  1. I have been involved with Speedway since 1966, could never get enough of it. I choose to miss the Tampere GP (being shown @ the local Pub) which would have been the first I've missed by choice. Or own Elite league is now guess the guest & that's not one per team but several. Speedway has to reinvent itself on all levels if it's going to survive, do others agree?
  2. I have every confidence that Sissis will make the grade if he sticks to it. Saw him @ Somerset on Friday he got better with every ride. On Benji Compton, he is trying but he's only 80% up to the mark. If Somerset COULD find an alterative rider that averaged 4 points from reserve you would have the top team in the league!
  3. If I were a betting man my money would be on Alex Davies, he's been 18 months not riding but now getting back into the swing of things & I think he has the Dingo in his corner!!!
  4. Like many before him Leigh Lanham now has a home track he enjoys riding - therefore enjoying being a Speedway Racer home & away!!
  5. This is a complete let down (the Poole line-up) & one of the main reasons why UK Speedway is in the state it is in. Not completely Matt Fords fault but once a clash of fixtures was known the date should have been changed or meeting cancelled. UK Speedway Europe's poor relations!!!!!!!!!
  6. Very true Rob, Jason did have the right attitude, very much his "own man" now but remember he had a great up-bringing & the best guidance possible from Neil Street. Riders tend to be like lemons if the top riders commit to ride in the BEN others will follow!!!!
  7. Todd Kurtz............ Is he not sponsored by the Driller Man....one of the Sheffield promoters!!
  8. Surely the UKBA should determine who should/should not be allowed to compete in UK speedway. The riders average is an internal & unique to speedway toll that in theory allow teams to be evenly matched, therefore nothing to do with UKBA but with the BSPA itself.
  9. Sorry that my input has stalled this topic, but please tell me who can expect a first year Australian (or Kiwi)to attain a 7 point average in the Premier League. May-be we should have drug & alcohol test before any BSPA or SCB voting!
  10. Who is it that has decided that young none EU riders come straight into the Premier on 7 points, with no league/ team riding experience it's far to high. However if assessed averages were done fairly in the first place, then that should be the minimum figure used for all future team building etc. I am all for developing British riders & the place to start is the Nat/Conference league. Other then the team captain/coach all riders should be potential Premier/ Elite material or move over! We have far to many very keen fathers of no more than average talented son's it's them that are blocking new talent coming through!
  11. Tips for the BSPA meeting. Speedway GB has never been in such a mess time for a complete shake-up. 1. Get back to the basics. 2. Do a list of what's good. 3. Do a list of what's bad. 1. BASICS: Speedway should be about 4 riders of similar ability racing for 4 laps on a well prepared track - this is guaranteed to give close & hopefully exciting racing.........not rocket science. Presentation can be abysmal, track preparation like wise, yet has the BSPA ever ran training days for either? Teams should have continua-tee season to season, loyalties should work both ways. Fans & local sponsors get cheesed off with wholesale changes. 2 & 3 please post your list........ trouble is will any promoters take any notice?
  12. Well said, however many of todays fans will question "Terry Tulloch's" who's he! well he was one of the many Neil Street protégées unfortunately when he started to knock-up the points big time he packed up returned to Aussie to shoot kangaroos......known as TT.
  13. I would suggest Jason is the cost of an airfare, are eurosport were willing to pay that?
  14. The biggest problem for league speedway in the UK is there are to many G.Ps. 6 would be a good number, 1 each in Poland, Sweden & the UK, the other 3 rotated among other countries. I can't see this happening, but I can see (regrettably) UK speedway continue to go down the pan!
  15. Sand racing in Guernsey will include cars, motocross bikes & grasstrack bikes (named sliders by the locals). Your best bet is make contact with the the local club GM&LCC ? & get someone to put you up! I have ridden in Guernsey, Jersey & I.O.M. in all three Islands the clubs, the people & the trips have been great. The times for each meeting will be dictated by the tide of course have a good one.
  16. Race Jacket collectors, there will be some tasty specially commissioned 1980s style Glasgow Tigers race jackets up for grabs after James' meeting. This will include one signed by "GOD" or should I say Steve Lawson. Best wishes to James for a good show on Sunday.
  17. I have been impressed with the teams that "Young Tiger" (C.L.) has put together since joining the premier league, however none of which have reached their full potential will this season be any different? Gary May's selection of teams I haven't rated so highly yet they have had much more success. This could be partly due to how riders love riding the Oak tree Arena & up their game. I see Thursday 5 points difference either way.
  18. If Alex Davies does get clearance he could add 2 points to his average, last year he rode as a second string (putting him against 2 heat leaders in most races). Those of us who know can see the talent Alex has, riding @ Plymouth should help his away form. I find it very disapointing there is so much negative talk on this Plymouth forum - you guys deserve Mike (Arthur Daley) Bowden back in charge!!!!
  19. Great news PC Not just a Champion but a really genuine nice guy as well.........CONGRATULATIONS
  20. Well remembered quote to the riders when James was @ Peterborough: "If you see a gap go for it" The riders thought it was hilarious & repeated it constantly!
  21. I may be wrong but I think the best way for Alex to get around the visa problem is: 1. Get his mother to get a UK passport/citizenship. 2. Once that's done get one himself. I do hope Alex gets sorted for 2014........
  22. My fondest memory of Danny was driving with him to Mildenhall when he was riding for Weymouth, I spanered for him that day as he upset a few of the home riders & supporters with his "hard but fair" riding. He took little notice of any abuse just got on with the racing. Danny was a genuine good guy...sadly missed. Jock D.
  23. The best signing has to be Dakota North, he's a Peterborough asset, he's UK base is Milton Keynes (I think?),plenty of potential, very good equipment & if you are a female a good looking guy!
  24. OOOOOp's .......I bet Gary would like to be in a position to start again with the team building with all the riders he ONCE HAD available.......... I think the biggest mistake was letting Alex Davies go, he's probably the most popular rider on the terraces & due for that big improvement in '14. Question: of the riders released, who has actually signed on the dotted line for their new clubs or is that not a problem anyway (Plymouth). Best wishes to all Riders for a safe 2014............
