Tampere Gp

Tbh an England gp would sell out at belle vue and doubt it would impact negatively on Cardiff attendance. Would surely be profit making for bsi and make moslre sense, commercially and speedway wise, than say Tampere or a second Swedish gp -

Tbf, laguta didn't enter the gp qualifiers, refused to ride swc and potentially(?) has visa issues. So I can understand why he was overlooked despite being worthy of a place on merit.Killer was unlucky, was a 50/50 call between him and mjj imho -
And not get anything in writing from the body whose opinion mattered?

Surely that's a permanent state for Starman?

Teamgb V. Great Britain?
waiheke1 replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
When did the team change from being called England to GB? I remember in the 80s it was "England" though confusingly they wore the union jack from 81 or 82 onwards? -
to paraphrase my favourite line, from the greatest TV series ever made (The Wire) "a less enlightened man than myself, a cruder man than myself, .. a man like that, not me, but a man like that, might just call you a C..."

Wolves V King's Lynn Monday 18th May
waiheke1 replied to Wolfsbane's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ok I've actually looked up all metting this season: I make it that out of 39 EL mathces, HL have been the main factor in determing the winner in 16 meetings, 2nd strings in 10.5 and reservces in 12.5 matches. So pretty even split, you'd expect HL to be the key factor in more than either of the other categories given that a) they generalyl have extra rides in ht 15 and there are 3 of them per team. Reserves the key factor in around 1/3 matches, but less often the deciiding factor than HL. -

Small sample size, but looking at wolves home matches this season reserves have been the main factor in determining victors in 2 matches and 2nd strings main factor in three matches. -

Belle Vue Aces -v Poole "cheats" Pirates
waiheke1 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think its fair enough for riders to ride in go then miss league speedway. In theory such a rule makes sense for domestic comps BUT the polish clubs would never agree to it. EL could still implement it but it would only work "one way" -
Think no one would have an issue if he had just ridden the gp. But riding Poland but not the UK is clearly taking the p

Refer above. If Sheffield got written exemption from ukvi from the visa criteria then its not their fault. The absence of an appeal indicates this is not the case. Therefore it seems the fault is Sheffield. Don't see how u can think differently,?

Looking for positives, the racing was better than last year,Harris was on the pace and tai is top of the standings - it's not all bad! -
But the relevant rules are all in the public domain. If proctor was granted - or believed he was granted - special exemption surely both he and Sheffield would make sure they got it in writing from ukvi.If they did I'm sure we would have heard by now as they would have grounds to appeal. If not then we don't need any additional information, or to have attended meetings, to know where the blame lies.
-
Surely the blame exclusively lies with Sheffield?

Tbf I'd expect garrity to score 4 from the hl position - would prob pick up a point against each of Lambert porsing wells and schlein? Still far weaker than using RR which I would expect to return at least half a dozen. -
El 2nd Strings - Average Reduction?
waiheke1 replied to SteveLyric2's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
A rider averaging 7 as a second string is performing worse than a heat leader averaging 6 so I see no issue with a system which would reflect that. -

And no one understands duckworth lewis but its by fat the best system cricket has had.Yes I'm amazed by the number of strange ideas people have about averages - no idea where the heat15 one came from but it was raised on the ty proctor thread again.
