Birmingham Brummies 2020
Barry The Cat replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Pleased to hear that Brummies have been saved (again). Hopefully, the new promotion will be successful and that Mr Tolley has the business acumen not to be swayed by others in management roles at the club into spending money beyond budgets. Good to hear Josh Auty is earmarked for the team, he’ll give 100% if nothing else. -

See riders starting to go public that still owed money for final meetings in 2021. -

Nope! But it sounds as if he’s “making plans for spending Nigel’s” Got a tune in my head now…! -
Agree totally with Gordon P here! Sadly, in it's current guise there isn't any real prospect of British Speedway going anywhere but even further downhill (not that it can sink much further). Yes, there are some good people with the right intentions currently serving as promoters - but the last 2 Chairs aren't/weren't fit for purpose internally and more importantly externally. But until the majority of promoters finally agree that we need an independent body running the sport domestically, then there is no real hope for change. Let's give Rob Painter and his team the accolades they deserve today though!

My understanding is Hans went for a medical yesterday including an MRI the fact Boro haven’t declared their team shows they are hoping for the green light from yesterday for Hans. -

Asking for a friend…….did Ellis just pull a sickie or was the promoter happy for him not to travel and save himself a few quid? -
Yes, spot on well said but remember a fair chunk of the money was paid out in commission to the “party” that negotiated the initial contract with Sky.

I’d be surprised if Redvers would be part of a Rogers’ lead consortium! Peter “Drillerman” Mole was associated with Rogers at Newport when Timmy Mallet ran (sic) the show! So maybe Buck has persuaded Drills to invest! -

Has he.......??? Can list plenty of negatives ones though........! If Redvers Mole is interested then that's a much better option than anybody that LR may conjure up. -

Well done to Scunny winning the match - more important than the result for Birmingham would be the crowd size - I reckon 400/450 for Glasgow fixture - was there a marked improvement? -

Always enjoy a visit to Perry Barr, but didn't enjoy the traffic around the stadium much! Not a bad meeting, the track was pretty choppy and dusty but understand the problems that the promotion and curator face to get it half decent. Heat 13 was a great battle between Cook and Harris! I thought that it was Sedgman, Jensen (not sure why he is being criticised by a guy on here) and Ostergaard (heat 10 ride especially) that won the match for Glasgow, in fact had Cook bothered to look for Ulle in heat 15 instead of taking his line down back straight they'd have secured maximum points. Good to see Paco doing well for Brummies and Thomas & Shanes impressed, not the brightest from Ash Morris in heat 14 though when a point would have given them a much better shot in heat 15. Fear for the Brummies day to day though, even with an impressive number of Glasgow fans in attendance, there couldn't have been many more than 400 in the stadium and with having to employ a load of SIA registered staff to stand around doing not a lot then that's a hefty old expense on top of everything else, as I assume the cost is passed onto the promotion by the stadium for this. Mase the Ace on car park duty I see!

BIRMINGHAM v REDCAR WEDS JUNE 2ND
Barry The Cat replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Anyone who has been connected with speedway for a number of years knows that Main Man doesn’t really live up to his name, nice enough fella but sadly out of his depth! If the Mason’s are leaving him to deal with the council and match night operations no wonder it turned into a s**t show! -
