The Long Eaton Stadium Site - 2015
mrlincolncity replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I have fond memories of Long Eaton, not just speedway but the stock cars as well. Standing on what youd call bend 2 for the speedway but for the stock cars as a kid, playing in the bit of sand where the dog racing traps were kept, always remember the power stations red lights over the back of the main stand. Attended the stock cars regularly in the early 80s, and a bit of speedway if boston were in town. Remember Dave Perks, and of course Dave Blackburn who also did a season or 2 at Boston. Was decent racing as well from what i remember, but then again it was ALL decent racing back then! I used to drive past the back of the stadium to the local asda in my lorry to deliver 4/5 years ago, was still a derelict site then. Took em long enough didnt it! Another track gone forever. Sad times I have fond memories of Long Eaton, not just speedway but the stock cars as well. Leicester V Coventry Sat 4th April

It shouldnt be like that, its crazy, its the only sport i know where the participants have a bigger say than the ref! Its a track, if the ref decides its off its off, if its on its on, those who refuse cos its not to their liking are banned or fined, its bloody ridiculous! It gets a grade every 4 races unless the REFEREE decides -

Yea, they are all stuck in the past i think, it needs new people in to shake it up. Surely they realise people are not happy watching nothing for more than 2 hours??? Its crazy! Its such madness to think 2n half hours to run an event of 16 minutes essentially is NOT acceptable at any level! Not even for free! If it was me id want it rolling, 7.30 is start time, that to me means at 7.30 we have the 2 minute siren on, on the dot. By 7.50 wev had 4 races. 8.15 wev had 8 by 8.50 wev had 12 AND an interval. 9.15 we are done and thats very generous with times. Thats how it needs to be. Hanging it out is what i call at work "takin the p**s" -

Yep wont argue with that, or lynn, sheffield, scunny is pretty good as well. Such a pity for me at leicester cos im not far in lincoln, and i quite like the friendly set up theyv got, but i just cant watch that load of donkey do if thats what its like every week! Im hoping, and i am i think, that it was due to bad weather and they took all the dirt off to save the meeting?? Please someone tell me thats what happened and its actually a lot better than tonight -

Hey dont get me wrong, im neutral on this, im kings lynn, i go to any speedway if its available to me to go, coventry deserved it for sure, pedersen is terrible and wont last riding like tonight! Decent crowd, decent stadium but the track was rubbish! Get some dirt on it! Break it up a bit for god sake cos if anyone thinks that was nearly good tonight you know nothing about decent speedway -

Awful speedway from start to finish, its all true what iv read, its one of if not THE worst track in the country! no chance whatsoever of a decent race due to the poor preparation and tight turns. It was rubbish tonight, first time iv been in over 2 seasons, and il not be rushing back to see who can get to the bend first, oh and just to put it straight, I was on the start of the 1st bend, Andersen clearly forced and knocked Doyle off, left him no room at all, typical of Andersen though. -

Going back to the time issue and then having an interval. This is where the sport falls apart imo, its not good enough having a 15 heat meeting take 2 2 n half hours. 90 minutes should be enough, even with 1 or 2 incidents. Too slow inbetween races, cant help but think more would go if it progressed quicker. The big crash last night, in fairness didnt take long to get sorted out, nor did the change of the section of air bag to be switched. Just generally inbetween each race is far too long winded. The race finishes, we have the result and timed announced, and then the 2 minute siren should be on, 4 heat blocks should be done in 10/15 minutes. -

Oh i always did, and last night was, cold, but very enjoyable! Everytime i go i still cant believe how much its changed since i first started going in the early 80s. I got thinking last night, could "saddlebow road" as i know it, be the most improved speedway stadium in the country? Cant disagree with any of that. Shame really, was slick, one line, and if i recall, 1 pass, iversen at the end. Still enjoyed it though, first meeting on a personal note since the british semi at sheffield last season! (Work reasons mainly) Forgot how much i love speedway, i wont leave it as long for my next one -
Yea he likes that tbf! Iv not mentioned the DU rule though
-
I told my "new to speedway" mate about this start rule, hes only been 4/5 times, and after i said the new start procedure is to cut down on riders digging about, and i said about 2 minute siren and riders waiting to be last to line up, he just said, quite simply. Why dont they have a clock on the centre green like in athletics for all to see? 2 minute count down, if ya not ready to go at zero, your out, then he said, and hes grasping it now, why does speedway make simple rules complicated and blown out of proportion! Told him about the fast track reserves and he said, why not just have the rule simple as every team must have 3 brit riders 2 have to be under 23. Cant argue myself

Could any locals give me a weather update for tonight please, its sunny here in lincoln and quite breezy after this morning rain. If its the same up the road it should be a grippy track tonight id have thought. Im all excited, not been to any racing since mid last season -
Blimey! Im shocked at that. But thanks anyway

Can someone tell me if bonus points are used to calculate a riders match average? Im sure they must be, if a rider scores 8+4 from his 4 rides thats a paid maximum. 12.00 would be his average if he scored that every week wouldnt it? Surely it wouldnt be calculated as 8.00

id sooner see bjerre dropped, wheres craig cook going?

Tai Woffinden Misses Next Years El
mrlincolncity replied to phillipsr's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
some proper crazy comments here! to be expected though, so you think tai should ride here forever simply because he started out here? turn down far more money to stay here? seriously??? come on, have a little word with yourselves before making utter ridiculous comments good luck tai, chase the rainbow and get every penny you can until its over -
You wouldnt be bothered if our number 1 rider wasnt racing here!? Why? Unless of course you arent english
-
100% bang on! sick of seeing foreign riders gaining easy rides at reserve when that can easily be filled with a young brit
-
yes I agree with this, id like a minimum number of home grown riders in the team, id even go both reserves and 2 in the main team. this might be a tough one due to a lack of half decent british riders, but this is a must imo or certainly something more than just the FTR idea, to bring on our next generation of international standard riders
-
why couldn't Coventry and Leicester share alternative Fridays? if it goes to a set race night, youd only have alternative home meetings anyway so why cant it be that way for the 2 clubs now?
-
id drop bjerre personally, like the idea of woffy at lynn though! how about getin bomber in somehow as well?
