  1. But is that not what all tracks do before the start of a meeting. I would not say that was doctoring would you?
  2. I don't think they doctored the track. It looked like a typical October time track to me. Greasy and damp. It was alway going to stay that way with the cold air imo
  3. Sorry, I missed that, Yes two third places. The 1st was when Fricke won it. The 2nd as you rightly said was when Smektala won it.
  4. They are good young riders at the level whats is requered in the UK. People forget the likes of Rushen and Cairns have got the same experience as the foreign lads. Those boys have have been racing each other all around Europe for a couple of seasons, So it will be interesting to see how they perform against their foreign counterparts. Regarding Killeen and Harrison, i don't know what experience they have when it comes to racing abroad. It just shows though the days of a British u21 world champions have long gone. Cox, Havelock, Louis, Screen and Richardson. The closest we have since them boys was Bomber back in 2003!
  5. Vatcher will come out with his standard comment whenever we don't do so well "The experance will hold us in good stead for the future" ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ
  6. I think riders in this day and age are all about themselfs. I think it was Robert Lambert who was picking up a young rider of the year award a few years back. Peter Collins was presenting him his award. Lambert didn't have a clue who PC was!!
  7. How many times will Louis Correct Tatum? He really does need replacing. An arrogant ex-schoolboy who thinks he knows better than most. 9/10 he's always wrong
  8. If they make the track like this tomorrow night. Then Morris needs sacking. He's watched this shambles of a track tonight, so there is no excuses for tomorrow. i wouldn't hold my breath though. He and the others in charge have really shown how incompetent they are when it comes to preparing a track.
  9. I don't think Timo Lahti's parants have any affiliation with Sweden, wheras Both Loram's mum and dad are/were English as was Woffinden's Parents.
  10. Tatum is earning his money tonight talking this up!! Made me chuckle when him and Louis were shouting the odds on how GB were on fire in beating Italy ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
  11. World Team Cup use to be a fantastic week of racing. Due to the fact Poland would nearly always win. Those in charge then in their wisdom decided to have a glorified pairs meeting. Now we have such unevenly matched pairs. Whats the point? Speedway must be the only sport that continues to shoot it's self in the foot. They get pleanty of air time, but People are not going to watch or attend this rubbish. Surely the FIM must know this?
  12. I agree the current state the country is in, means walking into a job like the old days is not going to be easy. I think I heard or read, Paul Stark works as a bricklayer also Richard Lawson works on site and that Palm Toff took a day off work to guest for Edinburgh last week.I'm sure there are plenty of others who have a job. Someone like Bomber, who's had a great career. Has rode at the top level for quite a few years, so I would guess he has never had to work. So in Bomber's case It could be tricky. He does though ride on the continent doing Long Track meetings, so maybe he will not find it as tough as some of the others. Regardless there does have to be a reality check. In other bike motorsports i.e Moto X and Road Racing, only the top riders are professional. If you look at our sport. Riders who ride in the UK, Sweden and Poland are genuine professionals. Riders who only ride in the UK are either not of a level that promoters of Polish and Swedish want or they are quite happy to double up and ride in two leagues here in the UK. Unfortunately for these riders, speedway in the UK will need a drastic change next year and if whats been muted, one league. Doubling up won't be an option.
  13. Surely in the current economic climate, both riders and promoters should be working together in making the sport as cost effective as possible. It's economic suicide for riders in the lower leagues having to run the same equipment and budget as the top riders. The promotors and riders have to cut their cloth accordingly.
  14. It's a sad state of affairs when two riders on 2 plus averages have impressed you. I'm not being disparaging in any shape or form. It just shows how far the standard has dropped. I dread to think how low the standard will be next season. I would imagine the two riders you have mentioned, at least one of them will be in the 1-5. That will be replicated across the whole league. So the dilution will just keep on diluting until it can't get any weaker. Yet one things for certain, the price of admission won't being going down to reflect the lower standard of the sport!!
  15. Regardless of it's one league or two. the sport has to acknowledge, more so the riders. that riding in front of less than a half decent semi pro football team. doesn't warrant them being full time professional Speedway riders. How has speedway got to such a point? Some riders do work, how many I don't know, but a lot of them don't! The older riders like Bomber will find it hard to cope, but lets face it, he's had a good run. But he like a lot of the others will have to cut down on their bikes and all the little extras they ask for and god forbid get a job!. There are too many youngsters who are no where near the standard to be called full time professional Speedway riders. Lets face it, if it weren't for the bank mum and dad they wouldn't be doing it anyway, because the sport has now got so far out of hand. why in the third division even the second division do riders have to have two to three bikes and big Mercedes vans? Go back to the 70/80s 90% of riders in the second division worked. That was when the sport had a lot more tracks, riders and supporters. It's a sad fact that come next season with all the top riders gone, the only option left open will be for riders to go Semi Pro. The sport in GB has to start to cut it's cloth accordingly, or sadly, there won't be league racing as we know it anymore, just amateur racing like over in the Isle of Wight.
  16. You say that, but on the other hand the riders you are talking about it all depends if they are riding in Sweden as well as Poland. If they are then I agree with you, but the ones who only ride in Poland imo, are not going to jack in British speedway and rely on Polish Speedway as their only form of income. As we all know it's a different animal out there as proved today. Brennan won his first race came last in his second and that was that. They are very fickle with riders and if they don't perform then they soon get dropped. The riders we are talking about need a safe back up and British Speedway is that and will imo continue. Only the top riders who you mention will not be riding here.
  17. About time thet got rid of those dirt deflectors. All they do is cause riders to fall when there is close racing. absolutely useless.
  18. Maybe Ben Trigger is putting himself in the window for next year, but with Cairns and Rushen Looking like the reserve pairing for next season. Maybe not so.
  19. This was always going to be a problem, especially when you were also putting a lot of faith in Boughe having to ride in the main body of the team. If you could have started with Boughen at resrve :"I know team averages" But an experienced No2 could have made such a difference to your campaign with Boughen and Hodder down at reserve.
  20. Unfortunately the standard has dropped so much that the two time winner of said championship is still after three seasons of racing got an average of a tad under three pts. We have produced 4 world champions and countless world finalists and GP riders from the championship. I can't see that happening any time soon!!
  21. Sorry don't want to reign on your parade. He beat the reserves and Palm Toff. Not exactly a sixteen year old Michale Lee, Mark Loram or Joe Screen is is it? Is that how far the standard of British speedway has fallen, that you rave about a sixteen year ole beating another two young riders with averages less than 3. Yet one of them managed to beat him twice!!
