Fair enough. Sounds like it's worth me ordering the dvd. Real shame It's not a viable commute to home meetings as track sounds incredible... -

British Final Belle Vue June 13th.

Anyone know if this will be streamed for those of us not in the UK? -
Tbh that's pretty standard for a modern stadium I would have thought? Most events you can't move freely between stands.

Sgp Predicted Finish Places
waiheke1 replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Obviously initial picks are initial picks, hence I didn't change my original post. Was more an update on where I saw things with a quarter of the series gone. The Danes the big disappointments so far. -
Sgp Predicted Finish Places

After 4 rounds I'd revise my list to: 1 tai 2 greg 3 holder 4 magic 5 zmarzlick 6 Pedersen 7 zagar 8 puk 9 Doyle 10 lindback 11 killer 12 pawlicki 13 aj 14 Lindgren 15 hampel 16 harris You also predicted Harris yo be knocking on the door of top 8!Lindback on last year's form was a good shout for top 8 and gas started well (as he did a few seasons back, recall he was impressive in the first nz gp). Will the possible police charges impact on his season though? -
Hans was best rider in the world 83-89, but Eric had the ability to raise his game for the big meetings. He would have done the same under the gp system and while I doubt he would have won 3 titles I'm sure he would have won at least one. The early90s is where it gets interesting, could hans have retained his dominance in that format or would the likes of Jan o jonsson and ermolenko still won titles?
-
Yes. No. Yes. I just don't see where Olsens extra titles would have come from. In the 70s you have possibly 2 extra titles up for grabs (Michanek and sckaziels) with mauger, Olsen and in later years Lee and Collins competing for them. I think Lee would have won in 79 and Collins in 77, meaning for Olsen to win more mauger would have won less.

30 years ago pretty much the only option to make a living was to race in Britain. That's not the case now though. How much is tai being a wolves asset worth if he has no interest in riding in Britain? That would seem right, though I'm surprised they even had to itemize the fixed assets. You'd have hoped they'd have had some cash listed as an asset too! -

you would take into account contracts when looking at income projections and cashflow.. contracts which assure revenue, and contractual expenditure commitments. Most contracts of course aren't included on the business balance sheet, as you would/should know? I'd find it very hard to see a legitimate justification for including a rider's contract on the balance sheet, and even less for seeing it as a positive when assessing lending. -

I do financial review of around 1.5 billion euros of projects a year. If one of our structured finance team tried to tell me a customer had a solid balance sheet on the basis of treating as "assets" a contracts with self employed individual who were not exclusively bound to work for that entity, had no legally enforceable break clauses and the contracts has "minimal" liquid value - I would politely suggest that their manager finds someone else to do reviews for me in the future. -
New Averages (team Line Up Changes Updates)

The phrase 1-5 rider should simply be defined in the rule book. Tbh if they meant a non edr they should have just said "any non edr". If they meant 1-5 by riding order they should have said in the 1-5 position based on current Greenstreet averages. -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
waiheke1 replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The big belle Vue track would suit tai better than monmore, his bikes are far quicker than any other gb rider so the big open spaces would suit him perfectly. The training schools I assume would happen at the end of the season not during? -

Even if it was a five year contract, I doubt any bank manager would include it as an asset. Would the contract stand up in a law court - doubt it. If the rider chose not to ride for the club but in Poland instead could the club stop him - no way. Is there an active market in which the club could reasonably expect to recoup their outlay - not really. Look at how many "assets" Poole have that are not racing in the UK. Would anyone really say those assets have a tangible value. -

I can't imagine any bank manager would take any value for rider assets into account -
That comparison doesn't really work though does it. A footballer can break someone's leg and get a 3 week ban, but allegedly make a racist comment and be banned for months. A footballer can be fined 100k for swearing but someone get a fine for committing an assAult 10p times less.As for it being his own stadium. You think the Glazers could walk onto the pitch at old Trafford during a match, or the referees dressing room before a game, and escape a fine? If you enter a competition you sign up to a set of rules, and if you break them you are subject to the disciplinary procedures you signed up to. That's not to say the fine here is necessarily fare, the full details aren't in the public domain, but your arguments are flawed

I thought that's what I said u said. At least it's what I meant to say you said! Seriously how hard is it to phrase rules correctly. If the interpretation they are adopting is what they wanted, why not state that in the rules. And tbh why not allow a number 8 to ride at reserve? -

It makes no sense to run a business in an unprofitable manner simply for tax reasons. I don't let understand why people suggest this. You are better off making a profit and paying tax than losing money and having a tax credit. I doubt there are too many ways you can artificially transfer costs from other businesses into the speedway venture to gain a material tax advantage.
