Somerset Vs Ipswich Pl 5/4/13 7:30
aljack replied to RebelRebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well another night when the Witches were made to looked second rate by their opponents in another hammering by 57 -37. Makinen is already looking a total liability with ONE point out of 30 and add to that Ellis total lack of experience this is already looking a pretty weak Witches team as Barker is looking anything but an out and out no1. Risager admitting he is using last seasons knackered engines. Will CL make changes ? well will we see flying pigs? -

True its good to try and be positive baldyman but we must be realistic here, this is a racers track so who do it suit most? Certainly not Risager and I would guess at Makinen, so that leaves us very vulnerable in the middle order. To make up for those two it should suit very nicely Ben, Adam, Cam and Rohan, so that leaves Lanham who's fitness looks suspect to last the pace around this racers track. As I said previously if Makinen rides I think the Witches have no chance but with R/R who knows there could be an upset. -

On the evidence of what we see at freezing foxhall Friday, I can only see a Rye House win Im afraid. Its not being pessimistic but just being a realist as the Witches looked weak in the middle order with Makinen and Risager scoring only 5 points between them. Ive been saying all pre-season that these were the Witches most vulnerable positions in the team. -

Im so pleased you think my assessment was fair can you prove your second point regarding Risager??? Otherwise I think my assessment of him is perfectly justified. -

Its took me till now to get thawed out that must have been the coldest speedway meeting Ive been to, so here now are my comments on the meeting. On a very slick track passing was almost impossible so gating was paramount with gate 4 a "dead duck" without a single win. Suppose its understandable that Bob would have problems getting the track fit for racing but surely more dirt could have been added Friday morning. Barker was simply brilliant with some wonderful team riding and its great to see that reappear after several years with none. Having a genuine no1 at last won us the meeting without a doubt. Makinen was awful and exactly what most of us expected, cl see's something in him but its difficult to see what so lets hope he improves a massive amount. Tungate looked on par with last season, so lets hope for an improvement there but did ok. Risager looked extremely poor pootling around the white line as always and slow but we know why he holds down a team place which in my opinion he is not worthy of. Rival Ben for no1 spot cl, lol Lanham although looking slow still scored well and looked much happier at no5 and lets hope he up's his low average this season. Ellis started off magnificently with a great win in a fast time but then after had outside gates and failed to get to grips of the slick conditions but still looked a great prospect. Heeps was without doubt Witches kingpin and was used by Pete very expertly in extra races (no fault of his he ended one with an ef) and rode very well indeed. All in all a hard fought win but not a good performance at all and any stronger opposition would have seen Witches defeated. Big improvements will have to be made if anything is to be achieved at Rye and at home to a strong looking Plymouth side. -

Anyone living near foxhall who can tell us what the weather is like there now, its clouded up a great deal where I live -

With no challenge meeting before this opener against Rye its not easy to predict what will happen as riders get their bikes set up to adapt to track conditions on an afternoon meeting. The weather will be a huge factor as the forecast is not good for Easter but having said that in my opinion Rye are not one of the strongest teams and anything less than 3 points for the Witches will be a huge disappointment. -
Think you have overlooked the fact that Joe signed for Glasgow a few weeks ago so he is well signed up being he is riding for Coventry in the NL as well.
-
Cheap option.....means in this case Lanham lives very local so requires no travelling expenses when riding at home whereas if Craig Cook was signed he would need a huge amount of travelling expenses to come from his far Northern home. Hope Ive made it clear now...... I need no defending by you or anyone else as I say it as it is and pull no punches and do not live in a holier than thou world like so many, so its up to the beholder if he agrees or not. As far as Im concerned I do not care a toss if he does or not ok.....
-
Tell me what do you base your "imagine" on ??? Lanham is nearing 36 or is and his best years are behind him if that is he had any and he goes to cls for chats and tea and biscuits. So as he lived on cls door step he was an obvious cheap option and having a good deal was secondary in any dealings I would guess, more like how many cups of tea and bourbons.
-
Didn't you know its been said on this forum cl is one of the big spenders in the premier league , so if thats the case lanhams point money will be no problem at all but can't imagine he will get good point money anyway.
-
Lanham lives a few yards from louis front door and the foxhall track, so yes cheap no travelling costs involved and Risager is dating louis daughter, say no more!!!
-
Well IF??? like we are led to believe cl is one of the big spenders in the premier league (cough!!! splutter!!!) then signing young Cook and paying his travelling expenses should have been no problem. But obviously with cls forecast of Risager is going to overtake Barker in the aveages and might well become no1 who needs Cook. Now lets get back to the real world and not the fantasy world of cl and its realised cl only goes for the cheapest options and thats Risager and Lanham who live only a stone throw away from the stadium and in the case of one probably a new louis family member soon.
-
Pity Chris Louis did not seem fit to sign Craig Cook at Ipswich on a snip of an average of 8.50 to ride along Ben as 2 powerful heatleaders. Add Lanham, Tungate and Ellis and it still left 7.70 for the other 2 so could have included Heeps on a 4.40 together with a 3.30 rider. What a team that would have been but we have Risager and Makinen
-
Thats very true but whats happened to the rider you were gloating about who was going to sign for you Rohan Tungate ??? Oh yes he has signed for the Witches again :icon_smile_clown:
-
Ha ha ha you must be joking mate (Expensive team) a lot of the riders live within a few yards of the track
-
Oh dear well that wait was worth it - not What happened to the Rohan Tungate had signed for comets brigade then

Adam Ellis To Which Pl Club ?
aljack replied to EC Rides Again's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well he is riding for the Witches next season and we are very happy to have such a young talent riding for us. Obviously loads of clubs wanted him but as he lives in France he spoke to our Matt and he said what a great club Ipswich is and that was that ho-say -
Good luck to all Edinburgh fans on surviving this crisis.

Mildenhall V Stoke 31-10-12 Nat Trophy
aljack replied to Super Blue's topic in National League Speedway
The Stoke team looks extremely weak and this meeting looks a forgone conclusion which is a real shame when they could have had their pick of a guest. This smells of he will do as theirs nothing resting on this meeting and end of season blues. -
Congratulations Mildenhall - National League Champions

Well done Mildenhall great achievement to go with a brilliant team stadium and management team and the best fish'n'chips ever -
Well done Newcastle your team always looked hungry for success in the 2 leg final and were by miles the better team. Its become an embarrassment being a Witches fan this dreadful season with so little passion and effort from all 7 riders being shown on numerous occasions. I often wonder whats happened to our once great club its a total shadow of the great 1970s, 1980s and 1990s with it seems a total lacklustre attitude from the management towards success or the fans.
