  1. The problem IMO is that for too long the sport has been in the control of a cartel of spivs and wide boys more concerned with self interest than the wider picture. Those that have tried to change things have been hounded out. Confidently expect the 2020 master plan will be a re hash of increase prices and water down the product.
  2. Still there when I looked just now
  3. Very sorry to see you go, still hoping it is not true
  4. The information overload from official site will keep most salivating for the new season
  5. Have sent for this film and awaiting arrival. My late mother always claimed there was a film about Speedway staring Jimmy Handley but I have never tracked it down.
  6. Alan Weeks was mainly an Ice Hockey man associated with Brighton Tigers. Speedway on TV was in the early days a disaster due to the technology available at the time. One memory I have is that BBC Sportsview showed live during the programme a meeting from Wembley v Wimbledon one heat Brian Crutcher and Tommy Price v Ronnie Moore and Barry Briggs, resulting in 5 -1 to Wembley.
  7. Panthers official site as usual packed with information for fans regarding plans for the coming season , what league we will be in and thoughts on riders. Not to mention the philanthropic gestures to be made to those that may purchase season tickets .
  8. One of my boyhood hero's who brightened up the grey and bleak immediate post war days
  9. Why is it that Chris Louis still seems to have control of Ipswich whereas Panthers are mere puppets in the Chapman conglomerate ?
  10. Bloody Hope not, Many will not be going if so. Strange how the mantra in Speedway is to seek mediocrity in all its forms.
  11. The BSPA have a great capacity for making a right ruddy hames of everything , then blaming someone else
  12. Unsubstantiated rumours I have heard, suggest TV will be with Eurosport who are content with 7 teams. If this is true it may influence the decision as to which league some teams decide to race in.
  13. The management themselves have raised doubts as to which level will Panthers compete at
  14. At this stage we do not know whether the mistakes ( from which they have learnt) made this season, have cost Panthers their place in Premier League
  15. I sincerely hope that the mistakes made from which they have learned from do not result in the demise of Premier League Speedway at Peterborough. Some may feel "mistake" is a euphemism for deliberate act for which fans will pay the price.
  16. Whatever happens it is likely they will get if wrong in time honoured fashion.
  17. Only encouraging in so far as council have said that alternative home must be found for Speedway. however developers normally find a way to get round these things with promises and assurances that do not materialize.
  18. Seems encouraging , but we have heard all this before and usually developers get their way.
  19. The people who run track shops have those that are supposed to be ones for past tracks. In practice they are ones they have concocted themselves and not the originals.
  20. We did not want several tons of shale, we did not want track records broken every week, we did not necessarily want to win the league . We wanted a team that we could be proud of and had half a chance of winning most home meetings. We certainly did not want to be the loss leaders of the Chapman master plan and possibly suffer the consequences.
  21. The Bye Line was "Panthers Switch" Bullet points " still have to make decisions over level of racing next year" "have to decide whether Premiership racing is right" "key decisions to be made before we start planning such as which league we are going to be in"
  22. Not phrased in such a positive way in todays Speedway Star.
