  1. A FULL EXPANATION FOR THE ABSENSE OF 1000cc SIDECARS AT CP By someone who knows...... After a very brief conversation earlier in the year with Len with regard to their appearance it was decided to discuss the idea later as the season unfolded. As promised ( I must admit much to my surprise) Len approached me midway through the season and asked if I could us my contacts to put a programme together. As some of you know being an avid supporter (and driver of chairs) it was a case of Thunderbirds are Go. Now bear in mind that was 9pm of a Monday night meeting. I should add at about 9.15 the same night a conversation with Roger confirmed the proposal. So, with the tapes up off I rode. By approx. 5pm n the Tuesday, 4 teams had been confirmed (all licensed), 4 outfits (all correctly silenced,TRC eligable). SCB approval granted. Insurance covered. Press officer informed, programme editor informed, commercial manager informed, track photographer informed. All of which did their bit to get it in the programme for the following week. So what went wrong? Neither Len nor Roger had realised that when tapes go up in sidecar racing things move that fast and to be fair to them both none of us had the opportunity to discuss the exercise in depth. When we did the following was discussed. The planning was not technically a problem because it did not breach SPEEDWAY racing albeit on sidecars. The silencing again not technically a problem all outfits use TRC approved silencers. Simply it was logistical. We all know there is a strict 8.30 curfew but some may not know there is (under planning) only 15 races + 2 allowed. Now you can all see where this is leading. Yes there was slight concern over the additional noise which was to have been overcome by only running 2 outfits as a demo, things were still techy with our friend in the village. The main problem was jeopardising heat numbers that maybe needed for the solos. So with the expense for the teams to attend and their wish not to rock the boat for CP in the 1st year and the possibility of not riding a gentleman's agreement was made to cancel their appearance. BUT, the big chairs are still keen so, get on the managements case and get them to contact me in 2014.
  2. Abso;ut;y correct Nikko. The fans now attending are becoming real supporters, the ones that stick with their team win or lose. They're not gonna let politics, whingers even bad weather upset their Monday night fix. Many realise the extreme amount of work thats passed in getting this off the ground and I'm sure will remain loyal to Kent speedway. The cheer at the 5=1 in heat 15 could be heard above the noise in the pits and long may it continue. Well done the supporters.
  3. ****Stop press**** It is rumored that after secret talks at a track meeting, that the legendry unbeaten Tony 'two laps' may threaten the captains spot at the Kings. After turning down 2 elite league offers and a GP wild card Tony refuses to comment. He maintained that returning from retirement is unlikely but that he may be avaliable as expert adviser to the youngsters. Although maintaining intense training at McDonalds and Burger King over the winter, its unlikely he'll risk his other passion, flashing. Meanwhile 'Two Laps' fans wait with baited breathe.
  4. Being a shade over the 31, doubt if he'll be in a Hawks jacket any time soon...........or will he?
  5. Just a quick question. Has Thommo really been practising?
