New Averages (team Line Up Changes Updates)
waiheke1 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
IircScb debated this and his view is that huckenbeck shouldn't be able to replace nbj at reserve. The official line seems to be that huckenbeck would ride in the 1-5 and rose would drop to reserve. I think. -

Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
waiheke1 replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Robert didn't say it would be a waste to have lambert at reserve? He said he was better than king and hence he would have him in the four, seemingly indicating he thinks he is worse than Harris cook and Nicholls. -

Explain again how Robert72 is correct and the squad is "far better" with Tai in it? -

Disagree entirely, bwitchers logic makes perfect sense. You want to pick the strongest team so you pick the best riders. If it comes down to a 50 50 call you take into account other factors. -
Rules Are Rules - But Spirit Lost Forever !
waiheke1 replied to markyb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I disagree. I think more by luck than good management it is shaping as an intriguing season. By end of the season most riders may have ridden most positions, so averages may end up bring a better reflection of ability than previous years. We've had upset results and some excellent racing, and a brand new stadium. Next year is much more of a concern than this year Imo, with concerns surely over coventry swindon and Leicester? -

He has a user name giving his name and year of birth. His support for every argument he makes, on a public forum, is that he once rode speedway. You don't think it's reasonable that people use publicly available information to work out who he is? -

And of course there would have then been the option of waiting til woryna had a spell at reserve then replacing with a bjerre type rider. Not that bees would strengthen so sensibly of course! -

Agreed. The rob homer who posts on here was born in 1972. The one the other poster saw was born in 1947ish. -

There were two rob homers, hence why I needed to specify the year of birth. The one you saw each was born in 47 I think. -

I think that would depend on who they had signed in the top 5 as the extra second string. ..but for sure they would be a lot stronger. And fact is garritty would have got to spend plenty of time in the top 5 anyway. -
Why would it matter if it was the last few matches of the season they spent at reserve - rolling average is based on 20 meetings. The same problem has been in place the last two seasons since this heat format was introduced.
-
But Chapman surely was in the room when all these decisions were voted through?
-
And the thing is, at least 50% of people on here are moaning that Poole get an advantage under the current system. It's no wonder Poole do well, Ford is one of the few (only?) promoters to understand the impact of different rules.
-
Ellis is not comparable to pk as ellis' rolling average started only this season I.E. edr riders do not have a genuine rolling average.Pks average is based on last 20 matches. So his average will be far less elastic than the edr riders. If ellis spends half the season at reserve, and a quarter each at hl and 2nd string, his average will end up around 6 Imo (he will average about8 as reserve, 3 as hl 5 as 2nd sting imo).
-
It was ridiculous that converted Pl averages were used, and yes Poole benefitted. But Poole Imo gain less from having a holder or Pedersen at reserve than a team with weak reserves benefits. It's questionable Imo whether holder atcreserve strengthenso Poole compared to Newman being in that position. Either way, by the time we get to the playoffs I think most riders will gave had time in each slot and averages should actually bear some reflection of ability.

Pretty sure it was established he is Robert homer (the 1972 version). Record viewable on the proboards site -
I think people overstate the impact, you can't just look at what the reserve scored but what the edr in the top 5 scored as well, and then compare to what you would expect them to have scored if riding positions were reversed. To me the current system favors sides with weak reserves, sides like Poole probably benefit the least (and hence would benefit most from edr having to stay at reserve). End of the day the issue is that once they decided edr could be promoted (and I think that is a good thing), they should have gone back to a conventional format.

British Final Belle Vue June 13th.
waiheke1 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes those are sky bet odds and agree they are the reverse of what you'd expect. I posted earlier I didn't see value outside of the favorites, but on a big track stead may be worth a punt at those odds. -
Wolves V Coventry Mon 6th June 2016
waiheke1 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Predictable? Been plenty of surprise results.Rules bendable? The only rule bending I can think of this year is tungate gate. Edl farce? Agree the heat format should have changed. But the progress of riders like garritty worrall and Ellis surely suggests it's working. From all accounts racing this season gas been excellent and some close meetings. The biggest farce this season was the hl list, I'll agree with that being terribly executed. -

waiheke1 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The issue is that when the scheme started there weren't enough brits u21 of a suitable standard, and you would struggle even now to get 16 riders u23 of the right quality. -
If batch hits from then Kl have a top four as good as anyone. TheIt real issue is reserve and there is no easy solution there. Coventry could upgrade woryna and have a very competitive side, but chances are they won't make the needed change, and it's apparent what a bad move it was not to start garritty at reserve. Poole still very strong favorites Imo, ahead of aces. Without changes, don't see any other side as potential champs. Wolves will make play offs bit not strong enough to win it. Fourth play up spot very much up for grabs.
