Peterborough Panthers 2016
wealdstone replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As my mother ( GRHS) would have said a "right ruddy hames" . As so often in Speedway six of one and half a dozen of the other. A Rule which allows the BSPA to do whatever they want whenever they want, and a promoter who carries on regardless despite having been given due warning of what would happen. They are like a load of kids squabbling in the playground. How it can be expected that with the standard of person in charge this sport can ever be taken seriously is quite beyond me. I genuinely fear that within the next few years Speedway in this country will not exist. -

As I understand it this decision was made under the catch all rule"not in the interests of British Speedway" which give BSPA Carte Blanche to do anything they like. It could also be argued that the interests of British Speedway or not being served if Ged Rathbone and Panthers pull out as has been suggested. -

You do get some idiots in this world what is surprising that BSPA seem to have more than their fair share. -
Must say I was thinking along these lines. It has just taken longer than expected.

One of the things that annoy me are the endless delays between races and particularly between heat 14 and 15. Some I agree are justified and inevitable but the feeling I get is that they show little or no regard for the fans that are left twiddling their thumbs during these breaks often in brass monkey conditions.

If he was involved in Speedway he may be a contender
-
My memory of earlier days was as many have said that the first out of the gate usually won. However there was then a level playing field and of course the presentation was much better. Very close but not who I was thinking of.
-
As I posted earlier who do you think ask again, what do you think.
-
I respect your opinion and many would agree.I couldn't possibly comment!!!!

Who do you think?

Speedway in this country is in its death throws IMO. Many reasons but IMO one person most culpable

Peterborough V Sheffield Plc Friday 8th April

Seems a pointless exercise taking out frustrations on staff who do not have the authority to alter things even if they wanted to. -

I agree in this case rules is rules and there is no mileage in resisting. Some rules are seemingly daft but there you are. I was once required to carry out a "crowd accumulation" survey for Public Liability insurance for a team that played in the local park, and had few if any spectators. -

As far as I am aware the health and safety issues emanate from the Showground not the Speedway Promotion( perhaps we could be enlightened) Annoying as some of these rules and regulations can be it is a symptom of our times when people sue at the drop of a hat and Gladstone Brookes are setting up sub offices on every street corner. It may be that they are sharing the supporters club hut to process compensation claims as the happen. -

Outclassed from start to finish!! A dismal performance but all credit to Sheffield. -
Nobody has said anything that would indicate that it is ok to defraud Coventry Speedway
-
How on earth have you concluded that he says it is ok to defraud Coventry Speedway? What he says is that the majority should not suffer because of a few.

Those reports are just plain wrong!! When someone stops work you have less income regardless of pensions, and few have very good pensions. Interests rates being what they are any income from possible savings is minimal. Endowment mortgages have been available forever. What People are talking about on here are so called Low Cost Endowments which became availablein mid to late sixtiies. It was in fact the insurance companies that wrote to warn of possible shortfall. That was one of the reasons for the emergence of the compensation seeking claims chasers quickly followed by PPI.

Whilst we do not know the circumstances or who is to blame once again the paying public are kept totally in the dark.
-
All the reasons given are possible, but no excuse for keeping fans in the dark.

Coventry's New Stadium
wealdstone replied to Humphrey Appleby's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Brandon Stadium will be greatly missed. Any new stadium will be at best a poor relation.
