  1. Lambert rode a much lower % of meetings as hl than King?
  2. And a team which gets up to the limit purely by signing 5 riders with inflated averages will be totally uncompetitive You're aware of course that averages are calculated on the basis of 4 heats per rider? And that reserves are having their averages reduced byvspprox 40%?
  3. 4 hl and vaculik not interested? Otherwise a good team
  4. I presume Bridger is the 4th hl, with watt the only one not? And did say I didn't know bridgers average. The other 4 come in at about 28? I assumed Bridger was only about a 6 but must have been wide of the markEdit I see Bridger is 7.23. Almost unemployable on that
  5. Just over 6 but prob should be classed as a hl. So no pk? Freddie as number one again?
  6. if averages are the basis fir determining while is on the Hl list, then the concept of having a Hl list is idioted
  7. Pk without a doubt should be classed as a hl. Especially given Tgats king is now confirmed ss one. Ideally you need a number one, but if not Pk as a Hl and zengy as a 2nd string would st least be able improvement on this year.
  8. don't know what average bridger is on; but while a top 5 of kj batch bjerrr watt bridger maybe a supporters nightmare it would also be one ofvthe strongest in the league
  9. Grading is an awful idea imho. Marginal rider become superb signings or unemployable
  10. Lambert should not be. Bech probably should be but not clear cut.
  11. He rode as a hl in the play off final!?!
  12. absolute farce if that article is accurate . which probably means it is
  13. certainly more of a world cup than the old World Team Cup was in my view. the play off in same week as event leads to a tournament feel far more than the old qualifying system. I think the SWC in it's current guise is one of the improvements upon the "olden days"
  14. Pretty sure one place was guaranteed for the top placed Brit in the inter-continental final. 100% certain that one Swede was guaranteed for 84, one Piole for 86, one Dutchy for Netherlands 87 etc, so can't see why 1985 would have been any different. Of course in the 70s, there were normally at least 4 spots for the host nation. Edit: I assume you are talking world individual champtionship, which was the only world final at bradford in 85.
  15. you just make sure he is on minimal retainer, and decent points money then surely? that way if he tootles around the back, you're outlay is minimal. KK is capable of being the nest number one in the league, or the worst second string!
  16. it was only harder then due the ridiculous qualification system, which meant two of the weaker nations were guaranteed a spot in the final at the expense of stronger nations (in particular 1982, where there were only two places for England/USA/Denmark who were miles ahead of the opposition). If you look at the nations outside the current top 3, the likes of Aussie, England, Russia are far stronger than any of the "second tier" nations were in the 80s..
  17. So what you are saying is it hasn't been a proper World Cup since 1984? and I guess you never recognised the World PAirs championship or World Individual Championship, where the host nation always had seeding to the final? So, it's never been a proper world cup, apart from 1986 and 1987 when there was the ill fated WTC finals series?
  18. surely that depends who the remaining riders are?
  19. a tier 2 with a place average over 5 would come in over 3 as a ftr reserve.
