  1. There was an episode of new tricks a few years ago which featured a family with the double barreled named Linden-Warner. Linden Warner being the name of an ex- Birmingham rider from the 1980's ( And 2007 Malaysian speedway champion who know?) I wondered at the time if this was a reference to him. As I believe the writer is from the midlands area and tried to add local reference to the names of characters. In fact the main three ex policemen in the show are Halford, Lane, Standing a reference to West Bromwich Albion’s ground. Maybe the writer tried to sneak in a speedway reference with that family name. Obscure I know.
  2. What my car off the one stop car park, dirty thieving Stoke/ Manc wannabe’s . Come down here looking for a job, then realize they haven’t the skills so nick my car to get back up north, we all know how it works. (just a bit of friendly banter)
  3. Don't worry, I see Mark as British I was in mischief’s mood early.
  4. Jason Crump is though, being the only British born world speedway champion of the last 15 years.
  5. ^^^^ ^^^^ I think in the first instant they where right to grab the guy and take him away but maybe after assessing the situation he should have been given a good talking to and allowed to return to his seat.
  6. Damn annoyed I couldn't be there, but got to watch it on sky. A lot a people on the back straight personally I always felt a little detached from the event there, but as a speedway fan you still have a great view there. And harping back to Wembley remember if this had at been at Wembley with the weather we’ve had it mightn’t have gone ahead because of the half ass’d roof they stuck on there 800 million stadium.
  7. Fantastic night so pleased for Chris I remember watching him back in 1998 at St Austell and clearly saying “some day that kids going to win the British GP at the millennium stadium on the 30th of June 2007 with an over take on the last corner” but try telling that to people today and they don’t believe you. Only disappointment was that foul mouthed Mr Hancock blasted Americans coming over here with there bad language, next they’ll bring over that damned Rock ‘N’ Roll music and pinball just you wait and see.
  8. Well I stand corrected, I’m surprised though what happens if the pitch gets damaged and a footballer stabs his toe on a divot or trips and sprains his ankle, I mean the consequences are to horrific to contemplate.
  9. I very much doubt The FA would let anyone touch there precious pitch let a loan stick a speedway track on top of it. Anyway give me Cardiff over Wembley any time. Don’t believe the hype about Wembley it’s a nice stadium with adequate facilitates inside but its no where near the best in the world. In fact I’ve been in better stadiums that where built 5 years ago. By the way I was supporting the winning team and still wasn’t overly impressed; god only knows what kind of a desolate place it must be if you lose, as it might as well be on the moon as there is nothing around the place for miles. The great thing about Cardiff you know it’s on because they a have roof that closes fully (unlike Wembley) and with in walking distances are all the bars cafes and restaurants. Having said that I’m missing this year due to just moving house.
  10. I'm Sure 3 meetings where staged at the wheels in 1984, couple of challenge matches and an under 21 meeting. The racing track was superb, just a pity that the surrounding area was a dump and the stadium facilities were rubbish (well when compared to what we where use to at Perry Barr). I seem to remember that the wheels project was built as a community venture to help give locals a place to race go-karts, learn riding skills, ect. So if it is to closedown surely some pressure should be put on the council to replace this facility, could be a opportunity to get another track built somewhere else in the city. Maybe near the airport plenty of land available out there, after all they planned to build the 80,000 new national stadium there. So a few thousand speedway/stockcar fans shouldn’t cause a problem and as for the noise, well its next to a airport!.
  11. Porn I'll have to go though my collection and see if i can spot him
