Promotion/relegation.
wealdstone replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
In the event no team will be demoted if they don't want to be and neither will any team be promoted .As usual as long as they are able to run a team can be in whatever league the want. -
Promotion/relegation.

If this is going to work ie Championship teams genuinely aspiring to the Premier, why did more not opt for Premier in the first place. -
I am at a loss to see what has been done that would encourage an increase in attendances
-
Will there be any real ambition from Championship clubs to go into the top flight via play offs ? There certainly was not last time
-
They succeed every year in making me less and less interested.!!!!

The financial benefit of any watering down or price increase is always negated by the loss in revenue due to the number of fans who decide not to come anymore. At least Ged Rathbone seems to understand this judging by his remarks at the recent fans forum.

The problem with this philosophy is the more the product is diluted, the crowds get less and less.

BSPA will happily expect fans to pay for both the Coffin and the Nails

Charlie Webster Fighting For Her Life
wealdstone replied to BWitcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Charlie Webster is not alone many were determined to make him suffer over and above what has now been shown to be an unjustified prison term. Jessica Ennis Hill comes to mind !! Are people still saying that it was totally in order to ruin his career even now he has been found not guilty.? -
Rightly or wrongly people were not interested in National League.

One of the things said at last nights fans forum was that there was no point putting up prices if that stopped people attending. The same can be said of watering down the product to save money.. This produces the same result as every time the product is reduced a number of fans decline to go. That is the situation Speedway is in now and has been for many years. Buster Chapman has apparently said that Premier League is too close to Elite League. Solution seemingly is not improve the Elite League but to reduce the Standard of the Premier League..

I was once told the reason why riders wanted to ride in Britain was because of the different size, shape etc of British tracks as compared with the continent and thus they could gain experience of all conditions. As British speedway is now a shadow of a shadow of what it once was and virtually every major event is held abroad , they no longer need that experience. Of course money is also a big factor

Dumbing down the product just makes the arrival at the bottom quicker. And speedway has dumbed down year after year with the inevitable result. The best supported meeting in this country is Cardiff and I would suggest that is because the stars are there. Whether this will continue however is questionable as this country has fewer and fewer stars with whom the fans can identify. However all this on wrong thread.

Ask those who first made the suggestion.

My view is that it Is still the top league despite it not being what it once was. Would a Man U or Chelsea fan want to be in the Championship because they perceive the football is better?
-
My preference is for a return to Elite League , I find it difficult to understand those that prefer Premier League but acknowledge they have a right to their view mainly I suspect because most Panthers fans started out in Premier League or whatever it was called at the time.. However much as I would like it I cannot see it happening.

A Rose by any other name???
-
Although I still would prefer a return to Elite League this is welcome news from Ged.

Was Horton the only interested party to take on Coventry? There have been suggestions that he was selected because of his previous experience.
-
What club are you thinking of? He has "walked away" from a few..
-
The name Horton surely strikes fear into the hearts of fans of any club he gets involved with.

A very serious allegation!!! If not true would warrant serious legal action
