I think it's premature to say tai will definitely dominate. Retaining a gp title has proved very very difficult for some great riders. Çertainly a good chance he will though, and barring injury will surely start next year as a short odds favourite.

Mauger always had better equipment than his rivals. Penhall Nielsen gundersen Lee always seemed to have bikes that were quicker than anyone else's. To be world champ you've always needed a combination of ability, mental toughness and good equipment - not much has changed.

As an example: how would u say Kenny Carter's luck in world championships evened out? Dave jessups? Tommy Knudsen's?

Luck is not cyclical nor does it even out. That is an utter myth.
