Bspa Chairman - Keith Chapman
robert72 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The BSPA had a £60k deposit off DH in case the club had cash problems so that would be used towards paying some debts. -

My understanding is that if riders are owed money by clubs the bspa are responsible to pay them and I thought that is what happened at Leicester. -

Yes he has done a good job but are you sure it was his money that paid the debts and Not the bspa who paid them ? -
Yes I knew who you meant, glad he finally got the club at the right price, Let's hope they make the track changes and have a great season.

I went to the lovely Ricoh arena and watched premier league rugby for £15 and kids went free, great value for money and I really enjoyed it even though I am not a rugby fan. I also went to watch a championship football match and the ticket was £16 in a nice seated stadium, yet I pay £18 to stand watching a sport that has poor facilities and teams often filled with other teams riders plus where the tractor driver does more laps than the riders while listening to a babbling person given a microphone to entertain the crowd. Speedway promoters don't know how to improve the popularity of the sport as there heads are stuck in the sand.

It's simply too expensive and not value for money anymore it should be priced at £10-12 max

Is the much needed Leicester track alterations going to be split 3 ways or is that now on hold ?

Has Mr Darcy made any comment yet ?

I am surprised Dave Darcy has Not spoken out as yet.

Rip Dennis Wallace Aka 'merlin'
robert72 replied to womble53's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes I now know Who Dennis was, it's been awhile since I last went to Edinburgh Speedway, they have an awesome bunch of fans who have been traveling around the tracks for years. RIP Dennis -
It would be the end of both clubs as fans would walk away.
-
Have the Leicester promotion forgot about there fans or are they not bothered if fans forget Leicester speedway

Very Sad news, I just can't put a face to the name -
I saw a NL match and thought the racing was close and exciting to watch, it was abit like the old BJL and NJL kids giving it everything. I think I will attend more NL meetings this year. Any news about Coventry Bees 🐝?
-
Let's hope the fans are updated later as its gone on far too long
-
Ronnie Russel and his fellow promoters allowed Johnny Foreigner into the national league and promoters have continued for years to put in overseas journeymen over young Brits and now we see the lack of top class British riders and there are No World Class Brits for fans to follow. Promoters are too blame for the current state of speedway.
-
You cannot compare any riders achievements to the promoters past and present including yourself over the last 30 years who have ruined what was once a popular sport.
-
Says an ex promoter who is part of the reason the sport is all but finished.

-
The Bees are finished unless they keep Brandon
-
Only 200 bees fans out of 1000 said they would go to Leicester to support there team if they couldn't use Brandon, thats 1 in 5 which is very poor
-
I cannot see it lasting that long
-
British Speedway will struggle to get over this closed season mess and I just don't see a brighter future for the sport because of the way those involved run it. How can Leicester,Coventry or Belle Vue attract sponsors, new supporters & sell season tickets ? Also other teams fans buying season tickets is a risk if they all don't start the season or complete it. I don't think speedway will recover from this winters problems sadly.

DH owns the stadium and Leicester have leased it to run Leicester meetings, Not Coventry meetings that's up to the owner of the stadium I heard but I guess someone may announce what's happening before March.
-
It's a total lack of respect of the loyal fans. Hearing the bees move to BP is down to DH agreeing and not down to the Leicester promotion who don't want Coventry there.
