  1. It's all relative as riders are better than others at different tracks and it depends on where you normally see them. At Lynn, Darcy and Janowski are great. Magic is inconsistent at a number of tracks but after a year at Lynn, he has our place sussed. That's why I think IF it was a Poole v Lynn Grand Final, Poole would have the edge as they have a team that's better at the NA than we have at Wimborne Rd. In terms of who is better, Iversen's strength is his consistency. He normally turns in big scores week in, week out due to immaculate equipment and professionalism. I would say that Darcy is the more naturally talented rider on a bike. If he ever takes his racing as seriously as Niels, he'd be unstoppable in my eyes as he has everything required to be the best. I do think Darcy is starting to mature now and hopefully we'll spend more time talking about his on track performances than his antics off it. I genuinely hope he continues to develop as he's one of a few riders that I actually look forward to watching ride and would gladly pay to see. As for tomorrow, be delighted with a point as that means Poole only make up a point on us in the league and keeps up our record of getting at least a point from every meeting this season. C'mon the Stars
  2. Still cannot believe that result. Didn't even think a point was likely, never mind a win. Very proud of the boys tonight. Massive well done to Robert Lambert. Unfortunately his night will be remembered by most for his schoolboy error but 7+1 on his first visit was some return and that 5-1 with Puk turned the meeting our way again. For what it's worth, thought the ref got both decisions spot on. Just glad for Robert that it didn't cost us point like I feared it might do.
  3. And the Premiership trophy or whatever it's called when we beat Eastbourne at the start of 2001
  4. Getting slatted sounds painful. Much worse than being slated I think if you read GB's post again you'll will also see that he is hardly getting slated. He didn't have a great night by his standards but came good when it mattered. I'm guessing your obviously close to Robert and his family but you have to realise that on a public forum, people are free to say it as they see it and it's not always going to be nice. Reading this thread, just be thankful you're not a massive Simon Gustafsson fan I think Robert knows more than anyone he needs more track time as he was obviously keen to link up with Newcastle in the PL. His gating is his weakness but there isn't a Stars fan anywhere that would want to see him dropped.
  5. Glad to see some good old fashioned common sense from both sides has led to Lambert's inclusion. Hopefully both parties have learnt from the fallout. It's actually not a bad looking side and at least gives some hope for the future given the current crop of Team GB "stars".
  6. Hi Mike Do you have any details about Alec Wright (age etc). Been very impressed with him in the MDL meetings so far but don't know anything about him. Certainly would like to see him given a Stars contract and take the same path as Josh Bailey (i.e. a team spot in the Young Stars next year).
  7. Stars skipper Rory Schlein is attempting to raise £10,000 for Breast Cancer Care (full details below). As one of the thousands of families who have had loved ones diagnosed with breast cancer, he has my full support and hopefully the support of the rest of the speedway community as well. Good luck Rory, I hope you smash your target. ---------------- Taken from http://www.roryschlein.com/rory-takes-on-10000-challenge/ International Speedway rider and captain of the Kings Lynn Stars Rory Schlein has set a target of £10,000 to raise for Breast Cancer Care by the end of the current season. The popular racer has decided to let his beard and hair grow until the last home Kings Lynn Stars meeting of the season against Swindon on August 27th, 2014, then it will be shaved off during the interval. Ahead of the challenge, Rory said: Breast Cancer Care is a great charity and one I am keen to help by using my profile within the speedway world. My friend and mechanic Lee sadly lost his sister to the disease recently and to be honest, it knocked me back a bit and made me think I want to help. We have got lots of things planned during the season and I hope, with your help, we reach the target of £10,000. There are plenty of ways to get involved with Rorys challenge. Special pink Shave The Roo wristbands will be available soon at tracks around the country and can also be purchased via his website. A range of merchandise will also be available soon with all profits going to the Shave The Roo challenge. On July 16, Kings Lynn Speedway have agreed to turn the Norfolk Arena pink for the night with fans urged to dress in pink to support Rory challenge. The Stars will be wearing special one-off race jackets which will be auctioned off to help raise funds. Every 10 minutes someone in the UK hears the devastating news that they have breast cancer. The confusion and fear that this causes will be felt not just by the person diagnosed, but by their family and friends too. Breast Cancer Care is just a phone call or mouse-click away for anyone living with breast cancer ensuring that when breast cancer overshadows life were there for the person underneath. Visit www.breastcancercare.org.uk or call our free helpline on 0808 800 6000 for any breast health concerns.
  8. Great win for the Aces but how the hell does Cook keep getting away with those starts. Was the ref Mr Magoo?
  9. R/R for Proctor it seems as well after his nasty spill last night.
  10. Quite simply a stunning performance from the Stars. All 1-7 were excellent but special mention to Bjerre, Lambert & Kerr. The latter two superb on their first ever visit to Perry Barr. Been said earlier that someone was going to get tonked when all the Stars clicked and tonight was that night. Difficult to see where the Brummies go from here as there isn't any abundance of riders just sitting by the phone. Maybe they can tempt Smolinski back? Kennett just awful and should be embarrassed by that "performance" and surely has to go. Barker I thought was trying and had a good go at Iversen in Heat 13 but he's nowhere near number 1 standard. One positive I will say about the Brummies is that the programme is superb.
  11. Saw on Twitter that he's broken his thumb and having surgery tomorrow
  12. It should be three points for the Stars tonight but still very much looking forward to the meeting, perfect day for speedway. I'm sure Richie Worrall will receive a warm welcome on his return, he was superb for us last season. Young Stefan Nielsen is popular as well (well at least with me and a few other posters on here ). With him being a former mascot and his family being regulars on the first bend it still annoys me to this day that despite running the Young Stars he's never lined up for us. Zagar and Nicholls have always been good value at Lynn and I'll be watching with interest to see if Cook finally puts in a decent NA. Never impressed during his Workington days and has done nothing on previous visits with Belle Vue. Made Middlo's selection of him for last year's SWC even more puzzling. And the biggest plus point, after running the London Marathon I can have a pint while watching the Stars. C'mon boys
  13. Seems the Drury's have left Birmingham. More behind the scenes strife or amicable parting?
  14. Hopeful of the Stars backing up at least a point. If we do need the help of TR's we should have the top end power to grab decent points. Will be tough for Lambert, Porsing and the two Lewis' but confident they can step up.
  15. I can think of one occasion when all the Stars have clicked at the same time away from home and luckily enough that was at Ipswich. Don't think I'll ever forget that night. Tom P Madsen beating Gollob from the back!!!!!!
  16. Good win and delighted to get the three points after a nervy start. Some early points thrown away and poor gating meant I'd have taken any kind of win after 7 heats. But the Stars fought back superbly and I felt it was Kerr and Porsing who swung things our way. Lewis could have crumbled after two falls when in great positions but bounced back to record two wins. Nicklas after looking out of sorts early on sprang to life and his cutback in Heat 12 pretty much sealed the win. Lambert will be just fine once he gets used to the grippier starts in the EL. Clearly had the speed later on in the meeting, made up a massive amount of ground on Ellis & Bech in Heat 14 but left himself too much to do. Sure he'll be pleased to get the first one over and done with though. The best thing about the win was that you know there's plenty more to come from the Stars. If they all click at the same time, someone is going to get hammered.
  17. Great to finally the get the season proper under way, seems ages since the ZG meeting. Think Lakeside will be a tough test. Plenty of riders who are decent at the NA but still fancy the Stars for the win, especially with Bjerre being in such good form. Hope there's a decent crowd and a few hundred ZG fans hanging around to inject some life into the place
  18. Scunny lineup as follows: 1. Steve Jones, 2. Ryan Macdonald, 3. Danno Verge, 4. Adam Kirby, 5. Sam Woods, 6. Danny Ayres, 7. Liam Sanderson Can't see anything other than a big Stars win but looking forward to seeing Macdonald, Ayres & Sanderson in action for the first time.
  19. Thoughts - guests shouldn't be allowed in the NL but that's a different conversation Think it's the toughest start possible for the Young Stars. Can't see past Cradley for winning the lot again. Just hoping for a decent season that will see Lewis Rose mature into a NL no 1 and seeing Josh Bailey continue to progress.
  20. In business, it's basic management to evaluate, minimise and mitigate risk but yet again speedway cannot get its act in order. Really simple common sense decisions could have prevented this whole mess: Don't run a meeting in poor conditions two days before a showcase event Have fresh dry shale available if the weather is poor Have someone on site to take ownership and have the necessary authority to make decisions Communicate with your customers. Let them know there is a track inspection planned (preferably with enough time to prevent wasted travel) Don't open the gates until you are sure the meeting can go ahead It literally is idiot proof stuff but yet again they can't manage it and the sport just stumbles from one disaster to the next. Each time something like this happens it ruins good will and kills off the love of the sport for die hard fans, never mind the casual fans who are desperately needed boost attendances. While the sport is run by clowns it will continue to be a circus. Now all we'll get is public finger pointing and blame and it's the Coventry fans who'll be caught in the middle and suffer. Every time a track closes, I reckon 90-95% of those fans are lost for good. If Lynn closed down, I wouldn't go to Peterborough or Ipswich regularly. Might take in the odd meeting if there was a Lynn connection, but other than that I wouldn't care either way. Can't see many Coventry fans heading to Leicester, Wolves or Peterborough for their fix. Really hope some reconciliation can be found between the Coventry promotion and the stadium owners because speedway needs all the teams it can get. What makes me so angry is most of this is avoidable with just basic business nous and common sense.
  21. Right.........so about King's Lynn v Zielona Gora then There's a 20 min highlight package of the meeting posted on ZG's YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w1ikUpQVS0
  22. Said exactly the same last night. Think that could do with being looked at. Loved the meeting and the atmosphere last night and really hope it becomes a regular meeting in our calendar. Also it has made me even more determined to watch some league meetings in Poland. Apart from the incident you mentioned above with Bjerre, didn't hear or see any other trouble last night. Thought the Poles really injected some colour and passion into the evening, normal league meetings will seem dull in comparison. As for the Stars team, think they all showed promise of better things to come. Bjerre very good (especially early on). Rory had a tough night but was always involved. Great win by Kerr in heat 7 and Rose was normally in the mix. We know we won't face a team as good as that again this season. Now really looking forward to the Lakeside meeting on April 9th and the return of Mikkel B. Jensen. He was the one rider who really impressed me last night. Fast and aggressive. If he keeps that up, he's in for a big season.
