  1. I can't see Chris Holder agreeing to return to Wimbourne Road without Matt Ford offering a guarantee of a decent track surface for 2018?
  2. Tracks like programme sales as they are VAT free.
  3. I will be looking forward to the Fen Tigers results in 2018, however I would like to see Robert Henry persuaded to stay on-board & oversee/advise the young team @ home meetings & Kevin Jolly likewise for away meetings. This in no way to undermine Phil? Kirk position as the team manager. It would be great & justified for success to come Mildenhalls way in 2018 & hats off to Kevin Jolly in supporting Jon Armstrong's testimonial meeting - how about a 4 team event representing Mildenhall, Ipswitch, Kings Lynn & Peterborough? picking the right date the most important thing.
  4. How many meetings will be staged in the 2018? can we have a "spring cup" that's 7 home & 7 away, followed by then meet all other reams twice in the league =14 home & 14 away. Careful planing to avoid meeting the same visiting team within 3 weeks! What speedway doesn't need is the stop - start fixtures of the last few years. This would give all teams 21 home & 21 away meetings + play-offs finals etc. Are the powers that be thinking along the same lines?
  5. I can't agree that "good tracks produce boring speedway" if you went to any meeting @ Somerset during the 2017 season & likewise Belle Vue (from what I did see) you would have seen brilliant speedway. It's not good when riders crash - only due track POOR conditions! this is costly on machinery & even worst riders injuries.
  6. Has Buster stated anywhere that the once very good Kings Lynn track will be back to its original high standards for the 2018 season?
  7. Isn't Pam Ayres from Bristol? Poems every week then!
  8. Any business that's main income comes in the form of cash WILL be tempted to make no or very little profit.....nudge, nudge, wink, wink.............?
  9. Yet again we have weakened teams for 2018 defended by the need to cut cost. BUT unlike other sports or businesses riders are paid (or should be) per point scored. There are only 90 points to be scored/ paid for per meeting (yes & some bonus points if paid) so it should make no difference how strong our top league is ONLY what "promoters" pay per point. A strong league SHOULD attract more punters = higher gate receipts. So with everything considered, agreed points money should be offered to all potential riders for 2018 then all those that agree put in a hat & shared out evenly over all teams. P.S. YES I DO KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN - TO EASY.

  11. Thank's for the reply MANSE, I had not seen any indication that any of the 2017 squad wanted to move on - so thank you for you fresh information. It does seem odd that by all accounts a superb track, stadium, & pay master would have riders wanting to leave?
  12. The Glasgow Tigers do look a very good team on paper, they will need to gel as a team & stay injury free, then results will follow. However the promotions loyalty to the 2017 squad - IT STINKS! If your favorite tiger from 2017 is no longer a tiger (100% chance) you may choose not to support the tigers in 2018 that also might include local riders sponsors. It will be interesting seeing 2018 unfold in the tigers den, riders will know if the TEAM does not perform you may be elsewhere in 2019.
  13. Fact is Peter Adams is the most successful team & rider manager over the last 30 years & never ridden a bike. Tony Jackson blood is comets blue & white!
  14. Quote from today's press release: PREMIERSHIP and Championship leagues team points average increased to 42.5 with the Premiership permitted one rider of an average of 8.00 or more. Championship has no restrictions. Surely they have got this "ass about face" there are far to many "top riders" riding in the Championship that should be exclusively (UK wise) in the Premiership & most of them English! This is stopping the natural progression of our own young talent from Conference to Championship. Looks to me that the Championship promoters have to much clout with voting, Yet again not good for the future of G.B. speedway anyone else agree?
  15. Sorry but that won't work, the gate revenue between the "haves" & "have nots" is to great. It would only work if we had a huge league sponsor or TV deal that paid the majority of the wage bill. A big problem for the AGM to sort is that there is not a big enough step between the rider standard in the Premiership over the Championship. I'm sure this was deliberate in 2017 but it did not work. If Championship pay £? per point the the Premiership has to pay £? x2. I would like to see any rider missing a 2018 league fixture (other than injury etc.) to be fined £50 & their team fined £100 with all the fines going to the riders BEN fund.
  16. It has to be this is the last chance saloon ............ otherwise Speedway G.B. is doomed!
  17. It's not the fixed race nights alone that will attract the fans, although regular home fixtures are a must. What SHOULD attract the fans will be a HOME 1 to 7 v a VISITING 1 to 7 something very rare in recent times. Most do not like the idea of fixed race nights but I think it is the only solution for the U.K. Mondays & Wednesdays for 2018 BUT Wednesdays & Thursdays for 2019. Also days should be identified now when rained off fixtures could be run IF NEEDED.
  18. This seem very quiet re. the AGM, have they announced the introduction of the all important purple helmet colour for 2018?
  19. As Matt Ford has got his team sorted, the main agenda will be to agree to any riders on assessed averages & capped the limit to suit the Pirates!!!! OR will they get down to the total revamp the sport needs in the U.K? No alcohol a BSPA meeting a good starting point!
  20. Living in remote town like Cairns, having an engine with longer service intervals would be very useful, anyone know what Dave Jackson is doing nowadays?
  21. Matt has got his team sorted for sure, all he has to do is get his fellow promoters to agree to his points cap!!!
  22. This years AGM must make decisions to give our sport some CREDIBILITY. Bold decisions will have to be made & not meet halfway. Fixed race nights for the Premier league is a must, but this will only work if the Championship don't use those SAME NIGHTs. A fixed pay scale would be good - offer it to all potential riders - those that accept will be the ones you build your teams around with points limit depending on rider commitment. We also need a distinct difference as to the levels of the Premier & Championship - the Championship should only use U.K. based riders. A meaningful fixture list should exist for all tracks, if it's fewer meetings then shorten the season! Good luck AGM please surprise us this year.
  23. Fantastic talent on a bike, up there with the best.
  24. I would like it done @ all Promoters meetings, the AGM in particular!
