  1. If the weather means the meeting is off, then it can only be a good thing for speedways credibility (that's if it still has any) & re-staged with full 1 to 7s. Why is this meeting still scheduled with less than half an Eastbourne team should have re-arranged anyway, perhaps the Drury knows the answer?
  2. If? Connor Coles can get a team place @ Plymouth - being the son of Mike & grandson of Bob I can see plenty of support both on & off the track for the talented but as yet unlucky young man.
  3. Can Plymouth accommodate Connor Coles in their line-up, I think granddad Bob lives local (also I can't see him continuing with Newcastle) - could be a great move for all concerned!! Move quick before others do I recon...............Lawrence?
  4. Big Arthur 100% living legend............. Congratulations AKB!
  5. The ONLY problem with the Somerset 2017 team is we have not had @ home 6 of the 7 riding/scoring to their potential (7 of 7 would be preferred) the Oaktree is 100% a racers track if you or your machine are not on the pace 100% it will show & you will get beaten! For me the biggest problem this year is the missing visiting riders, can we please sack the current person responsible. It must be a difficult job but what has been presented is appalling......
  6. We all hope for a speedy & full recovery, the cost of that Air Ambulance would have far exceeded the collection amount - but every donations helps & congratulations on your fine effort. Please remember speedways very own BEN fund will help Danny during his recovery which is why we should always support the once a year track collection & the all important BEN meeting @ the start of the season.
  7. Was it Terry Russell..........
  8. Have the Somerset Promotion (& their fans) been conned big time with the move into the top flight? Are is it simply that the fixture compiler should be sacked & all "B" fixtures should be rearranged NOW!
  9. There are many losers: home fans, away fans, the "star" riders, riders sponsors, the home gate, the sports credibility.....the list goes on. Something should be done NOW!
  10. These riders have committed to ride in the 2017 Premier league, when missing uk meetings they have bikes, vans & mechanics sitting idle! As things stand it's the fixture list that needs sorting. Most riders will be disappointed to miss a meeting @ the Oaktree. So it's the Fans, Riders & the Somerset promotion that are all being "Short Changed".
  11. It would appear that all the riders that have missed Oaktree fixtures (& the one's due to miss) are the very same riders that the fans will come to see. How much is this costing the Somerset Promotion? This season it's been great racing for the fans that turn-up BUT its the big names that will drag in the extra fans! How can this major problem be sorted?
  12. Kevin was liked by everyone, maybe appropriate with 40 years now past (subject to family approval) to hold a memorial meeting?
  13. With other premier teams strengthening-up are the Rebels likely to follow? Does Gary have any plans & what options does he have? Your comments please. P.S. What fantastic racing we had v the Swindon Robins, all witnessed by Terry Russell, B.T. sport should stage all their meetings @ Belle Vue & The Oaktree!
  14. Well said Fourentee, we should always look @ the bigger picture especially those controlling our sport ion the U.K. Biggest mistake yet is award 4 points for a big away win! what good does that do speedway?
  15. Good luck to the Devils on Friday, hope you get a good crowd.
  16. I would love to see the Rebels beat the Pirates "home & away" on GOOD Friday. I would also like to see £100 fine (payable to the BEN fund) for any rider missing an official fixture, it's about time this mickey mouse situation was rectified. With all the Aussies involved I would love to see the Rebels beat the Pirates "Home & Away" on GOOD Friday! I would also like to see all teams fined £100 (payable to the BEN fund) for any rider missing an official fixture other then injured, if great our sport is ever going to regain some credibility this has to be rectified.
  17. Don't think Poole have ever got the track consistently sorted since the retirement of John Hector.... do others agree?
  18. Has there been any official statement from Terry Russell / Gospeed?
  19. FAO Gary May........ With the sad demise of Coventry, might this be a gifted opportunity to strengthen-up the Rebels 2017 line-up? Gary is not one to stand back in the pursuit of trophies as we all know! as they say the early bird catches the worm.
  20. A nice display of bikes by the Fen Tigers @ Paradise park on Sunday, also a good turn-out of current & former riders. Might be a good move to have a tigers reunion & get together down @ the fen in 2017 (Saturday evening) followed by with a home fixture on the Sunday. Well done to all involved on Sunday, anybody know how many? Mel Taylor looked young & fit enough that he could jump back on a bike tomorrow, but I don't think he would want to get dirty nowadays!
  21. Phillip are you saying that speedways decline is all down to Simon Wigg?
  22. This was for years the BMF rally (British Motorcycle Federation) in its heyday it attracted 80,000 over the weekend, for various reasons a couple of years ago MCN step-in & took the date over! Most years that the BMF ran the event it featured a vintage speedway demonstration which worked very successfully.
  23. Very talented motorcyclist was Mike, after he's speedway days he got into vintage road racing & i'm told either crashed or won. Become very good mates with Barry Sheen, so much so he was a beneficiary in his will. A dab hand with engines, he has played a part in somersets Jake Allens success.
  24. I would vote Wiggy every time, Simon was & still is the RIDER'S RIDER not only that, also a great ambassador with brilliant PR skills off track - never matched to this day. You can't dismiss Kelvin's results but it was all so textbook & boring by comparison.
  25. With the exception of Peter Adams all the best & most successful team managers/coaches have been ex riders. Peter Adams has worked with & learnt from many top riders (O. Olsen etc.)but he is the exception. Laurence I can honestly say your talents can be better used running the overall show (i.e. CVS) ATB whatever you do.
