There was an episode of new tricks a few years ago which featured a family with the double barreled named Linden-Warner. Linden Warner being the name of an ex- Birmingham rider from the 1980's ( And 2007 Malaysian speedway champion who know?) I wondered at the time if this was a reference to him.
As I believe the writer is from the midlands area and tried to add local reference to the names of characters. In fact the main three ex policemen in the show are Halford, Lane, Standing a reference to West Bromwich Albion’s ground. Maybe the writer tried to sneak in a speedway reference with that family name.
Obscure I know.
What my car off the one stop car park, dirty thieving Stoke/ Manc wannabe’s . Come down here looking for a job, then realize they haven’t the skills so nick my car to get back up north, we all know how it works.
(just a bit of friendly banter)
Well done to Jason Lyons a former Belle Vue rider and to Joe Screen current Belle Vue rider, only right that two riders with MANCHESTER connections should do well in the second city trophy.
Arlo Bugeja was programmed to ride for Birmingham at Workington on Saturday but was replaced by Scott James? Showing my and other Brummies fans ignorance I’m afraid, but no one had heard of him however he didn’t look too far of the pace who ever he is?
The news is on the Brummies site but for some reason hidden away in rained off Kings Lynn preview (Brummies depleted for trophy trip). Maybe the club are keeping a little quiet until Emiliano is well on the way to recovery, which hopefully won’t be to long away.
Great to hear that there was a good turn out at Sheffield last night.
^^^^ ^^^^
I think in the first instant they where right to grab the guy and take him away but maybe after assessing the situation he should have been given a good talking to and allowed to return to his seat.
Damn annoyed I couldn't be there, but got to watch it on sky. A lot a people on the back straight personally I always felt a little detached from the event there, but as a speedway fan you still have a great view there. And harping back to Wembley remember if this had at been at Wembley with the weather we’ve had it mightn’t have gone ahead because of the half ass’d roof they stuck on there 800 million stadium.
Fantastic night so pleased for Chris I remember watching him back in 1998 at St Austell and clearly saying “some day that kids going to win the British GP at the millennium stadium on the 30th of June 2007 with an over take on the last corner” but try telling that to people today and they don’t believe you.
Only disappointment was that foul mouthed Mr Hancock blasted Americans coming over here with there bad language, next they’ll bring over that damned Rock ‘N’ Roll music and pinball just you wait and see.
Well I stand corrected, I’m surprised though what happens if the pitch gets damaged and a footballer stabs his toe on a divot or trips and sprains his ankle, I mean the consequences are to horrific to contemplate.
