portgunner replied to under16watcher's topic in National League Speedway
he'd be better off £ wise trying for your mates team ? the 1 who swears by £10 and 10p an reckons clubs that pay more are ruining nl .it is only 20 min from buxton an may not work out as expensive ????. nathan is a good talent and english there are also a lot of good young lads at scunnys amateur/training days' however costs of running bikes and travel are stupid and with promoters not getting crowds to get money in how can they pay it out . the sport needs a shake up scrap elite and run british and national league ! with british kids at reserve only in british. you;ll all laugh but the sooner the better or speedway will become a sunday big meeting spectator sport . time will tell ?????? -

monties quote was fantastic "does he want a team place or is he not bothered ?? i have seen nathan at many tracks and he is a good solid rider . two years in the national and he will defo bang the points in. for his age he has to be the best around, the lad should get help with sponsors he is english . a team manager not to far away from buxton who no's everything about nl once quoted" £10 a point and 10p a mile is very resonable for a nl rider" ?????? even though his team pay more than that??? add new guards new covers and 2 new silencers to under16watchers list and the price of riding this year is astronomical. this is why english kids are being lost to the sport ! stick at it nathan you will defo make a good speedway rider a team place will come -

alan belham sell the gaurd ,think there made by ev fibreglass but with the push bar they are roughly the same price as the gp gaurd -
RECALL ME SAYING SAME ABOUT SCUNNY ? scunny is a professional set up , which now has a proper manager and won the league ! The most important thing is this league carrys on the progression of british youngsters, in the hope we find a world champ again . It's not all about winning the league its more good racing and experience for the lads , you have winners and losers in everything but in the national league the winner must be speedway as a whole, fans should'nt moan at having what they call weak riders look at scunny they went from also rans to champions in the space of 2 seasons when managed correctly I wish sarj and his new team mates best of luck, I hope they all have a season as good as last or even better , i will certainly be going when work permits to watch the raiders .

At least now he has a manager who will put his intrests first , the same support team assisted lambo and he was rider of the year ? sarj is a real talent ,lets hope len brings him on in leeps and bounds , there is nothing len doesnt no about speedway being an ex rider and last of the great promoters ! The contrast of a professional run team to the comedy show of cat weezle last year, will help james no end, lets hope he DOUBLES his AVERAGE AGAIN as he did last year,, an actually gets put in ht 15 when his scores dictate that . " gloomy road the jurassic park of speedway ! fantastic place owned bye great people , ruined by a dinorsour "

Mildenhall V Stoke Nl Po Sf 2nd Leg
portgunner replied to andy1967's topic in National League Speedway
you maybe right, but at the time didnt scunny need a pl team manager ? did they not give the job to another person ? did they not also bring in a new manager for nl ? LEAVING THERE VERY GOOD SUPERB MANAGER WITHOUT A JOB but not sacked ? stoke become stuck for a manager they offer it to a couple of people who turn it down . They then bring in the one they still have who has taken them from pl back to nl ? MAYBE THEY SHOULD GIVE HIM THE TEAM GB JOB ! he would be fantastic advert for our sport on sky -

then why choose mildenhal when stoke riders strugled there , belle vue could have been a better option (wed night) is it stocks or was there no1 riding elswere , carnt understand why a team would sign a no1 who missed half a season riding for another club ! did they not read a fixture list first ? surely carnt be good from a fans point of view , how many football clubs through to semi finals with first pick choose the hardest team an then play the home leg first ? seemes farcical to me, playoffs have been around for a fair time, does anyone no of a club that rode the first leg at home ? will scunthorpe/sheffield 0r belle vue ride the first leg of the final at home not very good for fans if they win the trophy away from home ! -

i do not no mr varsey sorry vasey so carnt comment on him as a person ! I can only comment on what i saw and he was walking around appearing to be lost was what i meant . you must have noticed that silly walk/run thing he does my mother likens him to a cross between john cleese and cat weazle ( apparently a funny wreastler with no teeth ?) he maybe " probably be the best" team manager in the world, but he does look lost with a stupid walk fact . he has done a good job when you look that stoke are at the top ! scunthorpe must be gutted they sacked him ? I carnt think what reception len silver would get if he started to walk round like a flower pot man ? maybe this is the key to success come on..... rossco/middlo... next time your on sky do the malcom walk! its the future , and "probably the best walk in the world " lets hope the tigers win the league. if they do please can we see a silly walk from chris/mike an rob ! one thing i dont understand was why did stoke disadvantage there selfs bye riding the home leg first ? -

wasnt reade SACKED the week before , how come nobes rode on grass if he was injured ? I have watched stoke 6 times this year , every time i get the impreshion there manager hasnt got a clue ? reade 14 from two legs was dropped for a grass track rider with no previous speedway experience ? to ad to this i was told he has no speedway bikes ? no disrespect to mr varsey but what the hell is that thunderbirds walk all about, it is very entertaining though from the view of the pits i had he seemed almost non existant, were as mildenhall had louis /lee/donky /henry/rissager ect all over the pits working on bikes . all stoke seemed to have was jason garritys mechanic ? in a james sarjent JUMPER ! yes JUMPER (28 degrees) ? sweating and running round like a lunatic, he had simon lamberts bike in major pieces during warm up and i saw him working on 4 other bikes inc reades/sarjents ect with pickards mechanic . stoke could possibly have won with a full team . I attended both legs an was suprised at the slickness of the stoke track, this almost certainly cost the stoke team there chance A fantasticly run meeting at west row again though i have to say i think with a full team stoke may have pushed hard . all credit to the mildenhall team hope you win for the sake of national youth speedway , I for one am hooked by the speedway ive seem at mildenhall, wish my team (hackney) could have a track with grip like west row (and no dust) ,fantastic racing and a good performance by all " WITH NO TROUBLE" . halsey/baseby/blackbird/heeps certainly took my eye and i will defenatly be there to watch the finals against scunthorpe **************************************** COME ON THE TIGERS ******************************************************************* -
Mildenhall V Stoke - Ko Cup Final 1st Leg

Think you will find that a fan threw a bottle at james sargant after spitting at him > the same fan then lunged at the fence knocking pickards bike over , the said mildenhall fan then attacked a man who was talking to sargant through the fence . i never saw a metal bar and i was standing at the side of the incident ? this was the best meeting ive been to in years . the fans seem very anti stoke when credit should have been given to all riders for a fantastic meeting , shame we dont get these kind of meetings at rye house. fantastic well run meeting ,mildenhall has certanly changed for the better with the new promotion ,we will definatly be going back next week , "WHAT A SPEEDWAY MATCH " FULL PACKAGE THANKS FOR A FANTASTIC DAY AN ALL FOR A TENNER -
watched sarjeant at rye in u19 was realy impressed with him better rider than pickard going on the twice ive seen pickard ride this year
-
they are dual nationals who have yet to decide who to race for england or aus , but i think you may be right they will be aussies
-
very well put trouble with england is we dwell on the past jason garrity is probably the most talented rider since " peter craven " british speedway should back this lad and the likes ov howarth as these could be the next collins/morton for england sorry team gb

like i said i made a constructive opinion you dont have to agree or disagree. if a team came to dudley an refused to ride youd have a riot on your hands ! in coventry which and with mean different things is that not the case in cradley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
thing is it takes too teams to make a race meeting if the other team wont ride or have a negative attitude then its difficult . glad toms ok but his crash was first bend incident and could have happened what ever the track conditions , we go to speedway to see racing why didnt dudley work with track staff to gain a happy medium insted of just saying not intrested dont want to ride track surfaces can be changed as it was proved in the second half of last night its just a shame dudley didnt want to ride , kings lynn didnt used to have this problem when track was like a potato field with no air fence the riders just adapted to conditions and put on an entertaining show ! if you went to watch man u v arsenal and man u walked out because the pitch was wet what would happen ,you could argue its different which it probaly is right as kids trying to break in to football play on uneven fields in all conditions rain shine or snow, they dont say its not smooth as a babys arse like old traford or wembley we should throw our dummies out they just adapt to conditions and play accordingly . same with formula 1 when there learning in karts they dont say oh we carnt drive its raining and theres a bump in the track ! its not like silverstone lets walk out....! they just adapt and race on useing common sense

seems like you just want to come on here and talk crap. garrity and howarth had no problems (garrity actualy doing 2 laps with a broken seat ! the track was over gripy to start with but all heathens did was moan and say they dont want to ride(with the exeption of 2), when it would have been more constructive to work with the track man to help there cause . in my opinion the meeting was a complete shambles because heathens came with a we dont want to ride attitude and because the ref didnt grab it by the neck and make definate decision , he should have said its on your riding! or its off your not ? if conditions are difficult riders should adapt nobody wants to see injurys but you carnt just say i carnt come in flat out im not riding ? speedway is a dangerous sport and you have to ride acording to conditions . big steve puts a lot of time and probably money into the colts and its good to see the colts in the nl . the only real looser is british speedway again riders must make an effort to work with track staff if they do have a problem if it carnt be sorted fare enough but you carnt just say i dont want to ride with out giving it a go ! i will probably get stick for this post but thats my opinion intresting banner in the crowd ommer em heathens
