  1. is there antone we can email? or would that just annoy them?
  2. Yes there are any amount of independent TV production companies who provide programming to TV broadcast companies I accept this would be unlikely to happen - Eurosport are more likely to buy ready made Swedish or Polish programming - thats their usual modus operandi
  3. I for one wouldn't mind them picking up the league contract - even if it was highlights and not live as i've said before it might even do the sport a favour cutting out the delays and so on i think we need to prepare for life after sky
  4. maybe someone should do a cost sheet showing how much formula 2 would be compared with the regular that would hopefully get some influential people thinking
  5. no there doesn't need to be a 'hope for the best' policy - there are recognised and well used ways to develop a business. A good marketing company is a starting point. I've put ideas on here myself - I've worked in business development - but we need BSPA to club together and market Elite, Prem and NL speedway.
  6. I don't peronally believe that manufactured controversy or 'other attractions' are the thing - I've seen dozens of them and they're always lame - personal appearances, motorcycle display, etc The sport has to stand or fall by its own self. Your comments on costs are spot on - they HAVE to be lowered all round. It has to be made cheaper for riders so it can be cheaper for us. Its not formula 1 - the average fan doesn't give a toss about the bikes - leading link forks (whatever they are) - its the riders and teams we care about - they could ride anything for all i care
  7. what you don't want to do is alienate your current audience whilst reaching for a younger one and risk losing everyone over 50
  8. questions 12 and 15 seem to clash - 12 saying good value in the main - 15 saying should be cheaper its interesting that some of the things we harp on about as wrong are not seen as wrong by respondents - e.g length of meetings, etc of course the respondents are dyed in the wool speedway people - the views of casual fans or non attenders are, in many ways, more pertinent.
  9. to be fair i think he's missed the point of the joke which is for it to be sung to the tune of Tom Hark when beating a top 4 premiership team. As a Middlesbrough FC fan i wouldn't know how that felt Now lets all be a bit nicer
  10. lets be honest it was a total non starter - some riders might have had 3 or 4 clubs that they were signed to all involved! Who the hell would they have ridden for?
  11. no, not motive - effect I make no mention of motives - I assume they meant well
  12. they would have reason to feel aggreived if the league structure which provides dozens of riders with steady employment was undermined in any way by breakaway promoters and ultimately threatened the scope of employment offered. It is very tempting to see anything new as a good thing and i would expect criticism for my views but I would urge speedway to stay unified.
  13. Edinburgh need to move to the Ingliston exhibition centre - perfect venue
  14. there's about nine million posts on here about this already - just pick the bones out of them - tracks, engines, riders, telly, money, etc etc ad nauseum
  15. I suggest ordering lottery tickets first! I like the sound of the one near Oxford and Milton Keynes - my god if they couldn't get a crowd we're doomed!
  16. I agree - Elvington Raceway comes to mind.
  17. I'm sure quite a few of us on here would build or open our own track if we won the lottery. Where would you open yours? I've always thought Castleford, near where the old track used to be would be a super spot, attracting fans up and down the M62. Just a bit of fun - we get a bit heavy on here sometimes
  18. it says something - I'm not quite sure what - that the racing was reported to be rubbish and yet 8 or 10,000 turned up every week!!
  19. its a wind up - surely we can recognise one by now
  20. I posted this before - but here goes 1. offer tickets at £5 but you have to register for them - name, email, etc 2. Then you know who is remotely interested in speedway in the area and you can target promotions etc accurately 3. you're not sending out leaflets that get binned or talking to people who will never attend you are targeting your marketing with a simple sprat to catch a mackerel trick having said all that unless you drop admission prices people won't come which means dropping what you pay riders which means machinery must be cheaper. people will post saying make the product better and they will come. Well they won't - we're in recession and entertainment goes first.
  21. you're a mackem you're bound to be a bit wanting!
