Rye House V Ipswich 6th October
aljack replied to crazysue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Another poor performance from the Witches beggars belief when nearly all of them are riding for their places next season!!! Only one after this shabby performance can hold his head up high and thats Dak, get him signed up CL pronto for next season -
Feel so sorry for you Byron and Dudley fans I see yesterdays crash and it looked horrendous one of the worst Ive seen and Ive seen a few! It totally spoiled the meeting as a spectacle and was just a procession of Mildenhall winners thereafter

Mildenhall V Dudley - Ko Cup Final 1st Leg - Sunday 7th October
aljack replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Shame this meeting was totally spoiled by a very nasty looking crash and injury to Bekker, I do hope he is not injured as much as first feared. His injury seemed instantly to take the guts out of the Dudley side especially him being their captain and I suppose being a load of young riders thats understandable. So thereafter it became almost a procession of Mildenhall winners and many 5 - 1s and running out easy easy winners by 28 points. The 2nd leg now should be a total formality. No wonder speedway is struggling to survive when fans have to pay £12 to watch 3rd tier speedway and then also have to buy an over priced programme. Thank god the fish and chips are still brill and sensibly priced at £5.50 and at least we enjoyed those -

Think that may have been a little tongue in cheek -

Could not agree more who cares who win these meetings they are totally meaningless and just an excuse to fill dates for the losers in the league Well I do not think the riders are very interested in these meaningless meetings along with most fans -
No I know the crowds dropped alarmingly at the end of our last elite league experience but that was due to a pathetic weak team riding every week for the Witches! Put together a competitive team in the elite then the crowds will roll back as they always do at Ipswich but whatever the team put together by CL in the premier will make no difference. Theres just no interest in watching inferior riders week in week out at foxhall when the top stars can be seen on sky regular at no cost.

I never said I wouldn't just said it looks like he will get discarded next season as someone has to, to make way for our genuine no1. There's talk of CL also signing Lanham, Matt, Heeps and Nielsen next season and surely Dak and Rohan are certainties so that only leaves club asset Morten and poor Taylor do it not to get discarded?
-
A good all-round performance from the Witches apart from Taylor who sadly seems to have lost it at the moment and looks destined to be discarded next season. As has been said the 2nd bend looks to have problems for alot of riders and needs sorting out as riders could get injured and god knows there's been enough of those this season. One very worrying aspect of last nights meeting for CL must be the very poor gate, this was the Witches most important meeting of the season and there looked to be no more than a few hundred there! So CLs talk of going back into the elite league in the future better come sooner rather than later otherwise the fan base will have nearly disappeared

Could be a very entertaining meeting and also hopefully exciting too. With the season fast drawing to a close riders will be riding for their places next season and that should add an edge to proceedings also. Witches against Sheffield last week looked a more compact team and all pulled together with even Lanham looking like almost a no1. Tungate has seemed to have lost his edge perhaps he is longing for the sun and beaches in oz. Taylor looked more on the pace and is gradually getting his confidence and mixing it into the first bend. Morten is certainly looking more like the rider we first thought he was when he signed. Dak is Dak and always gives 100% and can usually be relied on to score alot of points. Tress at reserve should always score well but has often had off meetings. Nielsen (think he is riding? Im sure someone will tell me if not) at reserve looks a fine prospect and I expect CL to do a deal with Scunthorpe so his services are available next season and who knows could even become at asset. So there you go thats my summerizing of the Witches team at this point of the season and good luck to all the riders taking part and please all stay safe and lets hope for a substantial lead to go into the second leg.

Workington V Ipswich Sunday 30th Sep
aljack replied to scaramanga's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It must be a pain in the bum being a Workington fan they seem to have more meeting postponed than run, the weather there must be awful. 8 meetings in October seems impossible unless all double headers and that is if it do not rain on Sundays - some hope -
Is Speedway Too Expensive Now ?
aljack replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But surely speedway basically is a summer sport with hopefully good weather for May,June,July,August and September. Thats 5 months when we should not get cold evenings and more or less 5 out of 7 months when speedway is held. And to rush through meetings in 75 - 90 minutes with only 15 races and then sent home is not good enough in my book. -
Is Speedway Too Expensive Now ?
aljack replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Compared to other sport (football, tennis etc) speedway is fairly cheap in price to watch. So I dont think its the money that is putting people off going. Take last night at Ipswich foxhall stadium, the meeting was rushed through at a great rate due to the poor weather and when the weather had improved at just after 9pm what happens? The riders come round to celebrate their win then NOTHING!!! Go on you fans just s*d off weve had your money so now go home as they are taking the fence down thats it!!! In my opinion speedway fans are treated abysmally and I feel many attend just once and never go again and no wonder when paying £15.50 for just over an hours entertainment. I remember when there used to be a champion of the evening with all the riders taking part and a big final at the end of season with all the top 16 riders taking part with a cup. Now NOTHING!!! -
He has already said he wants to ride for the Witches next season, so thats him and Heeps at reserve now for the other 5. Louis has at long last agreed with me and seen sense and has written that he wants a genuine no1 next season - hooray
-
Correct!!! Witches could be winners of the best bottom half of the league team!!! Who cares???
-
Oh dear sorry ma'am
-
As Ive said elsewhere its a meaningless meeting for 2 teams that are not good enough to make the top 6. Should be half price entrance fee but we know thats NEVER going to happen so will be lucky to get 500 paying fans tonight. Well thats no surprise is it?
-
No worries it does not worry me a toss what so called fans say its all water of a ducks (quack) back as far as Im concerned
-
IF you were at the pre-season get-togethers you would not have to ask that question!!! Those who were there will know so no need to answer.
-
Well that was certainly a tongue in cheek comment if ever Ive read one choice good one Reply to Mr Snackette - Yes agree better have speedway than none but what about the promises made by the management team when we dropped down a league they have not been kept.
-
Yes Rye House YET again so much for those empty comments of not seeing the same teams!!! Whats changed now the Witches have dropped into the inferior premier league? Only the substandard riders we now watch!!! Yes but these were not the promises us fans were made when dropping into the inferior premier league, were they Please tell me are you related to Chris Louis all this idolization is getting very sickening! I would think John Berry up there with the angels would be proud his name is still linked with the Witches!
-
Well its good to have fixture fillers like the forthcoming PLCT meetings but honestly they are meaningless nothing meetings for the teams who were simply not good enough to make the top 6. It make you wonder where the premier league is going when these meetings have to be arranged to fill the season? Chris Louis when dropping a league said now we will have more meetings to watch but when they are worthless meetings like these, it does not mean much does it? Personally I think the demise of the Witches in the last 2 years is very very sad indeed and poor John Berry must be squirming in his grave, RIP John.

Berwick V Ipswich Pl Saturday Sept 15th 7-00pm
aljack replied to Normski's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No its not all doom and gloom as the most positive thing about Ipswich speedway is that there is speedway....many do not have it do they.
