pick Tai. TBh, I think they should be really trying to get Scotty Nicholls to come out of retirement, Tai, Nicholls and Bomber would be competitive as a top three with any nation on current form. With Aussie missing Ward, GB should be targetting a top 3 finish this year.
