Dean Machine i salute you - your post is right on the money and you know what you're talking about.
-
i have standards you know!!
-
i cant be arsed working it out - Poland's Poland. When people stop watching there they'll have to think of ways to get the crowds back. Whats your idea? All i've said is its not worth more than 10/12 quid thats why people go the flix or shopping but dont go to tracks. I can go to the pics for 8 quid, watch Whitley Bay, £8, 8 cans Kronenberg £8
-
tax skews the price here though so your argument is a bit flat
-
well what is?? i wish people would stop posting how wrong i am and give me some ideas
-
ha ha brilliant! I've had enough flak from the don't want to change brigade - I'll never top this!!
-
thats cos you havent been paying attention the idea is to reduce costs to achieve a reasonable entrance fee yes the rent yes first aid but air fares, tuners, fancy vans? when i started watching speedway the riders were car mechanics during the day who strapped a bike to the back of their cortinas that makes me an old fart i know
-
i dont "reckon" it could be run on £8 I'm just saying the market says its only worth a tenner and so do some of the thousands who have abandoned the sport - obviously there are other factors as usual people criticise but dont offer an answer or an idea - what would you do??
-
"Is there a realistic future going on like this?" No!
-
"take tips" what the hell are you talking about? if £17 is the right price where is everybody?? by the way i watch Whitley Bay with between 4 and 600 others and what i'm saying is thats not a kick in the arse off a PL crowd where admission is double and I'm saying price should be a tenner, 12 tops because thats what the market level for a sport that attracts that number of people is. And the Bay don't fly their centre forward in from Scandinavia!
-
exactly my point - cheers
-
i said 3/400 not thousand "bending the truth again" go to hell - i am not a liar - the other bozo was talking about conference football which is pro - where else did i bend the truth? bloody rich coming from someone who can't read properly speedway is dying - especially at elite league level. I'm not bending the truth about that - just trying to suggest an answer if £17 is the right price where is everybody?? as for quoting football i already said you cant compare - football is popular speedway is not. just stick your heads back in the sand i've given my opinion
-
its easy to pick holes in my analogy but 90 percent of the posters think the same as me. If you disagree - fine - but what do you think should be done? by the way i pay £8 to stand with 3-400 people in the Northern League - not a kick in the arse from average PL crowds Conference is professional football these days and i specifically said that was not comparable. By the way - £17 to watch conference - you must be bonkers!!
-
great - sorted - everythings ok then cheers! don't know why i was worrying
-
"Dropping the admission to £10 will certainly increase the crowds but, without the associated drop in costs, it'd be financial suicide" of course no one would recommend one without the other take a look at bundesliga football - see what they've done. Of course Germans don't know what they're doing do they?
-
yeah not literally 100 its funny how some people would rather make smart comments than debate properly shall we just carry on peeing money away til everyone goes bust then? - ironically you do quote "economic realities"
-
sorry but thats not good enough. It has to reduce its overheads. It can be done. It HAS to be done. Theres a hundred ways and we can all name a few - machines, pay, flights my God flying people all over Europe to ride infront of 500 people!!! Get real!! A non league footballer in front of a similar crowd might get £150 will they? will they really? how many - an extra 100?
-
I believe speedway to be a £10 sport. I've read others say the same thing. you have to compare other comparable entertainment choices, e.g. cinema about £8, non league football (attracting similar crowd levels) £8-12. You can't compare pro football and I'm not talking about GPs people have criticised me for saying this on here but i would just put forward one law of business: you can not change the market price. if Mcdonalds charge £3 for a big mac Burger King cant charge £5 or no one would buy one thats allowing for the product to be similar this is how GB cant compete in many manufacturing areas - we can't make things cheap enough for the market price people say "how can we survive by charging £10?" but thats not the markets problem its speedways problem just as in my example above Burger King would need to find a way of making their burgers cheaper so speedway would need to find a way of making itself cheaper to operate. How they do that is open to discussion. Simple business facts now i'll await the flak

whenever i hear tony blackburns retro chart shows featuring summer charts from 1968 onwards i'm magically transported back to the back straight stand at cleveland park. There's a five a side pitch there now!

Conspiracy Theory (sky Meetings)

"Let's face it take out the top seven averaged riders in the EL and the rest are PL heatleaders so the product for SKY wouldn't be much different than they have now." i made this point in a post about the kings lynn match the other day and got slaughtered. But its true - when a PL rider can pull off an 18 pt max in the EL you know the leagues could merge quite easily - i suggested if you lost 5 of the riders at that meeting it was a pl fixture -
i think the differnce then was that we were the top league and just about all world finalists and champions rode here so it probably did add something then but nothing now -

if i wasn't at work i'd be standing up and applauding this post absolutely bang on the nail true but chances are he wouldn't ride for the money on offer so no problem I hope so too TWK but at PL levels not EL - why should the PL (a relatively succesful league) bust itself -

no not barred just riding for an affordable wage if he can make more elsewhere - bye bye -
limit the concession tickets to less popular areas maybe?? As TWK wisely says some money better than none.
