Yes I would agree with you that there might be an advantage in having an ex-rider who has the experience and knowledge to guide you, so i'm not entirely sure what Lyon does. Shame for Bjerre making such a poor start, a talented rider but probably won't ever win the WC, lacks aggression IMO.
Listened to this guy a few times at Berwick and does make you wonder why he's there. I once thought about if he was at a football match, the announcers there give concise, short pieces of information, imagine how somewhere like Old Trafford or the Emirates would take to him droning on about an upcoming Cup match or the latest substitution?!
Except no one said Lawson was "too old".
If he carries on his form he will probably be a good PL heatleader/EL reserve, nothing wrong with that. I'm sorry but if Simon Stead who was a 6-7 point EL rider at 28/29 was classed as no good then I don't see why Lawson is/will be.
And to mention John Louis in comparison is laughable.
Lets be fair Lawson will never be good enough to ride SWC, in a couple of years he'll be pushing 30.
As SCB says we may aswell try and blood some younger riders, even with 3 senior and 1 youngster we'd still beat the likes of USA/Finland/Germany.
What with Pearson bigging Howe up and some press saying Auty might be involved it could be a nightmare.
Harris
Woffinden
Kennett
Nicholls
Should be the team.
Quite amazing when you consider that Gollob won his first world title at close to 40, some riders could go 20 years between an u-21 title and a senior title.
Bjerre has qualified by right but seems to be treading water really, not challenging for top 3. Lindgren is a good league rider but not top 8 GP standard and won't be until Hancock/Gollob/Crump drop out. I would say Bjerre will be ok as he'll keep scraping 7/8th and Lindgren should be ditched along with Harris next season.
Hans was a decent bet at 100/1, he has done it before and it's an unknown track but he isn't the rider he was. Bjarne/Ljung/Bunyan are no hopers. I personally backed Holder. Maybe the track will also suit Sajfutdinov?
So he knows what happened in some random cup meeting back in 1976, despite the fact he cannot put together a coherent argument it makes him more knowledgeable?
Why nice? They made the SWC in 2007 and were crap. I couldn't care less what they're like as personalities they're no better than Germany and Finland these days.
