  1. I agree - Elvington Raceway comes to mind.
  2. I'm sure quite a few of us on here would build or open our own track if we won the lottery. Where would you open yours? I've always thought Castleford, near where the old track used to be would be a super spot, attracting fans up and down the M62. Just a bit of fun - we get a bit heavy on here sometimes
  3. it says something - I'm not quite sure what - that the racing was reported to be rubbish and yet 8 or 10,000 turned up every week!!
  4. its a wind up - surely we can recognise one by now
  5. I posted this before - but here goes 1. offer tickets at £5 but you have to register for them - name, email, etc 2. Then you know who is remotely interested in speedway in the area and you can target promotions etc accurately 3. you're not sending out leaflets that get binned or talking to people who will never attend you are targeting your marketing with a simple sprat to catch a mackerel trick having said all that unless you drop admission prices people won't come which means dropping what you pay riders which means machinery must be cheaper. people will post saying make the product better and they will come. Well they won't - we're in recession and entertainment goes first.
  6. you're a mackem you're bound to be a bit wanting!
  7. one of these days I'll buzz over from Whitley Bay and give you some IT lessons.
  8. crowds will increase when admission fees are at a realistic level, around £10 this could only happen if riders were paid less and this could only happen if their machinery was cheaper there doesn't seem to be the will to make any of this happen though
  9. I can not see the attraction of this series - a random list of riders competing for what? If a series is a good idea maybe the British Final/Championship should be run as a series and then the title/ prize is meaningful
  10. right - thats me finished with this thread - the blokes a di*k we know there's money in golf whats that got to do with anything????? you display the literacy skills of a nine year old try and say what you mean
  11. i think why one or two people have got a bit tetchy with you is that you don't really make yourself clear. I don't really know what you're saying here. the deals done on a golf course aren't usually about golf deals done in the steel industry aren't done in the foundry so why would speedway deals have to be done at a track no i've re read it 4 times - don't get your point
  12. anyway - enough talk Storm - go out and get us someone!
  13. we had big sponsors in the past - Coal Products I think being one but i can not remember a major sponsor since then. We simply are not an attractive demograph. I should think we are thought of as male, old and poor. whether thats true or not and there are not enough of us. Want to waste money selling to us? Don't think so! this is very similar to when teams were "sponsored" by local radio stations - they simply plugged the speedway and teams bore the station name, e.g Stoke Signal Potters, Halifax Pennine Dukes, etc It could work
  14. sorry but the lad posted absolute nonsense, contradicted himself loads. I actually think he's taking the pee and some of you have fallen for it. He's belittling you - not the other way round
  15. I'm with oldace - he's full of it "wanted to sponsor a couple of Brits" tosh
  16. This is a topic of value not well it depends who the company is.... what would you pitch the value at?" what the hell is this supposed to mean? You in marketing or not?
  17. you might be able to persuade a gaudy anorak manufacturer - most companys would see no value in sponsoring Speedway - wrong demograph and very small
  18. well it makes you look important and thats what matters
  19. thats ok then - I must be not reading properly
  20. "He said the council would not support an increase in the number of events per year from the current 14." Does this not include current banger use which would actually render it unavailable - thats how i read it anyway - be a good nl venue though for sure
  21. Oldace, great post and it puts things in proper perspective. For me I believe we should reduce expenses to a level commensurate with crowd levels, even if it means losing star names. The sport is essentially about 4 evenly matched riders racing - doesn't have to be world names. Plenty of PL fans, NL fans never see world class names and yet they still pay to go in and watch. And are entertained.
  22. Yes, this is all well and good Diamond and Bandit folk but the thread says Who For The Bears Yes, this is all well and good Diamond and Bandit folk but the thread says Who For The Bears
