  1. They pay the riders prize money, which from memory is under half that figure. And the rest is a mystery.
  2. Thstwould be the best way to go scb, though a simple weighting based on meetings ridden (hl,2nd srimg or rrseve) would be ok. Thing is people would complain that they didn't understand it.
  3. Yeah it probably should have been 30%, but a number of forum posters suggested this. It should have been done and tbh should apply for any mid season declarations, use of guests etc. Ford may have had his own interest in doing this, but tbf in this instance he is right
  4. I'm gonna send sid to sort him out.But seriously 20% of this thread is people complaining about the length of this thread (and responses to the complaints).
  5. And as a kiwi I' d be happy to be as "weak" as USA!
  6. But thus isn't a speedway thing, its an immigration thing.I do have a lot of sympathy for ty, and he should have no issue getting a top 4 state champ finish to qualify for a visa for next year.
  7. But given all work visa requirements are based on rolling averages why would u think this would be an exception to that rule? And surely if getting an exception you'd ask for confirmation in writing?
  8. Yeah but if you use RR and 6 riders get injured you won't be able to put out any riders.but if you use a guest you will. So I can see why they would want to use summers as a guest...
  9. My comment was on premise that janowski didn't get a higher average than ward and hence building to 34 needed.Would u really be able to recruit pawlicki now, if he knew he might be jettisoned in a month if team needed reshuflling to fit ward in? If ford wanted pawlicki he would have been in from start of season surely, as clearly he appeared a better option than watt or north.
  10. If you are planning to bring in Darcy you will be building to 34 points anyway, so if anything its beneficial for watts average to go down not up?
  11. TBF to SCB, most of them should ask his advice, at least on tactical or rule related matters: Well before the VISA issue for Aussie riders came to a head, he had pointed out that rules were being breached, wheras the clubs seemed amazed. SCB had pointed out the situation with Tyron Proctor, whereas the relevant team manager seemed amazed when his VIsA was turned down There are countless times where SCB has pointed out incorrectly applied averages, or rules - I think he has a far better understanding of these than any current team manager Almost every team in the league IS failing to make full use of their stronger reserve - statistics can back up that teams clearly should be using their stronger rider for an extra ride in the majority of occasions It's common sense that if R/R will give you a stronger rider in every (or 3 out of 4) heats,, that you should use this option rather than a guest. yet many teams have persisted with using a weak guest rather than a stronger R/R option. SCB will know the answer to that one
  12. Exactly. I've pulled out the stats on this. Inthe designated reserve heats, Worral scores 2.1pts per ride vs Nielseon's 0.9 pts (2.3 v 0.9 if you include bp) In the other scheduled reserve heats (i.e.the ones where they race 2nd strings, I am excluding heats where they replace a heat leader), Worrall averages 0.9pts v Nielsen's 0.6 (1.0 vs 0.7 with BP) So - Worrall is performing around 50% better than Nielsen in heats where he is elegible to take one of Nielsen's rides . That's the same proportionate difference as a 9 poiint rider vs a 6 point rider - if Kings Lynn could choose to use NKI to replae Porsing in one of his heats each meeting, how often would they do it - I'd imagine EVERY TIME unless the result was a foregone conclusion. I haven't checked, but I'd imagine most reserve combinations for other sides would be similar (Lakeside would be an exception) - some sliughtly less different, some slightly greater. But it's surely simply bad management from a results perspective not to use your better reservce five times a meeting, except where the result s a foregone conclusion, or the stronger rider is having an absolute mare/weaker rider having a bblinder. The Aces have used Worral for the extra ride in only 4 out of 9 meetings, and taht includes some clos emeetings where an extra point could have ended up being vital.
  13. tbf, you probaly are the side that has overperformed against expectations - the only thing I'd change form my pre-season predictions is that I'd swap you and Leicester from my original pick of 8th and 5th, to a revised pick of 5th and 8th (and Swap Coventry and Poole from 2nd and 1st to 1st and 2nd). Unbeaten at home (one of only 2 sides with that record) and with an away win thrown in is a pretty solid start.
  14. correct So given it's unliely Janowski will get his average above Ward, based on current greensheets they'd have to get rid of 3 from Janowski/Holder/North/Watt to make room for Darcy, though it is possible tha botht North and Watt could drop below 7 by end of June (unlikely Holder on current form, but who knows after a June spent back in a heatleader slot).
  15. Riders say stuff all the time and then change their minds. A start to the road to repairing relationships would have been to let him ride in the pairs meeting. GB doesn't have enough riders of international standard to not at leats make an effort to get Scott to reconsider Maybe they have, but comments around the pairs event dont indicate this..
  16. Tbf if we picked Nichols we would have a top 3 competitive with any nation, plus Lambert who has tonnes of potential. That side would capable of finishing on the podium on a good day against full strength opposition, and cert mainly this season with Aussie missing ward and doubts about whether Russia will be full strength.
  17. Oldace stated his view (which I agree with) that both sky and GPS had SLOWED the decline of British speedway. Why have go riders deserted British speedway? Its hardly due to GPS, where the earnings aren't great. Its because they can earn a lot more money in the Swedish and polish leagues. The UK's scattergun approach to scheduling doesn't help, but if the wages matched those in Poland riders would find a way to make it work
  18. In this case an injury would mean more rides for blackbird, who is better than howarth. As scb and bwitcher point out its a terrible decision
  19. Richie is averaging a point more than Steve in the pl and is a better option at kl imhoGarrity is an inexplicable omission
  20. It's not just a Wolves problem, lots of teams (including the Aces) are using inferior guests instead of RR. And then using both reserves for four heats, rather than the stronger reserve for five rides. (i can understand if the result is already determined, but not in tight matches) In the "real world" you wouldnt last long in a management role if you consistently made such poor decisions
  21. Nicholls clearly isn't going to be picked, and I'm pretty sure Schlein isn't elegible? So it's got to be Tai, Harris, Lambert and one other. I'd probably go Lawson for this round, but could equally go King/Barker/ or even Garritty/R worrall. Cook I think has a pretty horrible record at Kings Lynn, but would probably be my choice for the next round. So my ten would probably be: Tai, Harris, Lambert, Lawson, Cook, Barker, King, Garrity,Howarth, Newman. Realistically, I see no point in naming of a ten man squad, but if you're doing it you may as well name a couple of youngsters who won't get a meeting (e.g. Howarth and Newman). Well, Onesport should have updated the line up, but it might have impacted on the gate, and they have a track record of mis-leading the public You'd have though the BSPA/SCB would have made a atstement about a change in line up, but for some reason they didn't Tai should never have needed to be the one putting out the press release, but did so in the end due to a bunch of pathtic whingers, who continued to whinge even after he'd explained the situation. Good to see him go out and post a 15 point maximum as his response.
  22. 1,2,3 "WHOOSH!" Not your best post Sid
  23. Has it been confirmed that the riders refused to ride the remaining heats? or did they vote unanimously for it to be discontinued and the officials agreed the track was too dangerous?
  24. Trip has been delayed to October so its a moot point anyway
  25. But accurate. There was no way Harris would be released to ride in this. No other country had riders who had fixture clashes.
