AGM. Putting covid-19 aside, the fact is Speedway in the U.K. is in need of a major overall. Tweeking what we already have (as per the norm) will achieve nothing or at most very little. Standard/formula engines & equipment are a must for the sports survival but will it ever happen? "Promoters" must look outside the box. The once regular weekly home meeting is the one vital ingredient to keep your paying public's interest.

He had his knockers but this is one of the many things Tim Stone (RIP) had right @ Queensway Meadows Newport!

British final 2020
Ghosty replied to Nassa10's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
No doubt in my mind if Jason Crump wanted to win this meeting then he could. However I think he will use it to feel his way back in calm & cullulated. -
IF! we are going to have any meaningful form of league Speedway (U.K. Poland & Sweden) in 2020 it can only happen if there is no SON, G.Ps or most other F.I.M. events. The only event needed other than the domestic league meetings would be a one day world final preferably staged @ an indoor/roofed arena. Truth is none of us knows what's going to happen - but for 2020 U.K. league speedway to be any sort of a success it can only happen without the numerous interruption of F.I.M. events. Does anyone else agree with me or do I have just got to much time on my hands?

You are well informed! If we do have any racing Jason could ride in the British Final & then if he won it!!!!!! Reality is: we will be "VERY LUCKY" to see any U.K. speedway in 2020, if we do then the BSPA will need to employ someone to make meaningful fixtures of whatever is left of the season.

Will the premiership start on time?
Ghosty replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My guess is the BSPA are waiting for the government to say you can't run - because of legal/financial reasons? -
Just had a marathon cancelled on me & heard of another cancelled on the radio. The way I see it the less "crowd" scenarios anywhere the better, speedways biggest problem would be if & when accidents happen hospitals A&Es unable to cope . U.K. speedway has to be postponed with immediate effect!!!!!

What average would Dan Bewley come in on?
-
Agree 100%............. The fact that Jason Crump is riding premier league Speedway 2020 for Ipswich is due to a unique combination of circumstances! To compare this with any other situation is not a true comparison. Jason's tallent/record puts him in speedways all time top ten. Rejoyce all U.K. speedway fans Jason & Niki will be putting "bums on seats".
-
Does B-arnie Pedersen fit average wise? good mate of Gazza!
-
Question to all you number cruncher's on here: who are the riders available who fit average wise? Edited February 21 by CountyGround Don't think there were any names suggested? what about Pedersen with a B?

I can't believe there are negative people on here, This along with Niki P is a massive POSITIVE for the whole of british speedway.........I would like the G.P. TV guys to get Jason on board when & were possible as he is the BEST commentator currently available.

All the keyboard warriors on here comparing JC with other riders forget Jason was in a different class, 3 times world champion & a 10 year stint never outside the top 3 in the world. As you say Arch Stanton Jason is a proud man but also level headed & intelligent. Jason's retirement was down to an arm injury, that now has had time to heal, if he can come back to 80-90% of the former rider then everyone will be happy. If things aren't working out Jason will no doubt pull the plug. Good on "Young Tiger" for pulling this off, can only be good for U.K. speedway.

It's not a rumour, teams were told @ the start of 2019 that "nomad" teams would not be allowed to operate in 2020. A good or bad decision? I don't know!
-
You have missed Grasstrack. Next to AKB would be Jersey's very own Marcus Bisson & as well as his motorcycling exploits you can add Karting & Rallying!
-
Craig Boyce was first spotted in Australia by Bob Sharpe, who then contacted Neil Street & insisted that Neil took him under his wing & that's why he was @ Poole because Neil was the team manager & Coach.
-
Spot on, with positive encouragement & good luck who knows what they might achieve. Only a short time ago the Aussies had 3 excellent talents & all 3 sons of good riders: Alex Davies, Taylor Poole & Dakota North. Great talent alone is no guarantee of future success a lot of other factors come into it.
-
Maybe we need to know all the facts before making our own judgements! Who owns (or has control of) what. Most of us are aware that BMR paid some rather silly guarantees, the sport could do with some wage controls like the Rugby Union. On the face of it to have Rye House up & running ASAP should only be a positive for our sport.

"IF"Jason decides to puts his racing head on then the only rider likely to beat him will be Tai, I would suggest the reason Jason is riding is a favour to his W.A. Rock Oil distributor.
-
I would suggest the team Wolves are starting the 2020 season is not the one originally planned simples.........

That was 91 tho wasn't it ? , so top league by then.. i remember seeing him as a wobbler in the second half against Cradley that year or even possibly 92 - na 91 i reckon. The common link with most of the riders named is Neil Street. It wasn't just the Aussies he advised/coached/nurtured a few others that spring to mind include: Simon Wigg, Simon Cross, Steve Schofield, Scott Nicholls, N.K.I. Neil was much more than a team manager, sadly he was never accredited or rewarded for his dedication to the sport in the U.K. unlike he was in Australia. This didn't bother him as he did for the love of the sport.

Kirkmanshulme Lane Stadium to be demolished
Ghosty replied to Garry1603's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Biggest problem Somerset has are restrictions within their planning consent. Otherwise there would/could be a lot more going on @ the Oaktree. P.S. I think the visit of Borris to the OTA was a feather in the cap to all concerned. Thank God it wasn't Corbyn & Abbott with her 2 left shoes! -
With the Poole coffers not what they once were, why would you give up possibly your biggest pay-day of the season for a testimonial? With Middlo's renowned rider connections a barren date would be far better date for the man himself. A top quality line-up (with some riders not U.K. based) would be reflected by a huge crowd.
