I would think the ONLY certainty of a 2018 team place is the very talented & popular Dan Bewley............ the rest of the team will be determined by averages & cost, one thing for sure, most riders would love to have Belle Vue as their home race track.
-
Debbie............ As long as there are enough punters, how about organizing a Christmas /New Year Dinner @ the Oaktree!
-
Well said & well balanced, fact is Belle Vue were so good @ producing speedway talent in the 70s & 80s that they are unique with so many ex riders. I can see this from both sides & as you say " I don't believe the public domain is the place to achieve a satisfactory solution" P.S. The current BV promotion are doing a fantastic job & PC is a icon.
-
Debbie & Co. took a very brave decision to move up a league in 2017 the promise of star riders leading visiting teams (& attracting extra punters) very rarely happened....... basically they were sh-t on week on week. Huge amounts of money was lost with star riders missing they must have been so glad to see the season end....... the shenanigans with the presentations do must have been the final straw! P.S. It is worth noting that punters that did attend had brilliant racing served up week on week throughout 2017 ..... a credit to the promotion & track staff.

The BSPA should already be planning now for Premier league Wednesdays & Thursdays for the 2019 season. The current situation is we (the UK) are THIRD in the pecking order behind Poland & Sweden we should make UK Premier league racing an attractive proposition to all the top European based racers, then CHEERY PICK WHO WE WANT! not rocket science is it?
-
Nothing simpler than the existing system, there are 101 things that need sorting in speedway but riders & team averages are best left as they are.
-
You are talking "Flapper valves" these are designed to discharge oil, this "could" be piped to your oil tank but does come with same pressure! Try getting hold of AKB Arthur Browning as he's raced a 2 valve at the IOM. Interesting project.
-
Mondays would be perfect for Denmark, top riders then ride Poland Sunday, Denmark Monday, Sweden Tuesday. Mondays for the U.K. would only be a quick fix but not the solution to the problem!
-
Best thing for Somerset (& the rest of UK speedway) will be a Somerset 1 to 7 riding against an opposition 1 to 7 with no guest or R/R.......... The way speedway now is, it will only be possible with fixed race nights: Wednesdays & Thursdays...... NOT MONDAYS. The U.K. middle tier would not race Wednesday or Thursday....... they would only use U.K. based riders. Most supporters hate the double-up situation, this should be limited but riders would not be required in their 2 teams the same night!
-
Very little has been invested in U.K. Speedway since 1928!
-
I have not said that any tracks need to close.... But if a track can't race on the set-out race nights for the league it would like to be in it "simply" has to operate in a different league. We all agree that U.K. speedway is in a desperate state, if the U.K. just carry on tweaking this & tweaking that it will die in 3 to 4 years. Desperate needs = desperate measures.
-
The future of U.K. Speedway is in a sink or swim situation, I think everyone agrees with that. Unless major changes are made we will be left with 6-8 tracks in total! Having the top league race Mondays makes no sense & will not be sustainable. The solution will be the league a team competes in will be determined by the day/days your track is available - Tough may be for some tracks but we are looking @ the overall survival of Speedway in the U.K. Your views please Phil Rising.
-
Would Wednesdays & Thursdays be the best days to suit the U.K. top league? I just can't see any long term future with Mondays. Therefore the U.K. middle league run Fridays & Saturdays. The Conference league Sundays & Mondays (if required). The middle & lower league should only contain riders that are U.K. based for the season. I know this will never happen but it would save a fortune on travel cost!
-
Congratulation to the Swindon Robins Premier league Champions & worthy winners. Now for your reward! A new Stadium or no Stadium? Answers please CLARKE OSBOURNE.
-
It may unfortunately effect Denmark, but I still think it's the only option for the U.K. As for "G.P. Fridays" then forward planning is all that's required!
-
I will say this for the THIRD time the BSPA have already made a big mistake going for Mondays & Thursdays (Premier league) in 2018. It has to be Wednesdays & Fridays surely. If you are trying to attract at least one "name" per team - do those "names" want to ride: Sunday Poland, Monday U.K., Tuesday Sweden on a weekly basis then add a Saturday G.P. on 8 of the weeks! I'm I the only one that can see this?
-
My View on how 2018 should go: PREMIER LEAGUE Wednesdays & Fridays. CONFERENCE LEAGUE Saturdays & Sundays. CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays. Loads of reasons why this is the way to go, anyone else agree?

FIXED RACE NIGHTS Surely if it's fixed race nights next season it should be: Premier league Wednesdays & Fridays. Why Mondays - that would mean Poland Sunday, U.K. Monday, Sweden Tuesday for the top names that you hope will be keen to ride in the UK in 2018, some weeks you can add a GP on the Saturday to that rota! Championship league Thursdays & Saturdays. That will mean all the double uppers we all will not have to be in 2 places on the same night. Conference league. Sundays & some Mondays.

Lindgren Switch From Gtr Back To Gm !

I think you will find the DT500 went off the scene with the introduction of 34 mm. carbs. They were very successful prior to that on well prepared tracks & with a pilot that had throttle control. As we both know today's Speedway is not about the fastest engine, it's about getting the appropriate amount of grip while still being in control of ones motor cycle! -
Poole V Belle Vue 28/8/17 11am.

If this is an 11 am. start what time will the pirates have their team practice???? -
What we have now is "almost" any 12 to 14 riders turn up on race night, then divided them into 2 teams, call one the home team the other the away team & it's on with the racing! One solution: UK top league race nights Wednesdays & Fridays. Middle league Thursdays & Saturdays. Training league Sundays. Middle league should be only for riders UK based for the season. Training league for riders learning their trade with ONE old hand/coach per team.

I'm reliably informed that Jake was told a 4 - 2 was required!!!!! Very fortunate to walk away that.

Can't be bad to have "God" in your "team" brilliant trapper & very good rider. -

I have been involved with speedway since 1966 in all departments including having a skid myself. I totally agree Dan Bewley is one exceptional talent, I don't know what sort of "team" he has around him - but it has worked well so far! What you see on the track is a future Champion. I think Richard Lawson offers guidance ATM which is great but I would like to see a former rider take him under his wing............ Best wishes for the future Dan Bewley.
